I have been to Santiago de chile 10 times in 15 years, I love Avenida apoquindo, Los condes. I would happily end my life there.

Oh yeah, other Hispanics say Chileans talk weird. They're relatively more industrious and self sufficient as far as national economy goes. I live part of the year in Panama. I was thinking about going to Chile for a couple days, and then head to Australia.

We cheated and used Google Translate a lot there. The Chileans seemed to get a kick out of it and it worked, so our lack of Spanish was no obstacle to having a great trip there.

Doesn't work well with Chinese or Japanese unfortunately. At least get the gist of what they are saying.

My advice is if you go to Santiago be careful with your wallets, smartphones and cameras there're so many thief from Venezuela, Colombia and Haiti.
The local people are very quiet, warm and friendly but, for an average tourist who goes without any information it is difficult to distinguish the difference between one and the other and sometimes because of them we look very bad to the tourists.

Chile has the largest copper mines in the world therefore their pasos expensive plus high taxes makes everting cost double to U.S.A. My favorite place TIRAMISU pizza on Avenida apoquindo in Los Condes. I enjoyed your video very much. Ty

Interesting presentation for US citizens who might be happy to find Mc Donald or DHL offices or doughnuts (not as cheap as expected) in Chile . The US citizens will be happy to hear that in Chile they can taste the best wines in the world . Just beware of spanish, italian or french imitations ah ah ah. I used to recommand to European travelers keen on learning something interesting about Chile to screen the highly documented TH-cam Andrei SOKOLOV's videos. Santiago may look like San Francisco but Andrei avoids mentioning any reference to Russia as all europeans do about their own country ...

Only one thing about the flushing commentary: it's absolutely false. Its a filthy habit from some filthy people. That's all. Common people don't do that!

  • @christinedecker4936

About the not flushing toilet paper, that's not really true. The owner of the airbnb didn't want to have an overflowing toilet problem, so probably had a sign in the bathroom which sayd please don't flush toilet paper. The pipes are wide enough, it's just people don't want to bring a plumber in. You also see that sign in offices, and public places, but it's really not necessary, and unhigienic. I've never done it.

Don't forget about recommendation for female backapackers to NOT travel alone or in couple,
due to that violence in Chile to women is huge, im Chilean/Swedish and hear many Swedish but also other female backpackers from other countries in EU that has been robbed or attacked from aggressive thiefs,
the worst attack i have seen persona seeing l was the Austrian female that got attacked in Valparaiso, she got kicked from the back and felt down a long stair with resulted in terrible injury.
I love Chile but never for staying for good, i rather keep living in Sweden for the rest of my life!
