Another awesome clip Pete, shows the new Dobyns rods off well, I'm definitely keen to get into the light gear on barra and that also. Thanks for sharing
Got the same rod Pete , but set up with a low profile reel,PE .6 braid and throwing the 2.5”curly grubs on a 1/16 jighead . Awesome on the bream . The 7’4” rod will be next
Nice video mate. That last fish you hooked could well have been a dirty big morwong I reckon. There’s a fair few really big ones getting around that area lately. With that said, there’s also heaps of smaller kingies in the central bay at the moment too!
Good video again Peter. I liked your chat to Doc Lures on squid too. Mate you would likely have enough video and screenshots of your sidescan and downvu imaging to do a video on sounder reading and what schools of snaps and jew look like on the sounder, including sounding wide to find them. Would be great to see... Cheers mate!
Hi Peter. Love your videos mate. I grew up fishing the southern bay & I learn something every time watching your videos. I've always been impressed by how you use your imaging gear to locate fish & pin point your casts. I would also really appreciate a video focussed around that topic. Love your work. Cheers.
I have a Shimano Stile and was not that keen on fishing plastics with lighter jigheads ie 1/4oz until i matched it to a 7 foot Samaki, it has the same action as the rods i use on my spinning outfits and is great to use..
Hey mate, went the XG. Went pe #1 and not sure how much. Not a lot 🤣🤣🤣. Might drop down to pe #.6 in amz 4strand as I find 4 strand is better on baitcast reels.
Getting bitten off a lot around mud and in the port just like that. I dropped a little metal lure down a few time and brought up a few big puffer fish. You think it might be them?
Hey mate, do you mind helping pick the right conquest reel please dude ? I want the gold one, with click drag, for light lures. Also a nice light whippy rod to go with it. Thanks
The videos just keep getting better Pete. With you new boat set are you still using the humminbird tranducer on side scan on the minn kota. Noticed you have just gone to the single humminbird now.
@Peter_Herbst_Fishing cool I'm looking at mounting a helix mega side imaging to my minn kota very shortly your previous set up made my decision worthy. Excellent work very enjoyable plus heaps of knowledge passed on.
Peter BFS doesn't stand for bait finesse special it stands for bait finesse system(s). Bait finesse techniques originated in japan to target higher pressured bass and trout in particular areas closer to or in the cities. Fishermen used smaller than usual baits/lures as the fish responded better in higher pressured environments to them. Sometimes using micro plastics and hardbodies or even small live baits. The Shimano Calcutta SE is probably the reel you would find more suited for the types of fishing that you do. I have all the new Calcuttas. The SE and BFS shine in smaller areas but the SE is more suited for larger lures 7g and above. Not that the BFS cant cast 7g and heavier just fine, but the SE just cast heavier lures 7g and above just better. Many people are having troubles with the bfs Calcutta casting. As its designed for "flick casting" a form of BFS in Japan. A side armed cast or a side ways flick is how you get the most out of the BFS. Caught hundreds of bass last season on the bfs Calcutta. All models are really great to float line with and for inshore trolling. Managed to stop a 15kg on the 400 MD. Try the gosun 16 ply on the Calcutta instead.
@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing Pushing the boundaries of light gear isn't always something people are keen to do or able to. Snapper on the Calcutta is super addictive! I would have to say that getting a Jew or barramundi on one would be the dream. Definitely did well and made the right decision and did yourself a good service by getting one. Sounds like you are enjoying it too. I'm not sure if you are into flipping frogs for bass but it's super accurate at light plastics, frogs and lures into cover.
@@samasimOFsh pretty hooked on light gear when I can. Sharks are a massive issue and rule that out most of the year unfortunately. I’ll be making the most of it while I can!!
@@Peter_Herbst_Fishing Been hearing that sharks are supposedly endangered lol. Have been having a crack at some good fish on the 1000sspg vanquish. Not sure which is more fun tbh...

Really fun easy quick session mate.
Oh that combo is so good 😍😍
Well done mate that looks like it was a really fun session and a great feed of snapper!! New BFS outfit looks cool!
Cheers mate, yeah sweet feed, 10 litres of fuel and off water before 10am 😍.

Nice work

Hey Peter which reel did you get in 23 Calcutta conquest BFS - HG or XG. How much 8lb sunline fits on? What braid do you prefer?
Hey mate, went the XG.

Not a lot 🤣🤣🤣.
Might drop down to pe #.6 in amz 4strand as I find 4 strand is better on baitcast reels.
Peter do you know if there are any good sized snapper at the jumpinpin or nah??
Very hit miss down there for snaps

Pretty sure they were all tailor in that spot.

@@nathanmorgan5399 gold ones are 100, 200 and bigger.
What size line and lures you plan on running?
I'd like to run something like a thin 10lb quality braid and typically smaller 3inch max size lures. 1/8oz jig heads maybe
@Peter_Herbst_Fishing hey mate, I've got the calcutta 200, what's the lowest braid you reckon I should use ? obviously want to avoid backlash etc

What’s the drag on your bfs Calcutta Peter? And how much line do you have on it? I have 0.5 pentagram on mine and it only just holds 100mtrs
Think 3kg and f’all of pe 1
what pound line do you recommend for saltwater bfs i use 6 pound braid rn with a 10 pound leader do your think that is good enough?
That’s pretty much what I’m using myself mate. Pe 1 and 10lb leader.
It’s so much fun 🤩
