Good heaven what a gift to music world David Bowie he was. Unique voice he had. That‘s how an artist should: musical an ace, looks unbeatable and voice incomparable!
Lyrics: When you speak, you speak to me When you sleep, you sleep by me When you wake, you wake with me When you walk, you follow two steps behind in life Shadows stalking, ever grasping, sinking for a need It wasn't love, it was the fix of never wanting me Now I'm gone, you're tossing and you turning in your sleep That's the name of the game, of the game, of the game Cry, Miss Peculiar You'll cry all the more, now I'm gone I was the monkey on your back Take a look at how lucky you are When you speak, you speak to me When you sleep, you sleep by me When you wake, you wake with me When you walk, you follow two steps behind Cry, cry, Miss Peculiar You'll cry all the more, now I'm gone I was the monkey on your back Take a look at how lucky you are Some days are heaven, I will not deny Probing the daylight, cascading the skyline Tripping and diving and losing it all Back came the night time, living for more Cry, cry, Miss Peculiar You'll cry all the more, now that I'm gone I was the devil monkey on your back Take a look at how lucky you are When you speak, you speak to me When you sleep, you sleep by me When you wake, you wake with me When you walk, you follow two steps behind La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la La la-la la-la
Does somebody know if this song was released on any of his albums? I can’t find it anywhere (spotify, deezer). So sad, this song is such a masterpiece!
I think this is the only sexist song Bowie ever did! It seems like his version of "Under My Thumb" (lyrically.) But he abandoned it and I'd like to think because he wasn't in the end comfortable with it! But it's a good song and I like how he sounds in it - he's got the Ziggy era voice happening...!
He probably wasn't uncomfortable with it at all. He wasn't sexist at all. I think this song is purely just a work of fiction, he has a song on The Man Who Sold The World about a man in the military that goes crazy when the war ends and continues to murder civilians, that doesn't mean David was a crazy killer. 😂 He recorded a song for his first album in 1967, that was heavily about nazis, abortion, and cannibalism. He just wrote songs that were really peculiar like that, he loved telling weird stories with his songs, those songs aren't a reflection of who he is at all. I think this song is a jab at men who are actually sexist and controlling. He has a ton of other songs that are about unsavory characters, but this is already WAY too long, but just don't judge him for his funny way of thinking.
@@angelinastardust9857 exactly! He described himself as a writer above everything else. I heard an interview where he said that even at primary school, even though he wasn’t academic (possibly dyslexia) his stories were better than everyone else! 😁
A very good song. There are many unreleased gems in the Bowie back catalogue.

You should really ununlist this! It's one of my favorite Bowie songs and I think the best version on TH-cam.
I forgot I had it set to unlisted, public now!

Yea - nice one. Last part always reminds me of Revolutionary Song from Just a Gigalo
That’s what I thought too
* gigolo
If I had to guess- just from the voice I'd say 1971-2
Yah, I was thinking "MWSTW"/"Hunky Dory".
The ultimate break-up song, really

Bonjour, j'aurai voulu savoir si c'était l'enregistrement du 23 avril 1971 au studio Trident. Merci pour le remastering
Good effort indeed. Way better than the muffled version available.
💜🤘🏿
Bit Velvet Goldmine too !

Its about a guy who is in the closet who loves him. So is the man who sold the world. Stop with the dumbass feminism. Its annoying

that's all you can do
what do you think of the last brick of a box set
do they really sound that bad ?
probably as good as they'll ever get if I'm being honest.
