This man is one day going to be described as a Legend... He will be described in history as a fine intellectual with prose and poetry, music and bhakti on his tongue. Like R. K Narayan, Rabindranath Tagore, Leo Tolstoy..... We are all witnessing history being made in the world of music and literature

For all abrhamanic followers , this is is how creation happened and not in seven days and how good looks his appearance is beautifully described in this suktam, which none of your books can even dare to explain

Be blessed all the time. some Tamil words left me in confusion & the question session too. we didn't hear questions of listeners. Next time better give them mic. It's commendable that the young speaker has packed the lecture with so much information, and he has been spreading the ancient wisdom of Indian scriptures around the globe. The explanation of 'Purusha' was a case in point. He has a sizeable following and can exert an influence on them. This makes it all the more important for him to move with the times and desist from propagating misogyny and superstition in any form.
Yes, I am referring to his topic on instructing ladies to just listen and understand but not to recite the text. Even if there were such injunctions in the past, it behoves him to at least ignore such discrimination and get on with spreading the spirit of the original texts.
    We are in 2016.
Wish the young man the very best in his tasks.

I have been reciting the Purusha Sukta and have not taken pain enough to understand it's import nor did it bother me for the past 50 years.
Dushyant in this discourse betrays an excellent repertoire and has the command of Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada. He interfaces well with the present awareness people have on Purusha Sukta and slowly brings them up to a higher awareness, demystifying the Sukta in the process. the present age of revival of the Hindu form requires this interface which creates the interest not only in the Purusha Sukta but also in the Hindu concept of religious thought and practice which has undergone numerous changes without proper religious audit and have 'fallen by the wayside' as it were. His knowledge and talent of faultless musical rendering of Shri Swati Tirunal, Shri Thygarajar and other great composers along with the meaning of of the Kritis is memorable along with the juxtapostion with the explanation of Purusha Sukta. The Kamban Ramayana has also been helpful in sinking in the meanings.
Humorous annotations keeps one's attention riveted and it one feels time flying.

Thank you for this excellent meaning + interpretation of Purusha Suktam. I could enjoy your Tamil jokes too, though my Tamil is very rudimentary.
But your last 40 minutes were noticeably hurried. You seemed to have far more that you wanted to say.
Can you please post a few more videos on the meaning and interpretation of Purusha Suktam? Without the time limit? I could watch 4-5 one hour videos of yours on Purusha Suktam's meaning without getting tired.
I really liked what you said - especially how your interpreted the verse on Brahmins from the mouth etc - a lovely and logical interpretation.
PS - please consider adding English subtitles to your existing Tamil videos on Purusha Suktam - they woudl greatly help those of us who do not understand Tamil that well.

On the yugas, some some say we are not in Kali Yuga any more but in Dwapara Yuga, which is nearing completion in about 70 years... According to this view we are actually in the junction between Dwapara Yuga and Treta Yuga ... the end of one major cycle as our sun moves closer to the "super sun" over the Solar Year cycle (25,920 years)... Traditionally, each age ends with a major upheaval.. Kali Yuga began around 3100 BC and lasted approx. 2500 years.. After that, we entered Dwapara Yuga (2500+ years and counting to Treta Yuga, which will be then followed by Satya Yuga). We are therefore approaching a Golden Age after an imminent major upheaval, which will occur in the next 100 years or maybe even sooner.. Who knows anyway? These are cosmic cycles beyond the influence of humanity and we'll have to face these events when they occur. Maybe some of this will not happen in our lifetimes, but any observer of the planet would conclude that this world is deteriorating due to senseless actions by humanity - from imbalances where you have super rich to millions who struggle each day to get even one meal to lack of energy, resources and over population that seems to be out of control .. What a mess!

+Noel Heyden - Purusha Sukta is found in all four Vedas. Rig Veda - till ony 'santi devaha' - 16 mantras. Shukla Y.V also the same. Krishna Y.V, it comes till 18 i.e. 'santi devaha' inclusive of 'vedaham etam' and 'dhata purasta'. Sama Veda part is smaller and so is Atharva Veda. 'na-anya-pantha' is being commented by Sayana as 'the only way to realise being the knowledge of Virat Purusha'. Bhatta Bhaskara is not very convincing in his lines. Ranga Ramanuja says 'the only way to liberation is the knowledge of the purusha we have now witnessed as virat'. So Bhakti or Prapatti as the means is deciphered by seeing it with Krishna's statement as 'Mattaha Parataram na anyath'

Very well spoken and very intelligent, but really sad that he doesn't speak the entire lecture in English, its hard for non-Tamil speaking people to follow

I have a doubt regarding your claim that A AA E EE comes from the crude sounds of Vedas. Now, when my Guru explains the first Thirukural,
    அகர முதல எழுத்தெல்லாம் ஆதி
    பகவன் முதற்றே உலகு
he made a different claim that is still verifiable. He said when you open a closed mouth, the sound அ comes. This means the natural sound that any human being would make when he opened a closed mouth is அ. This அ sound is the base for all the other sound. You can test it yourself. We make some adjustment in the shape of the mouth opening and tongue to make this அ to transform into Ee and so on. Hence, Thiruvalluvar is correct when he claims அ is the base for all the alphabets in the world.
