    Very excellent video comparing the Freewell ndpl filter vs no filter . I recieved my mini 2 and Freewell filters yesterday ! My first dji drone I've been using the filters ndpl 8 , ndpl 16 which is your favorite filter?

    Marine stadium - sky is blown out with the filter and looks natural with no filter. Also filters add sun flare and glare like the red tint you mentioned later in the video. Filters are great for still photography where you can decide and adjust filter for each particular shot. However, for moving cameras like drone or helmet camera some footage is improved and some is even worse.

  • @E85_STI
    @E85_STI ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should have done the same drone footage with and without the filter instead of just a side by side as the filter would show you exactly what you are missing by not flying with one.

    I am not sure if this was addressed below but here goes. #1- Polarizing filters need to be rotated to get the effect you want. The best way to see this is to try and look through the filter(it's so tiny) and rotate the glass(there are ridges) and watch the changes of what you're attempting to video. When you find the correct rotation/angle...there's your sweet spot. If rotated to the wrong angle...the filter acts like a ND filter. #2- As for the water looking blue(straight out of the box)...you're seeing the sky's color on the water - not the color of the water.The polarizer, if rotated correctly, will minimize reflections with non-metallic surfaces. With all that said...your editing skills are excellent. Keep plugging along.

    Mavic Mini and Mini 2 both have issues when flying in really bright Sunlight, images look washed out and a lot overexposed. The filter makes it look soft and no harsh lighting. You can also reduce the exposure 1-2 down and it cuts down some reflections. Specially, checkout the sky with and without filter, with filter I can see more detail in sky or else it looks flat white and no shading.

    I’m confused. You show a filter/no filter spit view, and you switch to what is labeled as “no filter” at around 3:17. However, the un-split image matches the “filter” image that had been on the left, not the “no filter” image that had been on the right. Something seems backwards, in that apparently the left/right labels were mistakenly switched from around 2:50 to around 3:16, or the single label after 3:17 is incorrect.

    It nice that polarizer filter also make exposure more uniform, by reducing the highlights from reflective surfaces. Did you notice any instability of gimbal during the use of the filter? I am looking in future for some PLND filters to reduce also the exposure time.

      it really does. I have never had any gimbal or performance issue with filters. unless I don’t put the filter on correctly it kind of freaks out and flickers back and forth.

      @AerialMotionPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nope just the standard polarizer. I may have mentioned a nd 16 but it was just to say that was my favorite filter right now

    hey skip,
    so i just got my dji mini 2 today and was wondering 2 things man
    1. is it normal for the image to be kind of noisy? not from afar, but when you really look close, i see like little pixels formulating
    2. When using an ND filter, do you set your exposure to a certain level? -7 for example.
