This old dog has learned something new from Bill's class room 101 single plain versus dual plain on a LS thats one mighty little motor for just a cam, intake and carb by the way the junkyard dog t-shirt is awesome. Uncle Bob's truck turned out to be one good looking truck and im sure you wont find one that has been better taken care of. I wish you all good luck at sick week. God bless and as always be safe.
Bill Knew What he was talking about on that Intake Manifold ! Ya just can’t snuff the old School guys, we might not be computer savvy but common mechanic sense wins every Time! Great Job Bill 😁👍🏼
My 5.3 LS in my 2002 Suburban 1500 LT sure does have a ton of torque and it’s totally stock with 162,000 miles on it and runs smooth like a brand new sewing machine. Bill great video and full on pro edit. Thanks for all your time and hard work making these videos. ❤️🐕🦺🐕❤️ Well guess I’ll be buying a couple of these new shirts for myself and my granddaughter.
I am enjoying watching Bill get excited making good power out of a LS. Carbs aren't dead yet - I think Bill has proved that. I also don't think a junkyard 327 old school small block can make those numbers in a comparable situation. That dually does really look brand new!! Those guys are the best - and good luck to Billy with his awesome '55 on sick week -my fav in your fleet. (Gandpa's was - but.....) drag week is truly the test of a real street car..
Hey Bill! Fantastic and learning video. This is what I like. Great job! Learned a lot. Keep these coming please. The boys will keep the racing going. Always a big smile when Miss Vicky comes on air. Wonderful job. Look forward to the next one. As always stay safe! 😀😀❤️

should be close to the same just more power. the bore is the big difference. 5.3 is 3.78 and 6.0 are 4. for a na set up on a 6.0 rec port ls heads and good cam will make a massive swing for you. that combo should make over 475 with ease.

@@enigmacamarothose rec port heads are massive for a production head and they raise the power potential considerably. I believe peak flow flowers, while not everything, are comparable to those gen 1 trick flow 230s or the 220 afr's. I feel like it's a trade off, air flow vs cylinder sealing with the LS vs SBC. More difficult to have symmetrical style ports with 5 bolts per cylinder but it's been done. The LS would have benefited from that one extra fastener.
The brake fiasco looks very similar to a cummins game of chase your tail! The deck truck looks........fabulous, guys! Outstanding video. Don't let Rooney get wind of brake gate. Steve will not hear the end of it if rooney shows up again.
Bill and Miss Vicky are, have already called it " our truck " so imo they already had been leaning towards buying it but after jaxwax, its OMGs now !!! Difference between the before and after was like taking it out of the showroom..that guy is great at his craft!!!
Lets get some Devil Dog oven mitts up in here!!! LOL Give me 10! Great video Bill thanks for taking us along! But seriously who is with me for the Devil Dog pot holders and oven mitts?? Be way better than the ones the wife makes me use currently! LOL
YES, A GREAT VIDEO WITH BOB THE ENGINE 🚂 BUILDER!!! Also, loving 💕 that Jimmy Dale for President shirt 👕!!! Jimmy or Bob for President, yeah 👍. At least the country will be ran right, a smooth running machine! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
Thank you for uploading another awesome video. I was wondering, have you ever thought about having diecast replicas of your Malibu, Billy's truck, and Tommy's Falcon made? I'd actually buy everyone, and I'm sure your other fans would buy them. Just a thought. I received my Sub-Zero shirt this past week from Billy's channel. I'm actually wearing it right now. ❤❤ Keep up the good work guys!!
Oh my gosh, it was sooo funny hearing the Old Man talk about his kids. Taking on the heat for Billy's slow orders and mistakes, what a good Dad. Plus, his Mom helping on the orders, also, a very awesome Mom. A Mom or Dad don't have to chip in on a grown man's business. After High School, that's it! Everything else is the kindness of their hearts. These parents DO SO MUCH FOR THEIR KIDS. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE TO witness who have never had that kind of love or help. Great job AWESOME PARENTS TO TWO AMAZING 🤩 SONS!!! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
I've been running a carbed LS for about 7 yrs now. We started with a junkyard 6.0 with cam motions junkyard dog cam. Specifically designed for a sbe 6.0 with rec port heads. This cam with matching valve springs, vic jr intake and 750 HP holley made over 500hp. And with a th400 and 3.55 gears it ran 10.80's @ 125mph. At IRP. In my junkyard third gen Camaro. 3500lb raceweight.
@@theoldmansgarage Like you said. For someone on a tight budget thats just trying to have fun. It gets the job done. I eventually saved up for forged 408ci rotating assembly. With some good 2618 wiseco pistons. Its been together since 2017 with at least 300 passes and a few hundred street miles . My winter upgrades are throwing in some new valve springs and changing the rear main seal. Last fall we played with a 200 shot on an Induction Solutions Saturday night special plate system. After some suspension tweaks it ran a best 9.01 @ 149.98mph 5.74@120mph with a 1.24 60' @ 3500lb raceweight. Built the engine before covid for just under 5k in parts & machine work . Definitely not be the fastest or coolest car. but it does alright for a budget beater lol.
Really enjoyed the dyno session and the real results. Your videos are all very informative and the hands on is perfect 👌 Thank you for always going the extra mile for us !!
Thanks for the amazing video Bill was really excited to see a 40 minute video but I know it's a lot of work and editing but I really appreciate the passion and dedication you have for the cars and the videos and I wish you and the boys have a great sick week and get back safe and can't wait to see the content thanks from another Ohio guy
I didn't even know there was such a thing as silicone break fluid. I guess a guy might have to take some out of the master and test it in a container on the bench by adding some regular break fluid and seeing if it thickens up? Thanks for the videos!
Like I always say... better than anything on television! Thank you brother for sharing your totally awesome cars with us who don't quite have the coin to own.
When i see an old Ford pickup like that black one my mind always goes back to the old farm truck when my mom lived on a farm in western Kentucky. It was a short bed 1975 F250 with a cleveland and the granny gear 4 speed. It had dry rotted 35s to the right rear #4 spark plug was broken off for years but otherwise hit on all 7 just fine. Every fall we went way out back and cut cedar for fence posts. Every year we all said the same thing "dont smash the back window" and every year the truck got a new back window. That truck was a beast, we used to use it to pull the old john deere tractor out of the mud! I was only 15 maybe and could drive that old thing anywhere on the property with ease. Such a unique piece of property, the main farm was only 55 acres but when you passed thru one little gate in the rear tree line it was like opening up another world...there were literally thousands of acres of land locked land owned by heirs of the rich people up in L'ville who didn't even know they owned the land. When i say thousands of acres im talking like one half of Ohio county, one of the poorest counties in all of Kentucky, one could ride the trx honda 4 wheeler for 8 hours a day and not see the same place twice. It was also scarily easy to get lost. If one got lost the plan was to ride due west until finally coming out to the only 2 lane county road in the area. Going north or east would prove futile as you could ride for 2 days and still not find a road. Man those were the days for a young boy from Detroit who spent his summers down there visiting with mom and played on a farm all day long. That old F250 Ford had a farm truck license plate which meant it was streetable but anything over 35 was a teeth chattering bad time!
Great job Bill to you and ALL your team, you're getting us great videos in a timely manner .... Tommy is on the struggle bus it seems, NO videos from SRC in 9 days and you have brought us TWO nice quality videos. This last one was over 40 minutes instead of the the normal 20 minute videos that most other TH-cam channels release. Keep us the good work and tell Tanner to keep his head up, we are glad he is a part of the team.
I absolutely love exactly how you run your channel. The content is exactly what I’m looking for . You talk about the things I’m always wondering about , you explain the details of things I’m always wanting to know about it’s killer my friend! I am a big fan for life bud
Safe travels to Florida. Hope y’all have a great time at Sick Week! That event is turning out to be one of the biggest and only two years old. But having a winter time drag & drive I believe is allowing it to grow because everyone wants to get out! Hopefully one day our Nova will participate.
Hey there! My brother told me about your channel and I had to check it out. I had a '79 Malibu Classic in highschool back in 2000. My first V8 and I loved it. Some lady with no lights on t-boned me one morning and destroyed it. Yours is beautiful.
Bill my favorite videos are those like these. I love in depth tuning. Like you said no trick or secrets just what works and what doesn't. I watch engine power on power nation and I like their shows but Pat doesn't really do in depth tuning. They focus more on the build and specs which I do like but all that won't get you anywhere without proper tuning. Keep up the great work!
446 is pretty damn good for just a cam and intake. Imagine what a set of heads, more tuning, and some nitrous or boost on it. Very cool! Glad to see another video bill!
Hmm a documentary style video I like it. This is not a budget build but channel. Nice to have the money for it. That saves time when you need to get parts. And I think this is a great way to teach new car builders. Keep doing what you are doing.
I love these videos. That Duramax is a great purchase. I’d your getting it for less than 40k your winning. My 09 with the 6.6 has 350k miles. I’m the original owner and trans and motor are original. Only maintenance has been done. I think the trans is coming but I’ve thought that am for the last 100plus k miles.
Whether you buy Bob's truck or not, take the wiring loom that sits against the a/c line and move it so it doesn't rub on the line. it will short the cam sensor wire to the metal line and kill the truck randomly. I've seen it several times in that year of Duramax
The earliest crew is here for support and we hope you have tons of fun in Florida. We need consistency in those times..save the fastest for the last day.
440ci SBC. Wow.. I can't wait Bill, that thing is definitely gona be interesting, with your expertise 😎💪💪 Maybe do a dyno session and tuning on that bad boy.. Heck yeah man, wooo Gets me so happy to see chevrolets being built, saved, tuned, and back frolicking on the streets, just brings me happiness beyond anything.. Keep saving those GMs brother, hats off to ya 🙏
Great job , Bill,Bob and Ryan. You guys did a good job getting that little LS making power, can't wait to see the sick week stuff. Looks like a good time. Those new shirts will sell out fast!!!!
Real Dino videos are the best bill. I've seen numerous guys show the engine on the dyno, then show the grass and no engine running. How the hell can you do that thank you so much. We always love watching
LS engines are the most reliable engine aside from the SBC ever...it's a wonderful, simplified newer V8, very mechanic friendly engine. GM 4 LIFE, what can I say 💪💪😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
I can relate I run my 377 on E85 with a 6/71 and I always have to check my route to make sure there will be fuel and have run into out of order pumps even here in Iowa
Hint, not necessarily silicone fluid. I think someone actually put power steering fluid in the master, ass that stuff destroys the rubber internally on brake systems, the 2 fluids not only do not mix they get nasty together. Though they can look very much the same.
Great video Bill. You guys did a great job getting that little LS to reach its potential. I'm a SBC/BBC guy, but there is no denying the potential of the LS platform. Pretty cool to see you keeping it somewhat old school with the single plane intake and ATM carburetor. Congrats to all involved. I have to say my OMG hoodie has became a favorite of mine and people love my 427 t-shirt. I'll have to get on the pre-order list for the two new t-shirts. Keep cranking out the great videos and we'll keep watching. Best wishes for success during Sick Week. Stay safe and Have fun!
That Devil dog shirt is pretty freaking cool! I missed the 427 giveaway and I'm at least getting one or two of these shirts! Love the family and your different channels. Y'all have a blessed day ❤🙏🏻
Learned and expensive lesson this week with E85 in my 5.3 LS. Would be wise to periodically use pump gas with a detergent. Deposits over the long term can be expensive.
Bill,,you had ignition "issues" and intake "issues". None of that is a "problem" not for you & Bob.. Man I love these episodes. I was pretty excited to see this video up this am. Keep up the good work Cheers from🇨🇦
26:05, seeing Bob hollering and his surprise with adding the 2" spacer just shows even with his vast knowledge and yours to Bill, you both said it "YOU LEARN SOMETHING EVERYDAY & WITH EVERY PULL ON THE ENGINE DYNO... I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW MANY ENGINES BOB HAS HAD ON HIS DYNO, NOT MANY WOULD HAVE HAD A REACTION LIKE THAT... BOB N BILL & THE COMPUTER DIALING GUY !!! GREAT SEEING BOB ENJOYING HIMSELF AND COASTING ALONG WITH SRC & OMG & GEN2 KEEPING HIM BUSY BUT NOT PUSHED REGARDING STRICT TIME LIMITS.... 🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲BOB MC VEY🇮🇪🇮🇪🙏
Killed it as usual Bill ! I learned something with that dyno session about why fuel injected motors require less ignition timing ! I had never thought about the fuel droplet size burning slower with a carb therefore requiring more timing I wonder how long itll be before theres enough aftermarket ECUs out there thatll have direct injection They use 2000 plus psi fuel pressure and are capable of making even more power The future is bright in that respect but me being 53 yrs old do tend to like the old carb stuff also and with carbs out there like ATM its a world better than the old cast main body holley stuff i had to play with as a kid LOL Keep on pumping out the videos Bill and Billy You are changing the world for the better Peace out
That GMC has features you just cant find, dont slib Bill, snatch it up,realy enjoy how youve added Uncle Bobs shop into your program, and he benefits to without the stress of working on customers stuff.Nice colaboration and bob looks like hes enjoying it verses stress of to many projects.
Great video Bobs truck looks amazing i hope you buy it that LS sounds awesome great little motor t shirt designs look killer iwe will be in Florida at Orlando on Sunday gope to see you guys there and at the end of the video sounds like you guys bought another car cant wait to see itstay safe in Florida
if you add a 2 inch square open spacer on top of the 2 inch torque spacer i can guarantee 500 hp , i ran on small block chevys in my hay days, its like running a single tunnel ram, its works (4 inch total)
I really hope you read this Bill and really would love to see you try it or get some and study it maybe with Bob in the machine shop. Please research Energy Release engine additive or ER. My old man used this product in all of his race engines. To this day we still use it in everything we have. We put it in the engine, transmission, front end and rear end. If your asking do I believe if it works this is the only thing I can say. My Dad flipped his old 97 Cummins 5 spd truck yrs ago in a snow storm in Idaho. Due to the fresh soft snow pretty much all that was hurt was the cab. But it sat upside down overnight. Long story short the transmission was obviously almost completely empty. Body shop didn't remember to refill it but had checked it off the list. Go figure. The truck drove 172 miles before the transmission locked up. My old man believes the only way in sam hell it made it that far was due to the Energy Release in the transmission. Also note that you only add 1 ounce to every quart of fluid as it's a metal conditioner. No one in family is in business or is a dealer of this product and we don't know anyone that owns it. We buy it at 120 a gallon just like anyone else. I personally don't think it's snake oil but hey who knows. I would be willing to bet you and Bob could figure out if it is or not.
Good vlog....surprised a parachute is being put on the '55 and its still using old school drum brakes in the rear?! Yep, single plane manifold is great for higher rpm applications, Dual plane is better for torque and lower rpm street applications 😉. Devil-dog shirts look great!
This video came out at the perfect time. I’ve been having some fuel distribution issues as well and I think it’s my dual plane. This just helps to confirm my suspicions!
Let us not overlook uncle Bob wearing a Jimmy Dale shirt!! I only see one critical mistake made....Uncle Bob wasn't wearing the CHAIN!!! "If it's good enough for Jimmy Dale, Its good enough for you"
My 03 5.3 with an Frankenstein intake and 53 pound injectors with a Texas speed cam made 484 horse and 402 torque. You can say a carb is better than fuel injection but those that really TRY with fuel injection know the truth

Single plane on everryyyyyyyythingggggggg lol

ice work splittin hairs on dyno, really nice seeing that thing work. awesome video…
Its 11:54pm and I got school tm.
Sleep can wait, the Old Man just posted.
Sweet job on the junk LS. I just like how your videos are put together. Very good job sir. Thanks for the update. Been waiting for it.
Thanks Bill- will see when your on my dirt at Bradenton Buddy.....
Find Vic, He will take care of the crew....
Brake jobs sucks and the junk yard engine sounds Sweet and keep it up and good luck and be safe and God bless you guys
440ci SBC. Wow.. I can't wait Bill, that thing is definitely gona be interesting, with your expertise 😎💪💪
Maybe do a dyno session and tuning on that bad boy..
Heck yeah man, wooo
Gets me so happy to see chevrolets being built, saved, tuned, and back frolicking on the streets, just brings me happiness beyond anything..
Keep saving those GMs brother, hats off to ya
🙏
Dude the truck was detailed. I mean if you know what you’re doing, then it’s gonna look like that! Man it must be really nice to be you all!!!
That ole GMC looks better than new, mileage is great,I’m sure you will not be disappointed in that purchase.
I have to say that I just stumbled across the channel a few days ago and I thoroughly enjoy it and was binge watching.
Welcome! And I’m glad you enjoy it
Thank you and I’m glad you have merch for husky guys. But any blue oval cars or all bow tie?
Great job , Bill,Bob and Ryan. You guys did a good job getting that little LS making power, can't wait to see the sick week stuff. Looks like a good time. Those new shirts will sell out fast!!!!
Real Dino videos are the best bill. I've seen numerous guys show the engine on the dyno, then show the grass and no engine running. How the hell can you do that thank you so much. We always love watching
LS engines are the most reliable engine aside from the
SBC ever...it's a wonderful, simplified newer V8, very mechanic friendly engine.
GM 4 LIFE, what can I say
💪💪😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
I can relate I run my 377 on E85 with a 6/71 and I always have to check my route to make sure there will be fuel and have run into out of order pumps even here in Iowa
If you want a back yard "type" of cleetus this is the channel... Everything about this channel is true blood sweat a tears of the race life....
Y'all have a blessed day ❤🙏🏻
You guys need to do this more!!!! This dyno and tech stuff is so interesting!! Ps that Duramax looks beautiful... it's a keeper if Bob will sell it.
Learned and expensive lesson this week with E85 in my 5.3 LS. Would be wise to periodically use pump gas with a detergent. Deposits over the long term can be expensive.
Looks like a good excuse to give Strange a call 📞 As soon as I saw drums on the rear, I was thinking that they probably wouldn’t be there for long. 👍🏻
Bill,,you had ignition "issues" and intake "issues". None of that is a "problem" not for you & Bob.. Man I love these episodes. I was pretty excited to see this video up this am.
Keep up the good work
Cheers from🇨🇦
26:05, seeing Bob hollering and his surprise with adding the 2" spacer just shows even with his vast knowledge and yours to Bill, you both said it "YOU LEARN SOMETHING EVERYDAY & WITH EVERY PULL ON THE ENGINE DYNO...
That motor is what I need for my sons c10 going to start teaching to bracket race this spring.
Nice to see people putting timing in these motors. There are tons of youtube guys saying they don't make power over 24° lol
Bill.. can we talk about the Herbie Bug sitting in the background?? That's Purdy! That bug got a real Purdy mouth.. 😂😂 lmao
that, herby powered by an air cooled pancake would be just fine. just like my type 3 was.
@17:38 🙏 Would you give us a 'Walk Around ' video of this shop's cars?! *I see Herbie the Magic Bug back there!*
Flex fuel sensor and efi eliminates all those pump gas / e85 issues... just sayin' 😂
Yeah if you don’t mind being down on power 🤣
Just jabbing you in the ribs 😂... Love you guys and Love your content!
The stripes and the snorkel scoop look great together . So different in todays times.. Its definitely a sceamer too!! Congrats on the 9s its sceamer
That’s definitely impressive what you guys did with LS 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Killed it as usual Bill ! I learned something with that dyno session about why fuel injected motors require less ignition timing ! I had never thought about the fuel droplet size burning slower with a carb therefore requiring more timing I wonder how long itll be before theres enough aftermarket ECUs out there thatll have direct injection They use 2000 plus psi fuel pressure and are capable of making even more power The future is bright in that respect but me being 53 yrs old do tend to like the old carb stuff also and with carbs out there like ATM its a world better than the old cast main body holley stuff i had to play with as a kid LOL Keep on pumping out the videos Bill and Billy You are changing the world for the better Peace out
That was a Hell of a Dyno session gentleman!!
“Damn you scuba Steve!” lol man at least now the 55 is gonna have good brakes.
That GMC has features you just cant find, dont slib Bill, snatch it up,realy enjoy how youve added Uncle Bobs shop into your program, and he benefits to without the stress of working on customers stuff.Nice colaboration and bob looks like hes enjoying it verses stress of to many projects.
Is uncle Bob going on sick week with you Bill. And yes that truck looks brand new.
20:38😆...with that grin ya know it only gets better with racing with family and friends. What an awesome upload. 💯👌...
bill never change your approach to how you do things, you and the fam are doing good by people and businesses who support you,
Great content guys 👏 thanks for sharing. Man oh man I love looks of Bob's truck. Sure hope you get it.
Awesome video at the machine shop with the LS engine. It was like watching Engine Masters.
👊🏻😎
@theoIdmansgarage Wrong scammer!! Everyone that watches this channel knows the scammers.
Good luck during Sick week. I like u're style and cars. And that red truck is beautiful! That little LS was screaming. Good video.
Can’t wait to see how y’all like Sick Week. Glad you bought that truck too. That thing is NICE!! Thanks for the content Bill.
Uncle Terry has got to be the salesman of the century. As much stuff as you guys buy from him. Give unc a raise.
Let us not overlook uncle Bob wearing a Jimmy Dale shirt!!
I only see one critical mistake made....Uncle Bob wasn't wearing the CHAIN!!!
"If it's good enough for Jimmy Dale, Its good enough for you"
Do you ever sleep Bill? Great content as always!!!!
My 03 5.3 with an Frankenstein intake and 53 pound injectors with a Texas speed cam made 484 horse and 402 torque. You can say a carb is better than fuel injection but those that really TRY with fuel injection know the truth
