    Dude, I have been a computer programmer all of my adult professional life, 30+ years. My father was a construction worker, and until I was 20, I worked hard manual labor for years. I can remember getting home from baseball practice or a game and working with him til 11:30 pm building our house. I had to go to school the next day but he had to go to a construction job. Let me tell you, programming is hard to do correctly, but relative to other things, it's insanely easy. It really pisses me off when I see people complain about how "hard" they have it.

      I'm not a programmer, but I imagine it's mentally taxing. But yeah, the complaining of people who're millionaires and weren't part of the working class are something else. It seems like a big lack of gratitude to do that.

    Thanks for the videos. I've had those jobs where you work your butt off and get nothing but a sad paycheck. I agree with your view, some people just don't get it.

    Dude, I hope you don't take offense, because I don't watch any ads because I'm so sick of it. I use adblocks and will not change that. But I recommend you to put up a donate button instead, because that's the only way I am gonna support any TH-camr, because I don't care for making YT make money of me. I'd rather stop watching video on YT.
    Also, recently I made a sorting amongst the channels I follow. But I realized that the problem isn't the amount of channels I follow. It's the interface of youtube making it hard to overview them all and their activity. Instead they recommend videos I watched that is 6-11 years old. Also a lot of videos I have no interest in, what so every to watch.

    • @KenHarrisio

      That's perfectly fine with me. I'm not sure why people are still willing to use the internet without an ad blocker. Some ads made it through Brave on YT a couple days ago and it was atrocious.
      The reason I put an ad or two on my videos is I think YT severely restricts the reach without them. I saw a video a while back from a TH-camr with a couple hundred thousand subs. I think she was an art teacher. Someone might know who I'm talking about.
      She showed stats on her videos and said it seemed like the reach was limited because she wasn't using ads. The theory from some people on the platform is that YT won't recommend a video as much if it doesn't run an ad, since they won't make any money.
      I've also noticed that with YT as well. They are constantly changing the recommendation algo. I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

      @@KenHarrisio Thanks, it feels good to have a confirmation, and I hope you don't get in trouble for wording it.
      One of the mitigations that I think works a lot better is when the TH-camr himself rants the ad information, especially when it's a product or service they like and appreciate themselves. But the mentioning of using a VPN is getting very very old. They should realize that almost every channel does it and therefore most who are watching probably just skips the ad. If the ad is the sponsor which the current video is made about, there's a whole other point.

    • @KenHarrisio
      @KenHarrisio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@sykoteddy It should be okay. I'm pretty reserved with the wording I use to keep from drawing the eye of YT.
      I wouldn't be opposed to taking a sponsor, but it'll probably be a long time. There are some brands I wouldn't want to work with, because of how they treat their customers and the lack of care in the products. And yeah, the VPN stuff is ridiculous. The only two VPNs I recommend to people don't do sponsorships. They said it goes against how they want to get customers, which is something I respect.

    To be successful at it you probably have to dedicate every minute and that is probably their issue. In fact all these really big channels have half a dozen or a dozen employees behind it. Working for yourself is also a lot harder than pulling in a paycheck, believe me. You really have to keep yourself going at all times and literally be your own boss, plus also have good business planning. Sounds great to be a CEO like Gates but even the guys 1/1000 as successful probably have to sink their whole life into it to get even moderate success. Also a lot of videos are pretty easy to make especially talking head but making basically a mini documentary every week like some channels is a giant amount of work.

    I immediately stray away from certain vibes in terms of those channels with the type of people you are mentioning. The complainers. I commend those who give up their time to teach and share their experiences in a certain light of life. But if they are making millions of dollars off the eyeballs of normal people, they are basically trash and won't get my eyeballs. They will get paid anyway for the views and subscribers even after they stop uploading for Ad traffic, so it is really stupid to come on here and complain directly to the people who help them get to their millionaire status. As a veteran and family man, I personally do not have the time or the patience to do what TH-camrs do. Respect to you for being real and really just shame on the complainers.

    TH-cam can be hard at the beginning but its very important to be consistent to see results in some capacity. Even if someone were uploading videos once a month as long as they are making really good quality content they are guaranteed to yield new viewership and open up the opportunity to grow even more. I think youtube is one of those things where you get out as much as you put in.

    • @KenHarrisio

    making videos is definitely one of the things of all time. Personally i wouldn't say it's easy or hard, it's mostly time consuming for me. I keep my content simple, it aides in the viewing experience, i feel, and keeps it easier to produce, which is good for me.
    I've found anything that requires substantial amounts of editing, or just has lots of footage behind it, to be particularly time intensive when it comes to editing. Often times with my other content, i find that the time is simply spent somewhere else, so it's not just getting rid of that time. It's moving it somewhere else, which is interesting.
    Take some give some, win some lose some, i suppose. I enjoy making videos, though my content base is not consistent by any margin, that's intentional however. It allows me (or forces me) to do different types of content so that i learn more over all, which is ultimately why we do anything.

    • @KenHarrisio
      @KenHarrisio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Editing is definitely personal taste. Sometimes I come across videos that have really good editing that adds a lot to the video. Adrian Caparzo is one example that I like.
      Sometimes, just basic edits are good too, and usually what I end up preferring. RadBrad is really good. Cory Kenshin has some work in his edits, but they don't seem like anything over the top either.

    • @killingtimeitself
      @killingtimeitself 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah it's definitely up to personal taste, i find even with my more involved and flashy edits that i tend to minimize the "useless" content, keep it flashy, but give it really good pacing so it flows nicely.
      There's definitely a balance between having a lot/little amount of editing. Lots of editing seems to enforce a strict storyline/flow, which isn't a bad thing. But it can also restrict technical detail for example. @@KenHarrisio

    Hi, I gratefully follow you about cyber security. I have a very basic/newbie doubt about PIN vs Password, and I'd like to have your opinion. Recently I switched my Windows account to a local one (for security reason), so now I can access on my Windows system by both my local password OR my old Windows PIN, that's redundant IMO. Q: From a security point of view, is it good keeping only the local password, or is it better maintaining both methods?

    • @KenHarrisio
      @KenHarrisio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Given that you just use a local account, you could just use one or the other. The more important thing to think about would be BitLocker. If you don't have your drive encrypted, someone could easily access the data.

    • @adrianocastaldini
      @adrianocastaldini 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KenHarrisio(MANY thanks for your kind reply.) Here is the problem: I do video stuff, so I need speed. If I encrypt the drives, I slow down half the speed. (More than this, I've read that somewhere that Microsoft could make BitLocker obsolete soon...)

    • @KenHarrisio
      @KenHarrisio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, I see. I only run SSDs these days and haven't noticed speed issues, but I've also never checked the before and after for BitLocker.
      The only thing I'm aware that they are ending is something called MBAM. It's an administration tool for BitLocker. I don't think they'd ever get rid of BL itself, given the popularity with the IT community and power users.@@adrianocastaldini

    Talking tuff... Ive been finding more n more AI created utube videos... 12 channels so far.... Think of ...chat gtp & add video footage in.... Instant video..... And..... Ive noticed these channels have their videos most regularly appearing in the first suggested videos list.... Meaning you MUST SCROLL DOWN FURTHER to get to genuine (non you tube owned AI) channels..
    The rich will keep getting richer.... Until people revlolt( which is still decades away)
