I am also very interested in VR in architecture. But have real concerns of how it has not been integrated in the education and the Professors in university do not seem to accept the versatility of the technology. I am a masters interior architecture student and used it to visualize everything in my last project,. The professors were super impressed but told me it was something that wouldn't catch on... which is ridiculous. I think is sad that in education there is no room for the new generation of innovators to start right away in teaching positions and we have to receive "old knowledge" that is already out-dated when we start to work...

I must say - architecture & design no matter how creative - is very trapped into its own space. And when it comes to technology - they are simply afraid of not knowing, failing, learning new.
We need to change the mindset towards benefits of technology in architecture rather then "its gonna take our work off".

Liien, Perhaps it is up to the public to insist that educational institutions keep up or lose customers. One thing I am sure we all have learned about how the internet affects things is how feedback and community ratings can make or break a product and education should be viewed as a product and be subjected to the appropriate rating systems of the internet communities thereby giving the potential student/customer more input into the process. Schools may be influenced to for example, require professors to engage in ongoing education to keep up with the ever changing educational technological landscape.

vr has barely been on the market next year 2018 there will be 6 cheap light convenient and pretty great headsets with controllers from MS partners and windows will have a vr shell.............and vr is what windows was to dos.......pc graphical interface only this time at the level of your reality
and the first year of vr was extremely expensive and low on content and the rift controllers were out 9 months after the vive came out.....that's why it didn't explode right away
don't worry the wave of cheap vr is coming

True. We're lucky, in a way, that the VR is actually progressing fast and now we're even closer to the new oculus GO (for example). Again lighter, cheaper. This just opens new doors which will again open another.

The big issue between clients and architects is that sometimes its diffcult to let clients know what the architects' thinking or the design idea. In communication, the graphics or drawing is more efficient than words, and 3D model provides more visual effects than 2D graphics. Now VR in architecture creates the virtual enivronment of the buildings, it will make clients to understand what is going on in those inside spaces within the building. The better way of communication in architecture. COOL THING.

hi! is there someone who can give me a tip how I can start with virtual reality work? I am a ´classical´ engineer, electricity and power systems, but I would like to get on the virtual reality train... Thanks

Hey, i've just begun learning about VR architecture.
Begin with Unreal Engine 4. It is intuitive to pick up however the learning curve is quite steep initially, luckily for you and me both there is plenty of tutorials and tools online.
Certainly begin with a small project, and figure out how to complete ever aspect of your design scope. Move onto bigger and better things from there.
You will need a VR headset to experience the VR part, but you can design with a mouse and keyboard initially.

VR has been commonly used in psychology and education/simulations. Its fascinating indeed.
