This is actually a really fascinating topic. I really like all the ideas speculated in this. A Disney Renaissance/Post Renaissance animated Kong movie would've been neat to see! :)
I'm really loving your ideas for a Disney-styled "King Kong" movie, especially regarding the depictions of the natives and dinosaurs, the overall art direction, and even giving Kong a large squirrel as a companion. I can imagine the latter forming a symbiotic relationship with the giant ape, but maybe keep it as a normal animal to make Kong's relationship with Ann Darrow stand out more.
I think Phil Hartman voicing Carl Denhem would make sense, because he was the voice of this Simpsons charater Troy McClure, which is a reference 2 Doug McClure because he was in dinosaur films of the 70's like The Land That Time Forgot & At The Earth's Core.
It’s pretty amazing that the Kong Monsterverse anime series is being made by the same people who did Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. And from what I’ve heard of, they’re really good! So I have faith in the show
Actually I heard rumors that the Kong anime series on Netflix will be made by the people who made the Castlevania show. Which isn’t really an anime since it was made in America but shhhhhh don’t tell anyone else that. Seriously though, Netflix has the Transformers War for Cybertron trilogy labeled as an “anime original series” even though the show was made by Rooster Teeth, which is a company based in Texas.
I have no idea why I thought this was about Kong: The Animated Series at first. I guess I forgot what channel it aired on when I was a kid, I could've sworn it was either Toon Disney or Jetix. And then I found out you reviewed that series just 3 weeks ago! What a coincidence!
Hey Jack, could your next Let's Talk About video be about Kong crossing over with other fictional creations either from comics novels, tv, or movies. Plus, since Kong has crossed over with Planet of the Apes Tarzan, and Doc Savage anything is in the realm of possibilities and who's knows maybe one of your Kong crossovers will come true in the future.
So far so good! I like yours and Hewy's ideas for a possible Disney retelling of King Kong, and since Godzilla vs Kong came out last week, I've been on a Godzilla and Kong kick and been marathoning your Kong videos because I find them interesting and entertaining. Plus, it's great to hear Hewy's voice again other than his collab with Media Hunter on Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Really cool let’s talk. Now that you guys mention a Disney Kong film in the style of the renaissance era, I can really imagine it. The animation style and the voice cast and character designs.
There's going to be a King Kong anime on Netflix? that fits considering that there going to come out with a brand-new Godzilla anime called Godzilla: Singular Point.
Overall, this was a fun bit of creative speculation! It's certainly warmed me more to the idea of Kong through the lens of the Disney Renaissance. I guess in another timeline, King Kong becomes a 90s Disney classic and Tarzan becomes a 3 hour action packed epic from Peter Jackson. lol In all likelihood, Ann and Jack would be cast with relative unknowns from Broadway like most of the Renaissance films. Personally my casting for the iconic trio would go something like this, based on Hollywood stars who can also sing and would have been considered great for the time: Ann Darrow - Gwyneth Paltrow Jack Driscoll - Bruce Campbell Carl Denham - John Goodman Although a dinosaur property that would better suit old-school Disney Animation sensibilities would be Dinotopia. Now that could be really special... once Disney gets their shit together.
I just hope Disney can make a King Kong movie hell they should even bring back the lost spider pit sequence just like how Peter Jackson did in the 2005 remake
3:15 we finally meet at last but you two already know each other In Fact Hewy you helped Jack to stop an evil empire and heck you two knew each other so much that Hewy gave Issac a way to contact Jack.
Great ideas! I know part 2 is probably fully recorded but it would be so cool if you made a collab with any artist who would turn this characters and scene ideas into concept art (concept fanart?) for a future video.
Me too, I'd like to see how it plays out. We could add some newer original characters like Bruce Baxter who appeared in Peter Jackson's iteration. I've been thinking of having a big game hunter as the film's main human antagonist who was hired by Carl Denham for protection then later agree with him of capturing Kong and later takes him back to NYC It would be even cooler to bring back Vastatosaurus Rex too.
I'm okay with it as long as King Kong and Annie Dawn Darrow end up together. Fans have been waiting for Kong and Ann Darrow to end up together since King Kong 2005. But it's clear that she hasn't been born in the Monsterverse yet.
Here me out but instead of Disney making an animated King Kong, it’s Universal. It’s basically based off the 05 remake but with most of the violence toned down to fit a more family audience while still being an action-adventure. In this alternate timeline, instead of Universal pulling the plug on Jackson’s 98 script, they instead give him the option of producing it as an animated adventure film for the whole family to enjoy. He accepts this opportunity so while he’s producing animated King Kong, he gets started on Lord of the Rings. So in this timeline, I imagine animated King Kong comes out in 2000, the turn of the millennium if you will. It’d be an interesting concept. For instance it’s cut down to an 1 hr and 45 mins, the insect scene is cut due to its graphic nature and is replaced with Jack, Carl, Jimmy, Lumpy, and Preston fighting off a giant lizard, akin to a Komodo Dragon, before captain Angle horn and Bruce come in to save them, no songs will be required except for “on top of the worlds” for the opening, several scenes will involve a lot more friendly dinosaurs to give some whimsical elements, like lumpy feeding a stegosaurus while Billy is seen riding a triceratops, while the brontosaurus stampede still happens, Herb doesn’t get eaten by velociraptors, instead he’d fall off a cliff, the battle with the T. Rex will be cut to just one T. Rex and Kong’s finisher (where he snaps it’s jaws open) will cut away to Anne’s eyes going wide right as he does it and Carl denim will be given a more anti hero roll but won’t be too antagonistic. At the end right when King escapes to find Anne, the audience will see his guilty face over what he’s done and before the Air Force arrives to do battle, he’s seen trying to redeem himself by demanding they ceasefire and allow kong to go back to the Jungle, but it would be too late causing him to say his final lines “‘twas beauty killed the beast” ending the film with Carl leaving the scene in shame over killing Kong while Anne and Jack grieve over him. It wouldn’t be as big of an Epic as the 05 version, but I’d imagine it still be a neat family film non the less, with a bittersweet finale waiting at its end, and it’d be hailed as the one animate film that took the biggest chances and treated kids like adults for. So what do you think?
I really like this idea. I feel like since this is a Disney movie it would have a happy ending for Kong but with an intense emotional finale similar to mighty joe young. I also think if Carl Denham is the villain, then part of the final showdown is him piloting a plane trying to shoot Kong himself. His motivation would be after Kong escapes his chains, Carl Denham goes insane from losing everything because of Kong and makes a last ditch effort to appear as a hero to the public by killing Kong.
17:45 -- I've been clumping together an outline for a King Kong/Toho-verse fanfic fir awhile, and part of it turns Skull Island into a prison island used by the worshippers of Mothra where they exile killers, rapists, prisoners of wars with other tribes, etc. The modern day Skull Islanders are the descendents of these exiles, making them a much less sympathetic bunch than the society abused by Denham and others.
@@shelbymckinney8888 But I also think that, Cheech Marin should also voice 1 of those sailors, since this is Disney there talking about, because he was in Oliver & Company & The Lion King, so yeah he would fit right in Disney's King Kong.
I feel like that if disney put a monkey sidekick for kong the relationship and look would probably be similar to diddy kong and in ironic twist a fate nintendo would try to sue disney for that.
Why not Fay Wray? Like in the legend of King Kong and the King Kong 1996 scripts where she was supposed to say the final lines it was beauty killed the beast I was thinking like Betty White Cloris Leachman Polly Holliday Maggie smith Lily Tomlin Rosemary Harris Sally Field or Gloria Stuart could have voice the character in this in arguably it would have been a great cameo in this Disney remake

I’m hoping it’ll be hand drawn because I still miss the old school animation

I really like the idea of Kong having an animal sidekick. It would work so much.
It would indeed!
I'm curious if the Netflix anime will focus on Kong's life before the 2017 film. Or his life before his battle with Godzilla.
They'd still tone down the violence a lot
I would have the villain in this disney king kong be a member of denhams crew that betrays hims and trys to kill kong
That would make an interesting difference from the original.
Maybe it could Denham set up to be the villain but instead have his assistant or partner be the true villain.

Ok so Netflix kong skull island anime I would see that and I hope gorosaurus makes it to the monsterverse
And will there be a talk about of what happened if Godzilla was made by Disney after part 2 of what happens if King Kong was made by disney
I mean Netflix is just only the distributors behind it, Legendary are the ones who are involved in making it.
If Disney did make an animated king kong movie I can guarantee they would’ve gotten Frank Welker to do the vocal noises for kong and the dinosaurs
Great now we just need Don Bluth's Godzilla
Your right. 3 hours is too much.
They should go for 4 hours!
I think Alan Young the Original VA of Scrooge McDuck, should B the voice of Eagerhorn.
In my Skull Island, I would have Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Parasaurophus, Arsinotherium, Carnotaurus, Dilophosaurus, Mosasaurus, etc.
Hewy toonmore , now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time .
