Mine wasn’t working for double tap. Changing the home button setting from 1 to 2 in settings, general has fixed it. Been a month.

For anyone who are here due to your phone getting wet immediately put it in rice even if it has already been 5 to 10 minutes I can’t guarantee but that is what worked for me today leave it for 15 minutes max and hopefully you can use your home button again.
