Imagine being ten years old, still in love with Jurassic Park, and wanting to read the novel the film is based on. You’d be in for a terrifying awakening…
I love how you used the teaser trailer music throughout the video, perfectly capturing the eerie tone of the novels. As for the book-only scenes, one of my favorites not mentioned here was when Lex encountered a baby Triceratops. It a pretty sweet moment, considering how she bonded with the young dinosaur by feeding it and even naming it Ralph after one of her friends at home.
When you were talking about the Carnotaurus scene I think I should’ve mentioned. I also illustrated that whole scene that you could’ve use with the most recent one being the best of the three versions of that scene that I did or two considering that what I did was fix the audio of the newest one. 😅
43:50 It is actually for this reason that I have a strong hatred the Jurassic World Dominion Prologue along with the fact it is supposed to actually take place in the Maastrichtian age of the Cretaceous period with actual dinosaurs and not bio-engineered clones.
Not to mention the severe anachronisms shown in the prologue. The most grievous being the Giga and Rex living alongside one another, when the former died LONG before the latter even evolved.
If Jurassic Park has a remake closer to the novels pray that it doesn’t have an unhappy ending Ps. A carnosaur remake sound a lot better given it lesser known then Jurassic park and it actually is supposed too be a horror story
The Jurassic Park novels are honestly some of the darkest and grittiest books I’ve ever read, and I wish there was a remake of this movie that was a direct adaptation of these novels
another well done video review. yeah, i remember reading the books back in high school and was honestly surprised how different they were from the movies and how much darker tone they had. it would be a really bold move to do a reboot movie to more faithfully adapt the book considering the original JP movie is so beloved by everyone.
Read the novels for the first time about 3 years ago and yeah, even I was surprised for how more graphic they were with its Dino sequences and darker tone in general😄 But either way loved the hell out of the two
I have the Lost World novel written by Crichton himself and the only bit that I remembered well was a Carnotaurus carcass in the afternoon of San Diego zoo.
That was supposed to be the “Ornitholestes” that Levine got the skin sample out of just before the local authorities scorched it. My own belief is that it was not an Ornitholestes but one of Sorna’s Velociraptors. My reasoning: in the first novel the raptors clearly have a more mild color changing ability that, while not as sophisticated as the Carnotaurus, still creates color variety in the animals according to their mood. Case of point, the captive ones being more yellowish while the pack that was breeding in the volcano was closer to the same green shade of color displayed by the animals in the second novel. Just my two cents.
Robert Bakker was actually the paleontologist who book Grant was inspired by. Also Bakker was the one who alongside John Ostrom popularized dinosaurs being warm blooded active animals closer to birds and they were the ones who kickstarted the Dinosaur Renaissance. Basically what I’m saying is that Bakker deserves all the credit for some of the stuff you credit to Jack Horner.
Come to think of it, if Stephen King were to do a remake of Jurassic Park now, it would definitely keep all the extremely gruesome and bloody death scenes as well as having a much darker tone like the novel.
After reading the original Jurassic Park book, I have to say even though I love the original Jurassic park film, it’s pretty tame if you compare it to the book. Not only did the book have dinosaurs that weren’t in the movie including the Styracosaurus, the stegosaurus, Carnotaurus and the Maiasaura, but the book has a bunch of incredibly messed up and horrifying moments, yeah the original Jurassic park has dark moments too, but overall i’d still say the movie is for a general audience, like people of any age can watch it. It’s like comparing a Disney film to its original book source material, obviously the two are going to be incredibly different. Also we do have to give credit where credit is due, to Micheal Crichton, he really doesn’t get as much respect for this franchise, it’s always Spielberg who gets all the credit. Honestly, i wouldn’t mind if they wanted to make a more book accurate film to the original Jurassic Park book, I did hear a rumour once about how Universal wanted to just completely reboot the franchise, and remake the first movie but make it more accurate to the book, kind of like the 2017 IT when it comes to tone, but whether or not that will actually happen is a mystery of itself.
@@BigJackFilmsthank you i’m especially proud for the Riverraft illustration that I made and the village with the camouflaging Carnotaurus, currently I’m working on something that’s not Jurassic Park but Star Wars (Not Disney) it is Star Wars death troopers and I’m working on chapter 3 after I finish chapter 1 and 2 and I’m almost finished you keep up your good work too and have a great day👍🦕🦖
It’s interesting how Lost world is virtually “in name only” it’s so far removed from the book, you could re-adapt it with a few minor changes and it’d still fit neatly in the film continuity.
Creepy, gory and great book. Given Hammond is very similar to doctor Moreau i would’ve seen him played by Burt Lancaster had him been alive. I can clearly see Jurassic park owes a lot to The island of doctor Moreau and Frankenstein.
The books were much more darker in tone is downright disturbing and its depiction of animal attacks with people getting eaten alive dismembered foul oder that's left from their bodies at the dinosaurs made their kill with scavengers present and the foul smell of decay and that's what's intriguing about the books compare to the films and they're different tones not love both the books and the films absolutely adore the Carnotaurus design from The Lost World novel they are an absolute big threat on the island alongside the rexes and the raptors ❤
@@godzillabebravethetrexretu1381 💯 percent I agree with Jack if you wanted to retell the first two books the best thing for it is to reboot the series give it to Stephen King It treatment and make it darker in tone and more faithful to Michael crichton's novel and call it Michael crichton's Jurassic Park I pay money to see that as well as Jurassic world 4

The only way I would support a reboot or remake of the film series. Would be if it was a more book accurate adaptation of the original novel. Even then the original classic movie. Would probably remain one of my favorite movies of all time. Plus seeing another remake of a classic (Jurassic World wasn’t a remake) film. Wouldn’t sit right with me.
Can’t tell you how mad I was when I finally read the book and saw that Muldoon lived instead of died and even sadder is that the final draft used for the original film was the only draft where he dies. Muldoon can never get a good ending 😢
28:25 Ah, ah, ah. Crichton was actually a screenwriter before he became a full-time book writer. In fact, West World was a movie before it became a book and Crichton directed it. Hell, Congo started out as a screenplay before it eventually became a book. So you saying he's a better book author than a screenwriter is kind of insulting. Plus, blame the director for Twister's quality, not Crichton.
I was just rereading The Lost World and this comes out. Lucky timing. Also, Harding, Gennaro and Muldoon survived the novel. Also, Westworld wasn't a novel. It was a film that Crichton wrote and directed himself.

I could definitely see the novel working well as a HBO style miniseries adaptation.
That would be something after works like game of thrones and dark materials
I love to start my own Jurassic Park movies and I’m a great fit to the Jurassic franchise.
