    Let me get this right, their coaches invited them to their home to stay the night....and the parents said yes? No teacher should ever let students know their private lives, let alone allow them in their house.

      I work in the area, but not from it. Boundaries are very blurred in these Appalachian towns. I've heard wild stories about teachers in other school districts near by, and it's so on course with this report.

      @@TriMLS When I was in school, in the ancient days, in my rural West Ohio small town, I did not even know the names of my teachers' spouses. The only way you would know would be if you went to church with them or was in town to see them a lot.
      I did not know my first grade teacher's husband's name until I was 50 years-old and saw it on Facebook, 30 years after she retired.
      There was only one teacher who talked about his private life, but it was the past when he was in Vietnam.
      Yes, it was a small town but not at one time did I ever hear them talk about their spouses, and talk about anything else except the class subject was forbidden.

      I am actually from the other side of the state. Weirdness does go on down there, it is close to Pike County and the Serpent Mounds and Waverly the sanitarium town and Mothman on the West Virginia side.

    My HS's basketball coach and his wife both had inappropriate relationships with multiple students and we all knew about it. It went on for years, through many graduation classes. Sounds so similar to this. So gross and vile.

      @@rosemarythyme8595 It was 1991 and I was 17 and 1) I wasn't directly involved myself, it was second hand knowledge, 2) I didn't know I could/should report it, 3) I would not have known how to report it. This was in a tiny rural town, so not a place where I had exposure to news about this kind of thing. There was no TH-cam to learn from!

    I’m a teacher and mandatory reporter. We give a copy of our report to admin but we call it in to DCF first. They decide what happens afterward, not admin.

      It's a small town. This had been going on for several years. It is highly likely that the local law enforcement already knew. Tell the media. They are more likely to investigate and make it public, which puts pressure on law enforcement to actually do something. The media don't necessarily care but they do love any stories that increase their volume of viewers and makes them money.

      Exactly, THAT is a key issue which the video glossed over--these designated reporters were LEGALLY OBLIGATED to bring in law enforcement, they have zero authority to "investigate" to decide if the child's claims are credible, they are NOT the elected sheriff.
      This civil suit against the district is going to prevail at trial and watch for a massive damages award to the plaintiffs. This school district is toast.

    The school officials were Designated Reporters, they were legally obligated to bring in law enforcement immediately, they had NO authority to "investigate" the children's claims to determine their credibility, nor are they qualified to even do that.
    The district is going to be facing a massive damage award to these plaintiffs.

      Adults did report. To the proper person. That person is the one who had the obligation to take appropriate action. That same person also could ruin an innocent persons reputation, if that person did not fall into line. Lot of manipulation going on. And several teachers and admins are alleged to have been involved with the coach and wife. Not necessarily with the students.

Mandated reporters are not required to investigate the abuse, but rather to report their suspicions. School officials are not investigators, detectives, law enforcement, or child protective social workers. They should be held liable to if the only people they reported what they've heard to were employees of the school district.

    I had a work friend who told me she had been SA’d by her coach in the 1980’s (she was on the gymnastic team). Imo, this stuff goes on all the time, it’s just that now, with social media, it’s coming more to light.

    after learning about (on this channel) the 24 year old female teacher who got caught having extremely inappropriate relations with her 11 year old student whom she texted how "in love" she is with him (all this despite only weeks away from her own wedding), im just no longer shocked or surprised by these awful stories.

    There was a male teacher at my middle school who was waaayyy too comfortable and friendly with a lot of the pretty popular girls in my grade. They would hang out with him in his classroom at lunch, before school, after school, even back then it made me uncomfortable (I was in middle school from 2001-2004) He even got himself a job at the high school once we all left the middle school so he could continue to hang out with them! His son was in my class and always seemed embarrassed about his dad, I felt bad for him. I have two girls now and I would NEVER let them hang around a teacher like that, male or female.

    They need to look into all of these teachers and coaches.. you know predators often seek a career dealing with kids so they have access. Especially foster parents, Sunday school teachers. Even with the child social services. They all need to be thoroughly checked out before getting the job! This world is so messed up!

    You should look into City View School District in Wichita Falls, Tx. Very small town. Coach molested Kids for years. Reports were made to several teachers and the school board. Nothing was ever done to help the girls. The school board and their lawyer, sent out threatening letters, telling the kids they were going to sue them if they didn’t be quiet. This is a hot mess.

These poor children will now have lots of problems with so many areas in their lives that will need correcting and I pray they don't just hurt themselves because they will have relationship, s3x, friendship, bullying, self confidence, identity issues and so much more. I know, because I was s3xually abused during my childhood and also sedated and r@p3d by a trusted family friend when I was 16.
      I suppose you either have to have it happen to you, or not be totally desensitized to try beginning to understand how awful this is to happen to someone at any age, but especially this type of crime. My crimes against me happened at age 6 by my cousin who was 9, who it was happening to her by her dad. You just never know a pain which you cannot understand and I pray you never do have to understand.

    There were sooo many "mothers" of my peers growing up that would throw parties & sleep w so many of the highschool guys. Even got pregnant by one, all while her poor husband was deployed and fighting for his life & country overseas. I never dared to attend any of those "parties" they were always considered the cool mom's too. Predators are everywhere and have been everywhere

    So apparently these coaches had relations with not one kid but multiple at the same time….?! So why is it no one said something? Clearly not all the kids were ok with it ? If they were all bullied, why did they all let it go undiscovered. Sounds like the boys thought it was cool or idk. Why wouldn’t they say anything if it’s not just one person. That’s a lot of proof.
    Why now? Stuff like this really blows my mind how I would understand if it’s just one kid. But multiple & all of them in a line waiting there turn. Like wtf. How is that even real! Blows my damn mind that these coaches allowed this & it sucks that they manipulated the whole team .they must have been really scary people if none of these boys said anything….
