    Great video as always I have a question for you why did you put 5 eggs under the satinate instead of putting 4 under her and 4 under the mongral pair, them being 3 norwich and 1 greenfinch ? As i would think this would be better beacouse they would have a more manageable number of chicks to rear.

    • @OCAVIARY
      @OCAVIARY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankyou😁 I did that because the greenfinches were set earlier than the Norwich so there will be a 4-5 day difference in hatching which will then be an issue so it keeps chicks together of a similar age and size

      @@OCAVIARY oh ok did not notice that. Fingers crossed all those norwich eggs will hatch and the other norwich will rear there own young. Good luck.

    How do you clean the droppings off of the nest from the chicks? Tweezers?

    • @OCAVIARY
      @OCAVIARY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, however generally I’ve found the hens do a good job of cleaning the nest of droppings

    Hi there Oliver
    I have a problem with one of my mules,I think I have given him some more Pearl bide and it must have been to dry he is just sitting on the bottom of the cage any idea how to help him

    • @OCAVIARY
      @OCAVIARY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, hopefully he should have passed it by now but if so make sure he’s taking seed to hopefully take it down. The only issue is if he has too much water is could possibly swell inside him

      @@OCAVIARY it was to late he was on the bottom of the cage but died the day after it leaves me thinking it wasn’t that because none of the other ones are ill

    i"m Portuguese and i like your videos,like your pasion ,similar to.mine... but why you call them British finches and not European finches like we do??!! The way you pic the eggs its easier to break them,better pic them in the end of the egg !!! Cheers

      Hope you enjoy

      @@OCAVIARY sorry what I meant is I'd like to see more goldfinches
      tip: you can put the eggs in a water of 37 degree if you see that they are moving that means that there is a chick and it will be easier for them to hatch idk if it works with the other one's I don't see them in my country I'm in the middle east so there is most importantly goldfinches and American goldfinches

    Handling the eggs is a bad idea, there easily broken plus you could be killing you're best youngsters off the season better off leaving them alone, I enjoy the videos doe 👍
