Hi everyone. AT LAST! we get our hands on a Tesla Model X plaid to try in the UK. I’ve been in the Model S Plaid before in the states but this is a European Spec Model X Plaid from Germany, kindly driven over with the partnerships we have with
    custom-tesla.com
    temagazin.de
    bev.community/
This is the first of 2 videos we will publish on this car. This one is all about the interior and exterior differences and especially the new cabin design, new screen, new dashboard , build quality.
What do I think of the Yolk steering wheel?
Second video will be more about how it is to drive, my overall opinion, plus what the efficiency in England is under “normal” driving conditions plus the charging speed. It now boasts native CCS and 250kw charging speed even though it’s 400v and not 800 volt battery architecture. We pitch it against a Porsche Taycan to see if it could be the new charging king.

Round wheel for me, I still remember the launch of the Allegro & it's "modern" take on the wheel. I can see the Yoke working for some people, but I was taught steering techniques that you can't use with a yoke, so for safety reasons I would stick with round wheel, it's always worked for me - no point in re-inventing the wheel!

I have had the Yoke on my Plaid for over a year, and I like it. I'm using it as my "Daily Driver" in Alaska, so I encounter the necessity to use the Yoke on the snow and ice more than one would normally be forced to. After a while, it becomes very intuitive, so my advice is to at least give it a chance. The driver's screen visibility makes any small quirks irrelevant.

Thanks for your real world review Richard. For me the yoke as this is complementary to a better view of the information in front. With practice one can get used to most things. Tesla are very good at some things but it bemuses me how they can put standard brakes on that car!! I know they are now offering a carbon ceramic brake upgrade for the S and X plaid but that should be standard considering the price point and performance, even dangerous! It will be interesting to see if the brake upgrade for both S and X are offered to new cars in the uk once final pricing and final configuration are available for those who have ordered. Looking forward to the next video on this car 👏

I’m a massive Tesla fan, Investor and owner, I’m struggling to justify the jump from Model Y to X. The only thing I really want is the falcon wings. Model Y 55k to model X 100K is quite the jump, yes it’s plaid but that’s just a gimmick, the cars are fast enough. Anyway, just my 2 cents. I have a reservation for CT which I prefer as I like using my car for road trips but it could be too big for London roads. Interesting times

Hard to believe the panel alignment is still so bad on US Tesla’s after all these years. You’re correct - it’s simply not acceptable on such an expensive family car. You’d see that gap every day and question your decision.
Also - don’t Tesla now off the yoke as an option and the round wheel as standard, and not the other way around?

After each drag run I was trying to be gentle on the brakes and that’s why had to keep reversing back into radio contact!
We did several tales of course.
Mat had also previous filmed another video with the X so knew how bad they were.
So they were hot and then trying to do an emergency brake was well beyond their capabilities. Woefully undersized for a car this heavy

As a UK MS owner for 7 years a round wheel. I cant imagine using a yoke in London, it would be a nightmare with all the tight bends. Essential controls like horn and indicators that change position according to the wheel position are also a nightmare and a safety issue. You need to feel the position of the essential controls.

Great and very balnced review as always!
That also applies to the Model S (LR and Plaid). But most who will buy this simply do not bother about money. And that they are produced in Fremont is for me a total no go, since the quality out of Fremont is substantially inferior to Shanghai and Berlin.

Round steering wheel for UK because we have many roundabouts. I have a Model Y which is not much smaller than the X when you see them side by side. Falcon wing doors on the X are a stupi idea IMHO - what did Elon say "the best part is no part" - so lets make the most complicated door on the planet - which, by the way, lets water in when raining. See Ben Sullins review on the Model X - which sums up why I wouldn't buy one.

@@HDHQDIRECT its a steering wheel not a wheel wheel. When’s the last time you seen someone riding a push bike with a steering wheel on it fool. Mind you don’t get the acceleration and the brake pedal mixed up with those very big shoes your wearing 🤡

You’d be upset with these panel gaps on a £30k ID3 never mind a £133k Model X..I always feel Musk is thumbing his nose at Tesla buyers in the knowledge they’ll buy it anyway. After all these years to still have terrible panel gaps, no centre armrest for middle row seats and by the initial inspection no full Matrix headlights is just not good enough. Never mind all that says Musk, your seats can make farting sounds, a log fire on the centre screen and it’ll hit 60mph in 2+ seconds…all very useful. He doesn’t deserve such loyal customers.

Unfortunately quality problems are there . I had the opportunity yesterday to sit in and look at the lotus eletra . Both examples quality and finish are light years ahead of Tesla , they really were impressive, I do hope Tesla take a close look and up their game as otherwise the competition is coming after them !

Thanks for the excellent video! Some great features I love but build quality (risk) is a key reason why I decided to keep my ‘23 I-Pace order and not the Y or the X (which I can’t afford anyway).

@@butoikaruga ..Mate..that’s irrelevant. Got friends with S and X, much more interested in the BIK..that helps turn a blind eye to the poor build quality.

100k and panel gaps you could park a Yaris in
I didn't realise when musky was saying the batteries will outlast the car he was just going to make the car 💩
    Sorry, it weighs you? 🤣🤣🤣
I do love you (headlight fetish aside) but all Tesla's are rapid, unless youre actually worried about embarrassing someone in an Aventador why would you waste your money on a plaid?

There’s no way I’d pay that money for a Tesla with such bad build quality.
It was funny how you kept saying what wasn’t good but then said everything is great 😂
