    The sensivity of the obstacles detection is working. When the rubber sealing around the door gets icy, this presents resistance and the door won't open because of safe mode.

    Do you have a rough idea of how many actual distance driven vs miles of range used? On average, my 22 X plaid uses 100 miles of range for 70 actual miles driven. This is highway driving at about 75MPH mostly flat, temps about 60F.

    • @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774
      @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I've never run the #'s but frequently do a drive of 170 miles one way and arrive with out 20% left, which would mean 242.85 miles actual miles drive vs the 311 stated range.

    • @franebay
      @franebay ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774 That's about the same as my observations on my 22 MXP. EPA data shows the 22 Model X Plaid is _more_ efficient compared to a 18 Model X 75D. Unfortunately, either the EPA is way off in their testing, or Tesla provided a test vehicle much different from what you and I received.

    Nice video, thank you Carlos. Let me do some calculations: you have 610 miles for the trip, with $110 total supercharge cost. If we assume current gas price is $4.3/gal, $110 will buy you 25.5 gal of gas, and its equivalent to about 24mpg with a gas vehicle. My Highlander will get me that mileage pretty easy. Where is the cost of saving with Tesla? Let me know your thoughts.

    • @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774
      @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Since it was my first trip I charged longer at each stop than the navigation recommended. So I ended up charging (and paying for) enough mileage to go 796.6 miles (+186.6 extra miles based on epa estimates and SOC when I got home) which if my math is correct would mean an ICE vehicle would need an efficiency of 31.2mpg to achieve that range. With the weight, cold, and elevation we'd surely get less in the Tesla but still more than 24mpg.

      I would like to share my experience in my friend's model 3 long range on this same route with roof rack carrying ski and snowboards on the roof. It took us about 9 hours on the way up and 7 hours on the way back b/c we were constantly charging. The car performed poorly with roof rack in cold weather and my friend was barely touching 65 mph to optimize the range. The only good thing is his model 3 long range got 1st year free unlimited charging deal. I just did the same route and same setup a few weeks ago in my 4wd station wagon, 3.5l v6. My speed was about 75mph to 80mph outside of LA and the trip lasted about 4.5 hours each way. I only had to stop once in Bishop for gas on the way up and no gas stop on the way back. I went to get gas next day after back in LA and the entire trip cost me $137. It is only $7 extra per passenger in the vehicle for the entire trip comparing to this video super charging. For me, not having to waste hours charging and holding on to my number 1 while my bladder was about to explode is priceless.

    • @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774
      @thegoodtheplaidandtheugly4774  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neversummer78a I can't speak to what happened with your friend's 3 but know that external storage cuts range in both EV's and ICE vehicles. I've never done it in the X but am also curious what the hit would be. This trip the charging added 1 hour, which is 15-30 mins more than it's taken in my friends SUV because we'd stop to eat anyway.
      That said, this argument that EV's take too long to charge compared to pumping gas is just silly at this point. Add up all the time you spend driving to and from gas stations in a year, and the time you spend standing there in cold or hot weather filling up and it's way more than the average EV owner spends plugging in at their house 95% of the time plus the 5% supercharger waits. It's nonsense.
      Add in the time for oil changes (and cost), transmission / diff maintenance and you ICE owners just don't realize how much time and money your gas car costs you. It's a money suck and they're designed to be that way.
      In the last 6 months owning the X I've saved $592.00 vs gasoline and in the MYLR over 1 year we've saved $1,267.00 vs gas with virtually zero maintenance.
      I grew up on muscle cars / offroading jeeps and I loved those vehicles so I get the nostalgia. The days of mechanical combustion propulsion is over.
