Us over here in Singapore owe the Bangladesh people many thanks for helping build our public housing and other infrastructure that keeps our little island going. ❤ I find they’re such avgeeks too, lots of love for their flag carrier Biman and they love planespotting! This video is gonna do much better than you can imagine.

Biman is a traditional full-service airline with a long history, long-haul service, a modern fleet, AND the national flag carrier of one of the world's most populous countries. So, I don't see why it's "non-mainstream". It might not be as famous as Lufthansa or Emirates, its service may be limited in the number of destinations, and its home base may be located in a largely underdeveloped country out of the itinerary of the majority of international tourists and businesspeople, but still, there's nothing out of the ordinary, marginal, or outlandish in Biman to place it out of the mainstream. Plus, as we saw in this video, its service may not be spectacular, but it's still better than what I've seen in recent Lufthansa reviews.

It looks like it's getting lots better and I'm excited to see the improvements! Heads up that the H in "Sylhet" is not pronounced -- you could even say "shill-ETT" if you wanted, since in Bangla there are 3 different letters pronounced "sh" -- and the emphasis in "Dhaka" is on the first syllable. :) I'm off to watch your other Biman videos for some deshi nostalgia!

Great video! As for feedback re this being filmed by Felix - I thought the footage he captured was just as good as we are used to :) the only thing I would say though, is at the beginning I found it somewhat confusing that Felix's footage was being narrated by David in the first person (e.g. "I ordered a vegetarian meal) when David wasn't actually there. Personally I'd find it a little clearer if David is narrating for him to use 3rd person "Felix ordered a vegetarian meal" etc. But that's only a minor issue - another excellent review as always!

Great and honest review. Not that you should have had to, but did you not ask for a blanket?
No alcohol service for beverages means Biman isn't trying to diversify its passenger base. Biman remains for Bangladeshi passengers with just a handful of other passengers onboard if any. But new aircrafts and mostly non-stop flights make Biman relatively attractive for mostly Bangladeshi passengers (no food or language issues).
After some terrible management issues of the past, the airline is trying to turn a corner. But we have been disappointed many times before. I will be flying in one of Biman's 787-8s from Manchester to Dhaka (via the pit stop at Sylhet) in a few weeks' time.
Note: A second hot meal service (breakfast or supper) in a 10 hour flight is fast disappearing amongst European and North American carriers. Biman must maintain its edge here. Lots of Biman food means lots of Biman passengers.

We need more direct routes from Bangladesh to European countries like France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and even Italy. At one point, there were routes from Dhaka to New York, Dhaka to Tokyo and even Dhaka to Athens.
Doesn't have to be Biman operating those routes. It would be better if Dhaka gets airlines like Lufthansa, KLM, Qantas, Air France, ANA etc.
I don't know why they discontinued those routes as they would help the country but quite a lot.
Let's hope when HSIA T3 is fully operational, new routes come or continue the discontinued ones.

Worth noting that their B787-9 business class has a 1-2-1 configuration. Biman also charge significantly more if you plan to get off at Sylhet especially since FlyDubai stopped their Dubai - Sylhet service back in 2019.

Bangladeshis will always choose Biman unless other airlines on the route offer 40kg luggage also

Biman comes from VIMANA which is a Sanskrit word . Viman is used in other Indian languages also 🧐

Obviously Bengali language itself evolved from Sanskrit... Most of the words we use are Sanskrit origin.

Sorry to say this but this is one of the worse airline in the world. ask the Bangladeshi people who travel with it. They are forced to use it because it’s one of the direct plane that goes to sylhet. Over priced ticket. People would never use this airplane if there was other options

There used to be alcohol available on request in Business Class when I flew them 15 years ago on their DC10 and A310. Even Champagne. Don't know if this is still the case though

Nice to see you finally made a TR on Biman. I hope you enjoyed the flight. Issues with blankets are pretty normal, maybe that's on demand. I saw the same thing in Turkish Airlines economy class while flying from Istanbul to Chicago, they didn't provide any blankets. I don't know whether you have flown to one of their Dash 8 but if not then do so next time. Also suggesting to make TR on the following services of Biman
    1) Dhaka to Kathmandu or vice versa (VV)
    2) Dhaka to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur or VV
    3) Dhaka to any middle eastern destination or VV. Make sure you get a Boeing 777 here.
    4) And offcourse the Toronto flight. Hope you will get an overall idea about Biman.
    Enjoy your upcoming journeys.

Good vlog. For blanket should have just asked. Normally they provide to everyone. Biman is good for family with children and OAPs as it's a direct flight to Sylhet. Food is excellent. Young adults travelling on their own opt for other airlines...

I’m 3 months late to this video, but I remember commenting like 5 years ago for you to fly Biman Bangladesh Airlines and finally you did! And yes Biman has improved alot with their new Boeing 787. I’m a Sylhetti and live in London and so Biman is a convenient flight

For flying direct to Sylhet Biman now charges extortionate rates. Before you could travel for £600-£700 a few years ago, now a economy seat costs £1,240 - £1,450. They are always late, then get fined by Heathrow Airport as a result they pass it on to their passengers. Their prices are also extremely high because they got no competition. As a result a lot of people are not able to fly. So, now they charge business class prices for economy. Btw, someone usually comes around with blankets in the evening or some time after take-off, dont know why you didnt get one 😏
Not all the food is edible, specially the round tea-time fritter-like snacks which can give you stomach ache and make you run
