    for anyone wondering how to get it in meters: 6.626E-34 J*s is equivalent to 6.626E-34 kgm^2/s, which should cancel out units and leave you with meters

    Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for showing How to use Broglie Equation in AP/General Chemistry. The problems and examples are simple to follow and understand using the classical De Broglie Equation. De Broglie Equation is another great contribution to Modern Chemistry. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

      FYI:
      Joule is Newton times meter
      Newtwon is kg timew m/s^2
      So Joule is Newton times m^2/s^2

    General Rule of Thumb:
    C = wavelength x frequency (v)
    Energy = h (planks constant) x frequency = h x c / wavelength
    Da Broglie’s:
    Wavelength = h/p = h/mass x velocity

    you need to use the fact that
    1J= 1kg m^2/s^-2
    to write Planck's constant as
    h = 6.626x10^-34 kg m^2/s^2 * s
    cancel both "s" it will be
    h = 6.626x10^-34 kg m^2/s

    I have a question for you. In =h/mv if v=0 the relation in meaningless. But I could have a speed low enough to have the object have a visible light wavelenght. For instance, if I weight 70 kg and I move at 1.4 x 10(-29) m/s my wavelenght would be (circa) 663 nm. Does it make sense?

    Is the de broglie's wavelength a property of spacetime and related to the permittivity or "bendyness" of free space and can explain why the universe can bend/stretch/compress spacetime as with gravity?

    • @freemanfreeman7145

      The less momentum it has, so it has less inertia keeping it from being moved around by a of spacetime as it's particle/wave propogates through space?

  • @sonnajensen4824
    @sonnajensen4824 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What happens to the kg? Why does the final answer only have units of meters? I know it wouldn't make sense to have kg in a wavelength measurement but I thought units only canceled if they were were present in both the numerator and denominator.

    • @uhuihiuhuihi
      @uhuihiuhuihi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're right, it's always good practice to show the units in your calculations so you can analyze if your answer makes sense.
      Recall that the SI units of a joule are kg*m^2/s^2
      Therefore the units of Planck's constant are [J*s] = [kg*m^2*s/s^2]
      The kg in Planck's constant divides out with the kg from the mass and you will end up with an answer in meters.

    • @mayank2id
      @mayank2id 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Solve it with dimensional factor method, you will get only [L], whose Si unit is metre.
