I spent 7 weeks travelling from Santiago north to Arica - LOVE Chile soo much!! I was a solo woman travelling through the country and felt completely safe. One of my favourite countries in the world!
Chileans are also very friendly! If you need to get directions or recommendations or just company, most Chileans will be willing to try communicating with you. Also, don't be afraid to reach out! English is becoming pretty popular, so finding someone who speaks English should be easy. Great video!
Another possible recommendation: if you come here, beware of tremors and earthquakes. Educating yourself further in this regard should allow you to handle these situations better. Tiembla más que la chucha acá
Edmundo Hermosilla very true! Though it is hard to prepare for earthquakes travelling anywhere. Had to deal with some serious ones last year in Indonesia. Thanks for the comment!
I'm half Chilean and I never thought that other people thought that Chile was really Touristic. I mean.. I gotta admit, Completos, Sopapillas and Empanadas are SO good. Great work on that video! You did really well and gave some pretty useful tips!!
Bianca O thanks for the comment! It’s such an amazing country and really hoping the citizens of chile can find what they’re looking for around this time. Great people, and great place!
I'm Soo happy to watch this video about my country! Thank you so much for making it! I think you describe in a friendly but real way a lot of details about my country! Happy to see that you love it and enjoy it! Funny thing: I live in Canada 😅 but Chile is always on my mind! A Chilean hug!
As a gringo, I'd say Chilean Spanish was the hardest to understand for me. I lived in Santiago for three years and got used to it but it was really hard to understand at first. All the "Ja po, si po, cachai" was really confusing. It sounded like a totally different language. I haven't had as much problems with Dominican and Cuban Spanish. Did you go to Punta Cana? That seemed to be a very popular vacation destination with my co-workers. The easiest Spanish for me to understand is Colombian and Peruvian.
David I just got back from Peru, and have to agree. The difference I found in ease of understanding was quite huge. Not saying there’s anything wrong with the accent, but as someone who is not perfect with their Spanish yet, it really was noticeable
i was in chile one month ago. but i,m going to tell that chile is my homeland, currently i live in spain for approximately 23 years, in general is easy to move from one place to another from north to south due to there are low cost fight or domestic flight, so if you are planning to stay for a short period of time moving by plane could be a good option, i,m going to give one important advice never change your currency inside the airport, its better rates in the city center, but credit card are widely acccepted everywhere, best regards to every one.
NOMADS ik😁 turned in my form first thing this morning!! I only know of one other girl in my class turned in her form in but idk bout the rest of my grade still fingers crossed wish me luck🤞
Its up to you. If you prefer winter go in august or july the sky centers are open those are even better than in aspen. If you prefer summer go december january or febrary there are a lot of beaches along the country almost 3 thousand kilometers of them hahaha for real. If you prefer spring go september wich is the month of the country a lot of parties and national food. Have fun.
Tip 2 is outdated since gas has gotten too expensive and sometimes airplanes are cheaper. Tip 3 also needs a reconsideration as crime has increased a lot in the past few years

Fly! Trips that are too long will not be comfortable. The only good reason to do that is that you absolutely don't want to do anything in between and you had no time to book a domestic flight. Assuming you don't wanna visit anything in between you could book a domestic flight to Arica and take a bus there to La Paz but there you'd have to compare between the international flight straight to La Paz and the domestic flight. Really you don't wanna spend a day or two on a bus.
That would take forever. It would be at least two days and you'd want a sleeper bus. Break up the journey by stopping at places in between. Better yet, fly, although be ready to start gasping for air when you get off the plane....La Paz has seriously thin air. The crazy bike ride from up above La Paz down to the jungle below was unforgettable. Don't miss it but dress for all sorts of weather. Lake Titicaca is great, too, although I had trouble sleeping because the air was so thin. Might have been better to give myself more time to get used to the altitude.

My wife got whistled at a bit and some men would yell "Chinita" at her (she's Japanese ancestry) but that was the extent of it. We lived in Santiago for three years. Good info. Background music was distracting, repetitive, maddening, and too loud!
11 . Chile moves a lot...like ...ALOT one step and its moving hahaha
What *po* means
Its just used at the end of a sentence to emphasize it to the person you're referring to, example: hola= hi
hola po = hi its been long
It's just standard Spanish with their own peculiar accents.
The info was OK, but that music was horrible and you could barely hear him.
