I have always said that if I stayed in London I would always live in Marylebone. However, moving house to a country with a warmer climate has always been appealing. Or maybe moving to accommodation that offers amenities and location? My good friend arrives from Majorca and over a delicious meal from @Hellofresh, we look at all the options. Im in Australia, born in the uk came over in my mid 20's with work and intend to move back to the UK once my children are independent. There's so much more on offer in England - history, great walking, diverse landscape, National Trust, London, Europe on the doorstep ........The weather isn't everything and with global warming the climate is shifting everywhere with more extreme weather events. Bushfire season here is terrifying.
Take a 3 month stay, at an air B&B, in a warm European country for the coldest months here in the UK. Keep your London home or sublet for the time you’re out of the country.
We are at the stage of our lives where we contemplate where we want to downsize to living in a 2 storey house on our own now .The main thing is to have people you know around you and who care about you and to be happy . Feel it actually gets harder as you get older to come to terms with it all . Enjoyed the vlog 🥰🥂
I can’t see you leaving England permanently Jo. You have so many great friends who we enjoying seeing on the vlogs. Heading to a warm place for your winter each year might be a good balance. ☀️🐨
It’s not possible to live in Europe since Brexit, unless a person has a passport originating from a European country. I moved to Italy in 2015, and claimed Italian Nationality through my Grandfather.
Covid aside, it’s easy to hop on a plane back to U.K. for shopping etc.

@@Italiana911 It is possible to move to any EU country post-Brexit. And you do not need a passport originating from a European country to do so. You will need to apply for a long stay visa/permit and after a period of time Residency. Immigration Laws to all EU destinations are widely available on the internet. You simply need to google them for your chosen country and some websites even offer live chats with Immigration Customer Service. I hope this information is of help to those who need it.

Jo, as an expat living in greece I wish I had a base in the uk so I could split my time here and there . Also property ownership and maintenance is not easy abroad. Ideally you could pop off to warmer climates whenever you feel the urge and rent something for a couple of months and then pop back haha.
Hello Jo, from Portugal! Love your videos! I can think that you might consider to live in Portugal in the future! Is not so cold as England, we can walk in the beach even in Fall or Winter, Spring and Summer here is amazing. Is a little country, so you go to the moutains, you can go to the beach, countryside is stunning, even cities are much more calm. We have around 11 milions people in all contry.
In Portugal food is amazing, we have the best fish on the world and of course other sea food!
So... is a great opcion!!! Until sunday!

Just my 2 cents ... two years ago we moved from the far, far north of the U.S. where it is very cold and very snowy ... to sunny Florida, and been so happy with our decision. Living in a warm/hot climate is glorious! We only wished we could have moved sooner.
First thing I do when I See Jo has put up a vlog is hit that like button because I know it’s going to be good. ❤️

Leaving London is not a good idea Jo, you'll miss it too much and you'll get bored very quickly. In Mallorca or elsewhere. May be a few weeks every once in a while in a sunny country would suit you best.

I agree. Also a lot of Spanish property is not built for winter. I've met many people who have moved to Spain and say they've never felt so cold as they do inside their Spanish house in winter

Considering your busy life in London I honestly don't think you'd enjoy a lazier lifestyle. Everyone loves the idea in living in a place you'd go on holiday to, but in reality could you really do without everything London offers?
Yes but!! Any illness when you’re out there, expats can’t get back here quick enough for our NHS. Seasons are wonderful Jo and it means you can buy lots of different clothing, we have woods here that you adore and you’re precious about your skin and you know what the sun does to skin. Only go there for holidays Jo and enjoy our wonderful UK.

Totally agree. Lots of holidays but not permanently living there. Jo, you would miss all the variety of shops in UK especially London, and the theatres and Chewing the Fat etc etc! I lived in Costa del Sol for a year and it was frankly too damned hot to enjoy until early evening for most summer months. Sitting inside air con expensive and defeats the point of enjoying our later years IMO. Anyway with climate change the UK will be getting warmer so less need to seek the sun further south?
I’ve lived in Spain for over 11 years and have only experienced the best healthcare as have my parents who are in their 80’s. No waiting lists and the best specialists. I guess you can only speak from personal experience but my friends and family here can’t speak highly enough of Spanish healthcare both private and national ☺️
My brother has had his carpal tunnels on his wrists done recently no waiting and his shoulder operated on recently. Perfect, he would have waited years here.

You’re a London girl, if you don’t have family in New York I wouldn’t move their. It’s a very large city and fast past. The winters are so cold and snowstorms are a ruthless. Consider all and forget nothing. Really enjoyed the video.

Jo, it's not as easy to resettle in Spain post Brexit. You need to prove you have sufficient income to not be a burden and pay for your health appointments, eg your Asthma and inhalers, and any future issues you may have. I always thought you'd move to Sussex and live in your Mum's house.

Jo, darling! I've been living in the French Caribbean for 10 years now and I wholly agree with Frankie - it's so much more - peaceful! I could never move back to England. If you seek peace, I can also recommend to you Lisbon and Stockholm - you still get the convenience of a big city whilst leaving amidst peace

I live in Sydney but adore London. I could live there in a heartbeat. I really enjoy watching your vlog as I was recently holiday in the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Marylebone - fell in love with that region of London. ❤️

When a Man and in your case a Lady is tired of London he/she is tired of life. In my own case these have served me well. Wise words from Dr Johnson. I have tried living elsewhere. I was lucky to make it back. That Brexit chaos/nonsense has made things extremely tricky for many. And so expensive now. So do be very curious and with careful forethought. There’s only one Marylebone surely?
This discussion took place in the 18th century. In the 21st Century London is an incredibly expensive city to live in.

Your mother's house is so beautiful and cozy. I would move there.
The only issue is Brighton way , especially being so near to the coast. Can get really intensely chilly during the winter months .
My suggestion. Go to visit your friend in Mallorca and film.
In fact Jo, I think you should travel abroad more to video. Honestly can see your blog really "going places".

I live in Spain but I work in London but what with all the travel chaos and flight costs etc that could change how long that lasts! I do find London much more stressful than Spain but I’ve discovered over the years you really can’t have everything in one place so you have to choose what is most important to you and live with the things you can’t have all the time.I’d be open minded and creative and see what could be possible!!
I love the cooler days in the UK and couldn't bear to live anywhere hot! If the climate is hotting up everywhere, going abroad it may be just too hot and unlivable. Love the yoga place - looks so peaceful. I'm not on Instagram Jo so will not know what you are alluding to regarding your project. I watch all your videos from beginning to end on TH-cam and hope that you will share on here what you share on Instagram.

That's because everyone thinks Manhattan is the only place in N.Y. We have Long Island with the best beaches and Upstate N.Y. with mountains, Lakes and open forests and farmlands. So there are plenty of relaxing places in N.Y.

Lovely vlog. I really enjoyed it. You are a palette of many colours :) and the clothes shops are divine. I used to live in Abbey House right next door to the recording studios and the famous zebra crossing which features on the Beatle's album, Abbey Road. I would hang out of the window to spot the pop stars coming and going. It was an exciting time.

Here in the U.S., we have what are called "Snow Birds." These are retirees who spend their winters in warmer climate places like Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and then return to their primary homes in April. I also can't stand the cold but I really find navigating the snow an even bigger problem. That consignment shop was amazing. Here in NYC, our consignment shops are very pricey. That shop had amazing designs. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Jo!

Great vlog. Remember when you move abroad, its always important to retain a small place in the UK in case your circumstances change. I first visited Mallorca i 1958 and it is still one of my favourite holiday spots. It is lovely to see you in strappy sandals instead of those huge shoes. Margaret

Totally agree that shavasana is the most difficult posture in yoga. Even after 45 years of practicing yoga my mind goes into overdrive. It’s my biggest challenge.

i moved from MA usa to FL usa and it is night and day. my body is much happier. asthma gone. you should plan a travel vlog where you visit your friend in Majorca and do a vlog of it and all about it.
Use your 90 days to spend the winters in a warm place. Me, I don‘t mind the cold so much (and with global warming it gets less daunting every year), but the dark is horrendous! I live north of London so it is worse for me. I have two brothers spending about half their time in Mallorca and you may be far too active to enjoy life there. In those dark months I sometimes wish I could join them, but as a passionate cyclist I’d be so unhappy. Palma is nice and walkable, but is tiny as compared to London. Loved the Iyengar Studio although my yoga practice is the absolute opposite of his style.

hi Jo, in relation to a move because of winters you could rent somewhere for the winter months in spain and come back to London in the spring, summer in spain is very hot how would you handle that level of heat? my uncle has done as above the last few years and it really seems to suit him, love your vlog as always x

Sardinia is Italy, Corsica is France, both countries are Schengen area and all Schengen rules apply so going there for any number of days doesn't mean you leave Schengen and stop the clock ticking. It still counts towards the 90-day limit.

I don't think you could ever get England out of your system its so stimulating and very you. Rug up and put your heater on and or take holidays in winter overseas. Anyway where else could you wear your gorgeous coats.

I heard the only way to get around that 90 day return is to buy a half million house for a residence permit. Go for the coldest months and return. You and Dave may be neighbors on Majorca.
