I would very much like to see the effectiveness based on single keyboard tracks, I.E piano, synths, pads, strings, etc. I do not think technology is at the stage to accurately decipher chords from a full mix accurately.
Yes maybe it will work slightly better with that. Maybe something for a follow-up test when they introduce an updated version 😉.
This function could be used as well to create a chord sheet out of a given song or a part of a song.
Yes excellent idea. Would you do that right in cubase using some of its notation features (which I’m not so familiar with), or just copy the chords into another application?
You can do it in Cubase using score but it does not so professional to give it to the band to play they have to do something about that but i believe you could use in combi Dorico from Steinberg but i am not shure

Export the whole lot into 1 wav file then use Cubase to detect then, are the results the same?

Yes I see that on the Steinberg website as well. Unfortunately I cannot try it out for you as I don;t have Cubase Elements. Maybe someone else can help you over here.

Thank you for this video, I compared it to Melodyne
In fact, the result was disappointing. Melodyne was very accurate compared to Cubase
Also, Melodyne has more professional features compared to Vari Audio
I Convert between audio and midi, and the important feature of melodyne was POLYPHONIC
Never really used Melodyne myself but always hear positive comments about it. Thanks for your input!
@@LanewoodStudios I was like you until I tried it especially when I tried it with Studio One
They are very compatible. I convert audio to MIDI through the daw itself in cubase i cant do that only if i open the melodeyne standalone
Meoldyne also They devoleped and created the lower window ARA that used by Cubase for extensions.
..great feature but needs a lot of work, studio one does this much better...regards

What is the same exactly? Some things I’m showing are indeed in cubase 11 as well. But the main audio to chords feature was added in cubase 12. www.steinberg.net/cubase/new-features/
Cubase 12 professional is so inaccurate when it comes the chord tracks this is a place they really need to improve upon. The human should not be doing so much work here it should be automatic.

I guess it depends on what level of accuracy you need and what kind of music you want to analyse. It's a good start at least :).

@@edwardtheodore1427 nice. I got into Tribal Tech when I was at MI, which is a bit of a rock/jazz fusion as well.
That music might be a bit more of a challenge for automatic detection though as the chords can be quite complex and can also often be interpreted in multiple ways. I would say just try it.
This isnt very useful if you donot know the chords of a song and trying to find out.
Depending on the song it probably gets you 50-90% of the way. The rest is correcting by ear.
@@LanewoodStudios I use Nuendo can this be done there as well? I would try but I use it to be able to work our song chords for practice. Keyboards.
@@edwardtheodore1427 unfortunately I don’t have or know Nuenso very well. But I understand that usually the features trickle over although you may need to wait for another version. This was added in Cubase 12.

I do not know why they rolled this out, it is shockingly bad.
I’m sure they will improve it as time passes and I’ve used it a couple of times already myself 😅.
Hi I import a track of voice, but cubase do not transform in chord track. Why?
I guess because your voice track is monophonic so it does not contain any harmonic information.
