Glad to see someone speaks out about NES nostalgic gamers defending the game by showing an argument with proper analysis. I too suffer the same issue when trying Ghost and Goblins on NES. The main issue is how the transition moves choppy into a grid and the fact the controls felt delayed versus the arcade I’ve grown up playing on PS2, even still playing it now on Capcom Arcade Stadium on Switch. I never gotten used to it and only made it far to level 2 since I couldn’t handle it. At least the Super Nintendo entry did it way better with fluent motion, transition, and responsive controls. So, overall, in my book, the only issues with the NES are the motion and control responses while everything else is perfect. BTW, on a side note, love that Acid Bath shirt. They’re so heavily obscured and I’ve been enjoying their bangers after discovering them from the “Mr. Incredible Becomes Uncanny Metal” vids. Here I am enjoying them with 2 of their albums in my music library.👌Anyway, impressive video, man. 👍
There used to be this weird glitch on the arcade version. The wizards would turn you invincible or something and the character would look glitched.never seen anyone do it on the internet.
Agreed, the controls are really laggy on Ghosts 'n Goblins for NES. As a preteen I was never able to get past the tower with all the BigMen in it until I got a turbo controller, and even then I didn't make it much further than that. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the SNES was always my fave. The double jump and the sound track made it fantastic! Funny thing, just last year a Ghosts 'n Goblins remake was released for the Commodore 64. It's pretty good. That computer just WILL NOT DIE! Even now it still gets a dozen or so professional releases for it every year. Awesome video, man. I've never played the original arcade version of GNG. I'll have to give it a go
Thanks! You better believe I used turbo on the NES version. But yeah, I swear on the NES you press B sometimes and nothing happens. I like Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts a lot too, though Ghouls 'n Ghosts is my favorite in the series. That's funny that you mention a remake for the Commodore 64. Someone made Ghosts 'n Goblins for the ColecoVision! And I'm playing the arcade version on the Capcom Arcade Cabinet which can be downloaded on PS3/Xbox 360. It has a bunch of Capcom arcade classics with trophies/achievements, leaderboards, unlockable artwork, etc. It's really cool, and I don't think it's very expensive.
Holy crap that was a really good comparison video! About pissed myself a few times laughing so hard too. I don't think I've ever played the arcade version before. Game is tough as shit though.
Thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it, I know my sense of humor isn't for everyone. And this game is just plain BRUTAL! I beat the arcade version for the first time EVER for this video. My heart was pounding so hard when I did it, that I felt numb. Been a while since a video game made me feel that way.
In my childhood times playing Ghost & Goblins on the Nes,I used to throw my controller in rage because of all those unfair cheap deaths, you are absolutely right the Nes port definitely has stiff controls and response time,I think many who has played the Nes Ghost & Goblin admits it was a lackluster port, for me when I was young I played the arcade port a lot more than the Nes port which I never owned at the time I more like had it as a weekend rental at a video store.Lastly overall the arcade port is by far the best port hands down. For future request, could you do this side scrolling beat em up game called Bad Dudes,Arcade vs Nes.
I almost threw my controller in rage capturing footage of the NES version! And I've actually thought of doing Bad Dudes Arcade vs. NES. I'll probably get around to it.
CooL! Speaking of which, there's this Ghost 'n Goblins game called Maximo: Ghosts to Glory which I've heard is a great transition from 2D to 3D for the Ghost 'n Goblins franchise. That's quite impressive, since it seems uncommon for franchises that started out in 2D to properly transition to 3D. Not sure if you've played that one though.
electricmastro Maximo: Army of Zin is actually a big improvement over Ghosts to Glory. While they did retain a lot of what makes the Ghosts 'n Goblins series so unique, the Maximo games never really felt like GnG to me, especially with the cartoony aesthetic. They're still decent games, though.
Yeah, and come to think of it, Arthur could have easily been included as opposed to Maximo, but I suppose that they wanted to start off as fresh as possible, while still being worthy of being apart of the franchise. You might as well talk about them in videos in order to further elaborate what you mean like you did with Contra on PS2, maybe as Halloween videos or something. Haha.
I think I'm gonna need a new PS2 before I make any Maximo videos, it's not playing a lot of games anymore. I'm pretty sure that the first one is available on the PS3 for download, but I'm not sure about Army of Zin.
Strangely, Army of Zin is only available on the European PSN store, so it's either getting a physical copy or somehow getting access to the store through a European PS3.
Great video, Wes. I want to love this game, but it's just too difficult. That first theme song will forever be in my head. It'll also be the only theme I know as I can't get past it, lol. Your jokes are getting better and... dirtier to say the least. Keep them coming! The best thing about this game is that it helped spawn the Gargoyle's Quest series. Way better games than the Ghosts and Goblins series. I played Maximo on PS2. Had the same exact frustrating experience as I did with this game. What a let down, it looks cool, but I can't play for shit.
Thanks, man! Glad you're diggin' the jokes. I know my humor isn't for everybody. And yeah my jokes are getting dirtier--did you see my Splatterhouse video? I lost four subs on that one, ha ha! I disagree with you in regards to the Gargoyle's Quest series. Ghosts 'n Goblins all day, baby--well, except for maybe Demon's Crest. And Maximo is good too, but really tough. I can understand why you wouldn't like that game.
You're saying four people subbed to you, watched the Splatterhouse video, and then unsubbed? What were they expecting?! Maybe if it was some happy, family friendly channel, but it's not like your videos stray that much from the expected raunchy bits. Yes, your Splatterhouse video was killer. I'm glad you aren't caring about losing subscribers who mistakenly subscribed to you. I don't think most of my subscribers watch my videos anyway. It's a meaningless number. :P
awesome video! been into this series since I was 10 but still have never beaten it! Also saw your video on Demon Crest which blew my mind cause I had never even heard of it! LIGHTS CAMERA REVOLUTION!
Another one of my favorite Arcade games and one of my first “scary” nes games as a little boy. Edit: Also one of your funniest intros yet!! Still laughing
Thanks, man! Yeah, I wonder how many people got offended by Arthur's painfully swollen testicles. I decided to release the video a day early cuz I'm working on Michael B's next Top 3 Tuesday for imports, and I don't like to release videos too close together.
Great video sir, but at the end of the day, the moral that should be taken from this whole thing is this: I'm terrible at this game so both versions are eh to me. But arcade would be my go-to as I couldn't stand the NES version.
Thanks, man! If you played the arcade version more and got some practice, you may actually enjoy it quite a bit. Or maybe not. Either way, both versions are stupid hard!
Loved the video, good work 👍 It makes me wonder are there any NES games better than there arcade counterparts? One suggestion might be Turtles 2 with its additional stages but that's just an opinion and would need further comparison
Thanks, man! Brasel TheGamer actually compared Turtles 2 with the arcade. You can check that out here: th-cam.com/video/nq-15B5-c-U/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BraselTheGamer You could argue that Contra on the NES is better than the arcade version. You could even say Commando on NES is better than the arcade with the addition of secret rooms and secrets. Same with Trojan, though I'd say the graphics and sound on all of those examples are much better on the arcade.
Sweet! Yeah, the arcade version of Contra as a whole is a lot shorter, which I think makes the NES version better. But the guy who inspired this video here, compared the GNG NES & arcade versions to that of Contra arcade and NES. Um, no.
I would take a wild guess and say the guy who said the arcade and nes versions are different game was confused somehow. Maybe he had played ghouls and ghosts arcade version and compared that to ghost and goblins nes version or something like that. I would love to see you do a vs of UN Squadron snes vs arcade. They seem very similar at first but there are some interesting differences. Both versions are awesome!
You'd think that, as it is an annoyingly common error, but no, this guy knew which games he was talking about. Boy, I'm not very familiar with the arcade version of U.N. Squadron. It's been a while. Is it available for home consoles at all? I remember the arcade version looked a lot better than the SNES one did.
The good thing about the arcade version from video making perspective is that you dont need to have played it recently to play through it. You can just pretty much infinitely spam credits to play it right through on one go (you continue right where you died). That makes it less challenging of course for the hard core and they have to self-impose limits but it is very good for casual play, can see all levels easily. Snes version is more challenging and you might hit your head against a wall for a few tries unless you know what you´re doing. But it´s well worth it. UN Squadron is featured in quite a few top 10 lists... not only of best snes shooters but of best snes games overall. The SNES version was made in-house if I recall correctly. It is very good, in some ways better than the arcade game though of course some of the graphics were scaled down (still impressive for the platform though!) and there are some differences in some levels, theres at least one level missing completely but then there are some levels added too. Upgrading and use of money is completely different and there´s the map thing... Music is very good for both versions, one of my favorite shmup soundtracks. I´m not aware of any other console version than snes version but then there are various home computer ports like c64, amiga, atari st, spectrum and so on. All of the home computer ports that I have seen seemed to be hastly done ports by third parties and not very good at all.
I love the SNES version, but I don't emulate on my computer, so I need a way to be able to play the arcade version to capture the footage. I wonder if I can put MAME on my hacked Wii?
I dont have a hacked wii so I have no idea if this works but I googled mame for wii and came up with this: code.google.com/archive/p/sdl-mame-wii/downloads So I guess it might be possible
I've played both, imho the controls on the NES version aren't that bad. For an outside company doing the port, and this being an early title, i think they did a very good job.
An Arcade 1-Up of the first three G'n G games would be a cool choice. It would also be a bit funky since Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts wasn't actually an arcade game, but it wouldn't be the first time Capcom bundled them together.
Genesis version is best to me, great video man.. I've been waiting for something good to be uploaded by someone. Content from others has been....lacking to say the least.
My issue with Ultimate is that I really don't like playing handhelds anymore. And when using the component cable on my TV, it only fills like a third of the screen. Wish there was a downloadable version to play on a home console. Like the Wii U did with GBA games.
Hello I've been playing a version at my local toy store. On lvl 3 in the beginning as I get close to the white monsters that block your path and shoot it summons a red demon and then again at the base of the blue stairs. I can't get the check point and I've gotten to where the burritos and the purple devils come out just before the next block monster. I can't find a walk-through for this level version anywhere and I really need help. Any ideas?
Thanks, man! It's available on the Capcom Arcade Cabinet series that you can download on PS3/Xbox360. That's what I'm playing in this video. I had played the arcade version a lot as a kid, but not enough to get really good at it. But when I got the Capcom Arcade Classics Collection for PS2 eleven years ago, I became hooked on the arcade version of Ghosts 'n Goblins, and it quickly became one of my all-time favorite arcade games.
I bought the arcade version on Wii Virtual Console, and tried to beat it. Boy, did I try. But after 5 hours, 4 on the last stage, I had to give up. Can you tell me your experience of the last stage(stage 6)? For me(normal difficulty) there were two big men on each floor, which coupled with the projectiles they spew plus my limited capability of shooting shields, was just impossible to beat. One per floor could have worked, but not two. Just not possible.
OH MY GOD. THAT FREAKIN' STAGE! It's so brutal. Definitely one of my most hated stages in all of gaming. I had even more trouble on the NES version! The best advice that I can give for those Big Men is to try and keep the screen where only one will move at a time. You can actually walk away from some of them to where you won't even trigger any movement from them. Even then, it is so damn hard, and you'll most likely reach Satan in your underwear. By the time I had to do it again for the second quest, I breezed right through it from having so much practice.
Never played the original arcade version but I've beaten the Megadrive game, NES. I rage quit on the snes i got really sick (no joke) at the slow down. XD
Good vid dude. I both love and hate this game. The nes game has given me more trouble than any other game to beat. I usually play through a game at least twice once i can beat it (anyone else do that?) but not with this one. I was traumatized after spending a month of weekends to beat it... I'm not familiar with the arcade version. I have it on my retropie. Maybe i give it a chance now that I've seen this.
Nefarious Wes. I tried out the arcade version last weekend. I played it on the ps1 (the sound was distorted) on the wii virtual console (the game clock speed was stupid fast) and played it on my raspberrypii (it played just fine). The pirated version played supior to the official releases. Kinda odd
Westapo first time watching your vids. loved the comparison video. I got to play the arcade once when I was a kid at a chuckee chesse's lol. nes was choppy as shit. I about died laughing when you did the 1up joke, lol great stuff keep up the good work.
Thanks! I'm glad people are digging my tasteless jokes, ha ha! I used to play the arcade here and there as a kid, but I already had the NES version at home. When the arcade version was released on the Capcom Arcade Classics Collection on PS2, I fell in love with it!
Westapo lol that's cool. I have that same collection. I bought it mainly for final fight, gun.smoke, and ghouls and ghosts. I think I played ghosts n' goblins maybe once or twice lol
The arcade version is better and has alot better controls. The arcade versions of Ghosts n Goblins and Ghouls n Ghosts are superior to the home ports, in my opinion. The NES, SNES, and Genesis versions are still very good games though, I'm not taking away from that. They are all alot of fun to play, even though they are all extremely difficult.
Is ir really that easy to beat the Red Devils on the arcade version? I remember they being so hard and relentlesly dodgy that I gave up the arcade version entirely. At least in the NES version I could manage to kite them and kill them. I actually beat the game today, first time ever!
#NefariousWes "When are you going to do a comparison of #GhoulsNGhosts Arcade VS. #SNES on your next #TH-cam videos???" #TakeItUnderAdvisement #MiddlebrooksFanatics 🤨💖💭🕹️🎮📺🎬🎞️🎥📽️📱🔮 #Capcom #Nintendo
I like this video too and you raise excellent point. I have zero idea why people thumbed down it so much. Fuck them. Good job man. Those people need help
Another great video! I've commented before about how I hate the music in this game. But the arcade music is at least tolerable. Also, I'm extremely terrible at this game.
My Cabbages! Thanks! I'm sure a lot of people are terrible at Ghosts 'n Goblins. It's notoriously brutal! And what is it about the music that you don't like? I dig it.
Westapo The music just grinds on my ears. High pitched and blah melody. I much prefer something from Neil Baldwin, Jeroen Tel, Iku Mizutani, Naoki Kodaka, or the Follin Bros.
Westapo I listen to tons of nes music. Ghosts and Goblins isn't even in music my library. It's an iconic game and the soundtrack is instantly recognizable. I just don't like it.
Never had a chance to play the arcade version of the game, and as much as I love the NES, the laggy controls get to the point of being straight painful. That, and the cheap phantoms spawning where Arthur is are the game's only flaws. That is my opinion at least, made a video walkthrough/playthrough for the game a while back and those two things I hated the most every time I played the game, can even say they make the game unfair.
for me and you, yep. Should be for anyone who has played the two. So, do you prefer the Sega version of the sequel, or the SNES? I've only played the SNES version, but the Genesis game looks amazing and the level design looks more fun than the SNES, but I could be wrong.
Ghouls 'n Ghosts is my favorite in the series, but Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is really good, too. But it is BRUTAL! Ghouls on Genesis is a bit more forgiving, but the arcade version? Forget about it! Very tough!
Gotta love all that Engrish! Geez that translation sucked. Thanks for another great video. Have you played the WonderSwan version of Ghosts 'n Goblins? It's surprisingly good!
@@NefariousWes WonderSwan was a handheld only released it Japan. It was created by the same guy who made the Game Boy. It did a short video of Ghost 'n Goblins after TBelly mentioned playing it. th-cam.com/video/IfrERg8ENvw/w-d-xo.html
The GBC version is better, due to the fact that it uses the game code of the arcade (seriously, take a look at how the Red Arremer in the first level on GBA behaves compared to the NES and arcade). Also, while it doesn't make the player do the second loop at all, I still say that the Commodore Amiga port by Elite (who also did a fantastic port of Commando and SNK's "Ikari Warriors") is superior to the NES.
Another wonderfully executed video. Ghosts and Goblins is another classic that I've played throughout my life and can say with the utmost confidence that, I will never have the mental strongth to complete this. However, that being said, I have only played this on the Sega (Megadrive) Genesis and Commodore 64. There are quite a few differences between what you showed and the Sega version, maybe that's what the online argument was all about at the beginning of your video. Also, I think the Commodore 64 version was called Ghouls and Ghosts and was an infinite amount of times more difficult as the controls are still that stiff way and... (here's the kicker) You only get 3 lives and it's game over. No continues. The game is already unfair as it is but... Come on. Anyway, Congraturation on this video.
Dude, you had me rolling with "strongth" casually thrown in there, ha ha! And I take congraturations very seriously. The Genesis/Mega Drive game is actually Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which is the sequel that was released on arcades back in 1988. That's my favorite in the series. And trust me, the person who left the comment was talking about Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES. Everyone keeps giving him the benefit of the doubt, but if you've read other comments he's left on some of my other videos.... And I know that Ghosts 'n Goblins is on the Commodore 64, so I guess Ghouls 'n Ghosts is, too. No continues on any of the games in the series is just plain sadistic!
Have you ever done the glitch in this game were you turn into a frog at 0 seconds and the timer no longer matters? I only ever saw someone do this one time in the arcade. It's not helpful, just removes the time for that level. I guess it could be useful if you were trying to get a high score.
I never cared for Ghost n' Goblins on the NES. In my mind, it was clearly a "good' game, and it's pretty good looking for a 1986 NES game, but I never enjoyed it. There was another game it would have to compare to, Castlevania. Ghosts and Ghouls was around earlier, but both are still from the Nintendo Player's Guide Era. Both games were arcade platformers with horror themes and religious imagery set in a past/fantasy environment. Both have similar weapon pickup systems. And both have similar unforgiving jumping mechanics. But Castlevania still controlled better and was a far more polished game. I wonder if it had a better developer at the helm if it would have been more than an obligatory classic. The source material is good.
This video is nine months old and no one ever said anything until maybe a month ago. Seems to me it's just a subliminal form of the blind leading the blind.
I played the arcade 30 years ago so i cant remember how good it plays but i agree the nes version is really bad. Is so frustating & probably the most difficult game i've played, i still haven't beaten it, but the music great.
How dare YOU...oh, wait you are speaking the truth. The controls on the Nes are know where near as precise as the arcade. Furthermore, the Nes version is the same as the arcade.
what kind of idiot tries to defend an nes vs. arcade version of a game? arcade always had superior graphics and sound. exceptions: nes version has added content like more levels or refined gameplay with more/new mechanics. gng clearly doesn't meet these criteria
If you still not convinced. Well we all can agree that the mobile version sucks. Like the controls sucks!! Cause I used touch screen and you know when you are nervous most likely your hand would feel moist cause of your sweat so most likely or not. When you press the right button, Arthur will move the right forever (and jumping is the same) Edit: oh and I forgot sometimes even if your hand isn't moisty the Arthur something do the exact same thing if your hand is moisty
the arcade version is legendary, of course
What's really happening in the opening cutscene to "Ghosts 'N Goblins" is supposed to be Princess Prin Prin tending to Sir Arthur's injured leg, which I learned about from reading the game's story.

Played it religiously. This really takes me back.
The music was different if I remember correctly
Honestly, I think they're both great.
Well put together, man.. still scratching my head how someone can say the versions aren't that similar.
Thanks! The guy just likes to argue. He left idiotic comments on other videos as well.
Damn how did I miss this video?! Frikin' sweet editing skills man. Love GNG in all its gory forms. Wonderful video!

Why couldn't they just stick with "Red Devil"?
That sounds much better.

You can check that out here: th-cam.com/video/nq-15B5-c-U/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BraselTheGamer
You could argue that Contra on the NES is better than the arcade version. You could even say Commando on NES is better than the arcade with the addition of secret rooms and secrets. Same with Trojan, though I'd say the graphics and sound on all of those examples are much better on the arcade.
Westapo that guy just earned himself another subscriber :-) I'm not overly familiar with the arcade Contra but it seems the levels look shorter
Sweet! Yeah, the arcade version of Contra as a whole is a lot shorter, which I think makes the NES version better. But the guy who inspired this video here, compared the GNG NES & arcade versions to that of Contra arcade and NES. Um, no.
Ha! I just stuck with Super Ghouls and Ghosts on the SNES, that's hard enough!
That's probably my favorite of the series.
The second one is easy
I dont have a hacked wii so I have no idea if this works but I googled mame for wii and came up with this: code.google.com/archive/p/sdl-mame-wii/downloads
So I guess it might be possible
Right on. I'll hafta check this out. Thanks.
I've played both, imho the controls on the NES version aren't that bad. For an outside company doing the port, and this being an early title, i think they did a very good job.
Other than the controls, Micronics surprisingly did this port some justice.
I want this game for arcade 1 up
Magic Kids TV me too. hope they release it this month.
On the Final Fight cabinet 😁
An Arcade 1-Up of the first three G'n G games would be a cool choice. It would also be a bit funky since Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts wasn't actually an arcade game, but it wouldn't be the first time Capcom bundled them together.
I've -never- laughed so hard at a random NES video I've found on youtube!!
Genesis version is best to me, great video man.. I've been waiting for something good to be uploaded by someone. Content from others has been....lacking to say the least.
RewindMike Thanks, man! Ghouls 'n Ghosts is probably my favorite in the series.
I'd say it's just a little higher next to Ultimate Ghost n' Goblins! That game was such a shocker and done really well.
My issue with Ultimate is that I really don't like playing handhelds anymore. And when using the component cable on my TV, it only fills like a third of the screen. Wish there was a downloadable version to play on a home console. Like the Wii U did with GBA games.
glad you took that personal, I just meant there was a lack of content, buddy ;)
Dammit! Am I gonna hafta separate you two?
Hello I've been playing a version at my local toy store. On lvl 3 in the beginning as I get close to the white monsters that block your path and shoot it summons a red demon and then again at the base of the blue stairs. I can't get the check point and I've gotten to where the burritos and the purple devils come out just before the next block monster. I can't find a walk-through for this level version anywhere and I really need help. Any ideas?
Wow. I've never seen beyond stage 2 of this game.
That doesn't surprise me. Ghosts 'n Goblins is one of the hardest games that I've ever played.
most arcade versions are always superior to the port. new subscriber love the knowledge!
Bernardo Dominguez Thanks!
Wes fun question.
Who's win in a fight?
Simon Belmont vs Sir Arthur?
Who do you think is the winner?
The Arcade version on Capcom are way better than the console versions.
It sounds like the arcade has FM sound and the NES was using good old PWG.
Here's why I think that the Arcade game beats the NES game tenfold.
Reason 1: The NES version was developed by Micronics.
...Need I say more?
Nope.
What about the GBC game? I think it's MUCH MORE PLAYABLE than the NES version. And it fixes all the translation errors!
The one thing i found annoying in the nes version was the timer, specially during level 2.
In the super-secret level, Arthur fights Mr. Satan! I AM SATAN!!! ;-p
damn goos vid mate. i want to tey out the arcade one now.
I have a strong feeling that you(as I am) a Deicide fan
When Satan rules his world
Dude, I saw your icon and thought maybe he thought it's a cool design. Then you played Satan spawn the caco demon. You just earned a sub my dude!
I think you're the first person to acknowledge that song in this video, 'Bout fuckin' time! \m/
XD
The version of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on the Capcom Arcade Classics Collection eliminated the slowdown. Too much slowdown is REALLY annoying!
If you think that was difficult, try Ultimate Ghost N' Goblins on the PSP.
Thanks. The NES is ridiculously brutal. The arcade version will give you a much better experience overall.
Nefarious Wes. I tried out the arcade version last weekend. I played it on the ps1 (the sound was distorted) on the wii virtual console (the game clock speed was stupid fast) and played it on my raspberrypii (it played just fine). The pirated version played supior to the official releases. Kinda odd
G&G Commodore64 music FTW!
I'll hafta check it out.
Yes, good choice of music. The sequel's soundtrack Ghouls N Ghosts on C64 is also excellent.
Arcade rules!
NES version has choppy scroll also.
Kash 0 Yeah, it's pretty bad.
Is ir really that easy to beat the Red Devils on the arcade version? I remember they being so hard and relentlesly dodgy that I gave up the arcade version entirely. At least in the NES version I could manage to kite them and kill them. I actually beat the game today, first time ever!
Yup. Just get up close and let him have it!
HAVE YOU TRIED PLAYING IT WITH THE NES ADVANTAGE JOYSTICK CONTROLLER DOES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE PLEASE?
#NefariousWes "When are you going to do a comparison of #GhoulsNGhosts Arcade VS. #SNES on your next #TH-cam videos???" #TakeItUnderAdvisement #MiddlebrooksFanatics 🤨💖💭🕹️🎮📺🎬🎞️🎥📽️📱🔮 #Capcom #Nintendo
Never. Those are two different games.
I like this video too and you raise excellent point. I have zero idea why people thumbed down it so much. Fuck them. Good job man. Those people need help
Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a walk in the park compared to Ghosts 'n Goblins lmao.
Absolutely.
I dig it.
Westapo Dude it's way too late for any of us to be up talking Ghosts and Goblins. And yet here we are. I gotta get up for work in 6 hours.
Westapo Speaking of nes music, how's the Title Screen vid coming? I can't wait for that one!
Games that are very different from the original version in my opinion are double dragon 2 and 3 from NES, as well as ninja gaiden!
Ghosts 'n Goblins was Capcom's best selling NES game.
Really? I thought that honor went to either "Mega Man 2" or "DuckTales".
Prove it.
I find arcade to home comparisons silly because arcade machines have much greater power than a console
Well, it's not a comparison to see which is better, only to see the differences and similarities, which has always intrigued me since I was a kid.
Definitely. The arcade version is so much better in all aspects.
It's a no-brainer, right?
for me and you, yep.
Very tough!
I could definitely see people liking Super Ghouls more, though.
Gotta love all that Engrish! Geez that translation sucked. Thanks for another great video. Have you played the WonderSwan version of Ghosts 'n Goblins? It's surprisingly good!
Thanks! This is one of my favorites that I've made. And I don't even know what WonderSwan is.
I'll hafta check out the GBC version. Thanks!
Nefarious Wes Any time! The GBC port has graphics and sound similar to the NES, but is harder due to the handheld's 160x100 resolution.
That creepy head to his right. 😱
Also, at 3:09, what's the song? It sounds like something I look for.
Deicide: Satan Spawn, the Caco-Daemon
Oh, and thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it!
The Arcade games used to always have better graphics then the home consoles. I don't know about now though.
Good stuff man. I love the Acid Bath shirt.
TheLegndarySideffect Thanks! I love how the first comment on this video acknowledges my Acid Bath shirt!
I feel like the commenter was being sophisticated and he just took it completely wrong.
SNES version was fantastic! Blows away arcade in my opinion.
Two completely different games. But yeah, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts kicks ass.
Do you own the arcade version? And have they developed a more faithful version of the game?
The NES was such a primitive machine
Its almost like they were made with different hardware or something?
lol! GReat video man
Thanks, dude! For some reason your comment went straight to my spam folder. TH-cam is getting really annoying about comments lately.
Have you ever done the glitch in this game were you turn into a frog at 0 seconds and the timer no longer matters? I only ever saw someone do this one time in the arcade. It's not helpful, just removes the time for that level. I guess it could be useful if you were trying to get a high score.
Never seen it.
Honestly i thought the nes port controllers were responsive.
I thought so too at first, but then I played the arcade version a lot.
Acid Bath; GREAT sluge metal!
Beat nes gng, I liked it, only gripe I have are some glitches on level 6. Controls are decent
i have to say the arcade one is slightly better than nes one i mean my god the nes one is godamn unfair
I'd say that it's much better than the NES one.
@@NefariousWes i agree wes
Hello. Which version is harder to finish?
You should really annunciate your C's and K's. Good video, but that caught me off guard.
This video is nine months old and no one ever said anything until maybe a month ago. Seems to me it's just a subliminal form of the blind leading the blind.
Not sure what being blind has to do with hearing. I do like your acid bath shirt tho. \m/
Ghosts and Demons or Cursed Castilla. One of these is the best retro game made yet! No need to play the old game now
The GBC remake gave the themes a little more... Commodore 64.
I played the arcade 30 years ago so i cant remember how good it plays but i agree the nes version is really bad. Is so frustating & probably the most difficult game i've played, i still haven't beaten it, but the music great.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's bad -- cuz I do like the NES version -- but compared to the arcade version it has its issues.
Thanks! Yeah, it's very unresponsive.
How dare YOU...oh, wait you are speaking the truth. The controls on the Nes are know where near as precise as the arcade. Furthermore, the Nes version is the same as the arcade.
Truth had to be said. It's crap on NES really.
Yeah, it could've been much better.
awesome shirt of Pogo
How about the GBC port?
Never played it. But I sure want to.
Oh ok :D
Future part 2 covering that?
Maybe a mini-review or something. I need to get a copy first.
Ok then, can't wait :D
Awesome video!! Blue balls!! lmao
what kind of idiot tries to defend an nes vs. arcade version of a game? arcade always had superior graphics and sound. exceptions: nes version has added content like more levels or refined gameplay with more/new mechanics. gng clearly doesn't meet these criteria
atpyatskowit Amen! But this is the internet, where people will argue with you that water isn't wet and the earth isn't round.

FINNA 😤 EMOJI RN
If you still not convinced.
Well we all can agree that the mobile version sucks.
Like the controls sucks!!
Cause I used touch screen and you know when you are nervous most likely your hand would feel moist cause of your sweat so most likely or not.
When you press the right button, Arthur will move the right forever (and jumping is the same)
Edit: oh and I forgot sometimes even if your hand isn't moisty the Arthur something do the exact same thing if your hand is moisty
Arcade
2:17 wow anger fan
Identical
6,666 subs. Fitting
Was the NES port sourced from Arcade version? Or is it port of a port?
Arcade.
I'm gonna say it. I hate Ghosts n Goblins with a burning passion. After beating the game for the true ending, I feel like I'm going to explode.
