9:36 YES! 1980s and 1990s whimsy, dark, fun, fantasy. Sword in Stone, Labyrnth, Legend, Wizards, Willow, etc, etc. I love that setting because truly ANYTHING is possible. It's not all dark, it's not all happily ever after. You get it all in one
I didn't watch the Witcher. Tv and movies isn't of much intrest to me, but I'd watch 40k or warhammer fantasy if my wife wanted me to watch TV with her. Was witcher good or just bickering like a soap with some swords and bows?
If they do a TV show set in The Old World I actually hope they focus on telling smaller, character driven stories. Let the big politics and characters be in the background, at least in the beginning. Take inspiration from something like The Enemy Within Campaign for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. An introduction to the world from the perspective of everyday people who are drawn into an intriguing story, and who can then grow into epic heroes over time. I'd love that.
I would imagine they would just do Gotrek and Felix, it's chapters are each basically a TV episode, it's got a big built in fanbase, they're genuinely good stories and they introduce you to the old world brilliantly.
@@oitoitoi1 I would personally love that. But I wouldn't mind new original characters either. Also, what are they going to do about (dare I say it) ... dwarfs? Are they going to ignore Peter Dinklage and actually cast short actors? Or will they go the way of Snow White's uncanny CGI monstrosities? Or perhaps use forced perspective/digital trickery the way of Peter Jackson. It'll be interesting to see.
First reaction was 'cool, but probably not the thing the Empire needed' (which is new Knights and Grand Masters). What is cool about these models that the plastic kit is a good 'hero wizard' and these looks like Lord Wizards so when you include both I think they'd make for very charismatic duos.
There was a Caville interview where he talked about playing a bunch of Total War Warhammer 3 which would fit with the idea Fantasy in that announcement might mean Fantasy.
Will never happen, but Dan Abnetts Riders of the Dead was always my favourite WFB novel, could act as a good entry point for The Empire, Chaos and Kislev simultaneously.
Lovely, wonderful wizards! Also, to support your theory, orc n goblin AJ has a wolf ridden by two goblins on the cover!!! We were robbed indeed! Edit* oops you just mentioned it! Love you guys. Another edit* Clint Eastwood as a BloodBowl coach?
The reason these wizards are so important is because when i was looking at the core rule book i saw the battle wizard and thought. "We need that model in the empire release, that such good art" and then this model came out! But then i started to look back and realized just how much alot of new models look like portrait art in the books. Burlok and frydal looking basically just like their portraits, and this model being released. Means that A. we should all be digging through the books rhat come out for this game too spot new models and B. It convinces me that any named characters that do not have kits already have their kits built, possibly even painted, and waiting for release.
Like the art for burlock and ungrim doesn't look like they made the art and then produce models. But that they made the portrait based on the model that had already been created.
these new wizards absolutely Ooze charm and charisma. there's so many cool little details mixed in without making the minis too busy to look at. you see a silhouette of one of these and it's a perfect wizard every time.
Would make the most sense just like how Ciaphas Cain would be the best option for 40k, but they won't do either because it's not the poster boy faction.
ubersreik five TV show would be awesome but gotrek and felix is a slam dunk. Perfect pov character in felix and you basically get an introduction to every part of the world through villain of the week episodes on gotrek's quest

Storm of chaos, but from Archaons POV. Have him battling with his morality on his climb towards the title of The Everchosen then through the actual SOC and getting bonked on the head by Grimgor

2:48 I like the whimsy. I will be using all 3 in a Christmas themed Empire army. These 3 are literally perfect for the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. I am not a big fan of the "grim dark". I approach fantasy more from the perspective of a Tolkien fan looking to play something other than LOTR. I like the mix of grit and fantasy, guns and magic, grim and hopeful. Just like life.
I’ve been saying this for a while, big studios follow the money and the big money is total war! I can totally see a fantasy battle/old world show in the future
I like the idea of each season being centered around one massive battle. And then each episode has flashbacks of characters' past adding background/world-building/story. Not unlike how "Lost" did flashbacks.
The ‘little guys’ do have rules. They’re arcane familiars! They don’t have to rank up and often are put on the same base, especially if the wizard is mounted, but it’s a physical representation of an upgrade. Essentially a WYSIWYG extra model 5:33
I like that the wizard models look like pre-6th edition warhammer models done with modern technology. I plan to pick up the old man and his gnome for my Westerland Army.
So, is the second mage more of an amber (beasts) mage because of the amber spear and the antlers, or is it more of a jade (life) mage because of the sickle and green triskelion pendant dangling from the shaft? Perhaps he is a mage who can manipulate both jade and amber winds of magic before the eight colleges are founded, which force “specialization”; hence mages eventually manipulate only one type of wind typically. Great model. For purists who want only a jade mage, people can cut away the antlers and paint the stone in the staff a jade shade. There is room for “play” with this versatile model.

Harsh, Rob. Harsh!
Also Rob is dead right on Apple TV and Sci-Fi. Foundation and Severance and For All Mankind are all amazing.
Could someone enlighten me on the nature of that necromancer wizard? I thought lore of death mages were called amathyst wizards and that straight up necromancers weren't allowed in the empire, is he actually going to be raising the dead?
Two grots, one pot
"Warhammer Fantasy Battles" = "Warhammer Fantasy universe" right ?
You sure AOS would work well on TV? Amazon butchered Wheel of Time, I wouldn’t have faith in them on that. But since they have Cavil he would at least keep them on the right path
