What do i have to do if I use AMD Ryzen processor?

    • @techmarksph
      @techmarksph  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Method 1: Enter a command in Command Prompt
This method won’t show you whether you have Intel VT-x or AMD-V. But you can find out if your CPU is capable of virtualization and if it is enabled.
Here’s how to run the command:
Press the Windows logo key + R to invoke the Run dialog.
Type cmd in the text box and press enter or click the OK button.
Type or copy and paste the following command in the window that opens and press enter:
      systeminfo
Wait for it to run. It takes a few seconds.
Once your system information is displayed, check the details under “Hyper-V Requirements”. If you see “Yes” for each detail, it means your CPU is virtualization-capable (could be either Intel VT-x or AMD-V). However, the “Virtualization Enabled in Firmware” detail might show “NO”. If that’s the case, you’ll have to enable virtualization in your BIOS.
Method 2: Use the utility tool provided by AMD
      Visit support.amd.com/en-us/search/utilities?k=virtualization.
Download the AMD Virtualization™ Technology and Microsoft® Hyper-V™ System Compatibility Check Utility. It is a .zip file.
Go to the download location and run the amdvhyperv.exe file.
Select “Yes” when prompted to extract files.
Once the extraction is complete, go to the extracted folder and run the amdvhyperv.exe file again.
If you’ve run the file on an Intel computer, the result will fail. However, if it’s an AMD CPU and you get a message that says, “This utility did not detect an AMD processor,” then it means it does not support virtualization. But if you see a success page, it means your AMD CPU supports the technology.

      @techmarksph  ปีที่แล้ว

Maybe because your BIOS doesn't support UEFI settings. But it doesn't matter even if you don't have UEFI firmware, VT-x is might be still available.
This processor supports the Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) and the Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT), these are features that you can enable or disable in the BIOS, however, it depends from your system manufacturer if they designed the your system to have that or no enabled in the BIOS.
It is possible that since this is an OEM system the Intel® Processor Identification Utility it not reading the information from the BIOS that is detected from the processor but this processor support the virtualization mentioned above.

@@RDXKannan What exactly the problem? You can't access the BIOS settings? If your pc comes with pre installed windows 8 then later on you update it to windows 10, there is a different way to access the UEFI settings.
If you don't see the UEFI Firmware Settings tile here, your computer doesn't use UEFI. That means you'll need to access the BIOS in the traditional way, by pressing a specific key during the boot-up process.
Try one of these keys before your pc turns on:
      F2
      F1
      Tab

Hi, my pc supports virtualisation, and it's enabled in the bios and in the control panel whit also hypervisor, it's enabled in the task manager but not in the intel detection software and system information display: "A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed.". This page, docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/virtualization-apps-not-work-with-hyper-v , says that's because I'm already running a software that use the hypervisor such my virtualbox or Boinc Manager, and I can't start Bluestacks. I'm trying to solve this, if anyone has any advice, I'll thanks him very much. If I fix it, I'll post it later

    • @techmarksph

Yes it happens sometimes when you are using both Virtual Box and Bluestacks on you pc. Since the hardware cannot be shared between two virtualization applications, the VM interferes with bluestacks when VM is still using the Hyper-V Hypervisor in the background. Make sure that no program is using the virtualization before opening the Bluestacks.
Have you tried to disable the Hyper-V Hypervisor in the control panel so that Bluestacks can use the virtualization freely?

To be able to install some emulation or virtualization software, it requires the CPU chip on your computer to support Virtualization Technology. For Intel CPU, this technology is called Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT for short) or VT-x), and for AMD CPU, it is AMD Virtualization ( AMD-V for short).
Since NOX Player is an emulator, it needs virtualization to boost its performance.
If Virtualization is enabled, the performance of the Nox App Player is even better.

Unfortunately, Hyper-V is a server-side application up to Windows 8.1 and upcoming version of Windows 10, which include it in the client, too (as the update of Virtual PC).
Therefore you won't find it under Windows 7. In Windows 7 the optional virtualization software is Virtual PC (Windows XP mode). You can download it in the download base on the Microsoft pages.
Under Windows 7, you can install the optional Hyper-V Management client, though you will need Windows 7 Pro. With this management tool you will be able to control/administer Hyper-V installed on a server system, from your client.

@@Oizys_Hiraya You will see it once you entered the BIOS setup. If you are not sure with this, you can take a snapshot of your BIOS then send it to my email, I will try to find out how you can see the VT settings.

@Carl Johnson Maybe because your Bios version is different with mine, but still there is an option where you can find VTx options.

Ok. If your laptop came with pre installed windows 8 (8.1)
this how you can enter the BIOS setting:
The easiest one to find is in the PC Settings application.
Press Windows key + C to reveal the Charms bar, click Settings,
and select Change PC settings to access it.
In the PC Settings application, select the General category and
click the Restart now button under Advanced startup.
Your computer will restart and you'll enter the Windows 8's boot options menu.
From here you can access the UEFI BIOS and change other settings.
Once you've restarted and accessed the boot options menu, you can enter UEFI BIOS.
To do this, click the Troubleshoot tile.
This will reveal an Advanced Options screen with a variety of tools.
The UEFI Firmware Settings tile will take you to your computer's BIOS.
If you don't see the UEFI Firmware Settings tile here, your computer doesn't use UEFI.
That means you'll need to access the BIOS in the traditional way,
by pressing a specific key during the boot-up process.
      Try these keys:
      F2
      F1
      Tab
      Fn+F1

      Try these:
1.) Enable your VT through BIOS
      (or this)
      2.) Update your BIOS
      (or this)
      3.) Replace your CMOS battery
