For what its worth to anyone needing a fix for this.
once i was on the "hello" screen, i reset the phone by holding the power button and sliding the toggle, then phone then restarted and skipped the hello screen.

it doesn't work if you do it with a computer you never connected your phone to. 3utools doesn't run on Mac, I have a Mac and a PC at work. I tried on my work PC with the software and couldn't get around the certification code to trust the computer on the iPhone screen since I can't access it...
Waste of time in my case. Thank you, though.
