What I hered is that General Echo was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Former P.N.P. COUNCILOR Clinton Davy O/C Jingles send a hit on big John because he owed him money and refused to pay him .I think I hered one of them did have a license fire harm in the car at the time.
I was priviledged to have meet his mom at a serior citizens home . There were a lot of old feeble people living there . She spoke to me many times about her son Genersl Echoes music . She was so broken about what they did to him. You could see the love and sadness on her facial expression as she spoke . Wherever i made my visit to the home she was always there to greet me and tell me a story . I went one week and heard that she had passed . I can still picture her sitting on the bed all by herself looking out with a deep deep stare at the horizon . General Echo must have been her only son ....she died in that old people home a broken woman full of grief and pain ....... grieving for the lost of her beloved son . So sorry for your lost my dear ....may your soul now be at rest . Sleep in peace now .
This dj changed the way djs chatted on the mic so many djs come from his lineage he was a great story teller. Lone Ranger Ringo Welton ire Django Papa San Papa Levi Stitchie Yellowman Daddy Willie Papa Benji. Dirty Desi Desi B all these djs some you know some of them you don't know some are Jamaican some are UK based djs. But they can all trace some of their styles from this great originator his tapes in the late 70s were like gold everyone wanted to chat like General Echo. Years ahead of his time that's why he was so popular. Ringo took his style and became a great lyricist himself. The great Papa San took up the dj mantle in Jamaica and made a lot of djs start to write lyrics. If you can listen the Stereophonic tape with Echo at his best at Tavern in Jamaica 1980 it's a classic a very sad loss to the industry. Remember these djs chatted on the mic from midnight until morning and not repeating lyrics that is talent in itself. The nowadays djs are not capable of doing it. Trust and believe
