Never thought to check to see if there was a live version of this song on youtube and glad I checked. Been listening to this song since that Windham Hill sampler it was on way back when in the 80's. Always loved this song.
Oh man, this is absolutely fantastic! I've been a huge fan of Manring since his beginnings with Hedges, bought his first amazing solo album Unusual Weather as soon as it came out (I even got him to sign it!) and it's absolutely wonderful to hear/see this beautiful Montreaux rendition Welcoming, the first tune off that record. Thanks for posting! :-)
So thankful that you posted this. I love this music I'm 41 and since 1986 I've been hearing Windham Hill music... so, I'm emotioned to see my stars live late back in 1980.
I’ve loved this band forever. I do find it weird that they are playing for people at a vineyard who don’t seem to care. But I suppose the gig paid enough.
at this point I dont... It was part of a Mondavi Winery summer series, but I think it was later in the summer. I worked for Sony Broadcast 83'-87.. but would have loaned gear when I was more senior...so 84-1985 would be my best guess
After all these decades!? I get to watch this!
Thank you, Universe.
✨Michael Manring: melodic bassist + humble LEGEND.
✨Brilliant performance of Welcoming (Michael Manring) + pretty setting, summer 1985.

Manring rules!
and the best part of all is that now I can "try" to play along . It's finally in 440 tuning. Thanks for posting this dancemaster100
I cannot believe my eyes. I love this!
All these fave musicians of mine are so young here... Wish this lineup would get back together for one more record.
Oh my... What a pleasure it must have been to be there that day.
Supurb compositions, performance and chemistry.

Beautiful music on a beautiful day in a beautiful setting. Tough to beat. I wonder if Robert was listening...
Great piece of music 🎶
Amazing music. What FUN! Love the smile on Michael's face at 3:33.
another wow! exquisite. big fan of these guys (and gal) in all their permutations. unfortunately short lived. would luv to see more.
Michael Manring, pre-Hyperbass days, with Montreux. Wow!
Speechless!
I just love this song. Although it doesn't portray Michael's complexity, it does show his sweet side...
Right! Love the early stuff too.
Wow. First time I ever heard this was on Michael Manring's Unusual Weather disc; I didn't know Montreux performed it too!
Wow what a treat
Guau. Bienvenida en clave Montreux... Qué colinaaa... !
Thanks!

Great video! Do you have any more?
i finally found some of this source and have uploaded Dolphins... kinda "hissy" though...
Lucky crowd!
Eddie Van Halen influenced many musicians to tap that fret board 😀😀
No way!
anyone know the exact year of this performance?

@@dancemaster100 Wonderful memories growing up idolizing these musicians. Thanks for posting!
3:20 smiling
Probably Manring's most solid piece played along with a deluxe band such as Montreux are.
