ranger used to be the best in terraria and calamity and then in calamity they nerfed like every good weapon and accessory while buffing a lot of the other classes. summon is the best DPS now and ranger is by far the worse class
@@LuVenBen Is it though? Your main bonuses come from your weapon, your armor and the effects of your accessories anyway. If you reforge everything to Menacing you'd think you're getting 4% more damage on each accessory but it's actually less. If your armor already gives a damage boost of 24% (hallowed armor let's say, counting the additional crit chance as well) and you deal, let's say, 100 damage, you're going to deal 124 damage. If you add 5 Menacing accessories you're not increasing the 124 damage by 20%, you're actually increasing the original 100 damage by 20% which means you're dealing 144 damage instead. Now if you reforge everything to Warding, you're not dealing 144 damage but you're also not dealing 100 damage, you're still dealing 124 damage because of your Hallowed armor. If you compare 124 and 144, it's only a 16.2% increase in damage. Not the 20% you thought you were adding by reforging everything to Menacing. You're basically wasting a reforge because the increase in damage is additive in Terraria and not multiplicative. That's what's called diminishing returns. For simplicity of calculations, I didn't even mention the bonuses to damage from the reforge of your weapon, bonuses from consumables and other bonuses from accessories. By taking them in account it actually becomes way worse for the Menacing reforge. Since the Defense mechanic in Terraria is flat damage reduction, adding more defense will never give you diminishing returns. It has more value in terms of reforges, it will make you able to land more hits in the dynamic of a fight because you're not in constant danger which means your dps actually increases. Dying is also an incredible loss of DPS because the fight is done, you have to gather the resources to fight the boss again and spend time like that. You're not dying easily with full Warding.
@@KhristianBolano you have to mix and match menacing and lucky depending the the enemies defense/weapon damage for the best result. but you are right, surviving the boss fight is priority. and the choice between dealing +28% damage, or taking a couple extra hits is mostly dependent on class/team composition.
@@LuVenBen I'm gonna be honest, crit chance sucks in Terraria as a mechanic. All it does is doubling your damage and as far as I know there's no way to increase the crit damage multiplier. If you deal 10 damage 10 times with 10 crit chance, you're going to deal 110 damage instead of 100. That 10 crit chance is basically a 10% damage boost which suffers from the same problems as above. I'm not saying increasing damage or crit chance is bad, I'm just saying that it's bad as a reforge because there are other way more optimal ways to increase those stats. And the main source of damage come from your Weapon damage stat, its reforge, your armor modifiers/set bonus and accessory effects. Again, it's not actually +28% damage unless you have no other damage boosts anywhere in your equipment. It's only +28% damage if you're completely naked barring the accessories and no accessory gives you a damage boost basically.
@@KhristianBolano at the most basic level a +4% crit chance (4% of double damage) is the same as +4% damage boost (4% of double damage), though enemy defense makes it more complex. and yes, a +28% is still a +28% no matter what else you're wearing. in the end warding is objectively less useful than damage/crit boosts, because getting hit is optional, hitting the boss is not.

@@headphonesaxolotlyeah also as a beginner u can't really take advantage of the damage boost until pretty late into early game due to summon weapon obtainment early game being harder
@@headphonesaxolotli use summoner since i started playing terraria and it does worth it tbh
I ise ranger, in calamity, without chlorophite bullets...
(fear me)
Imagine using chlorophyte bullets use ichor or explosive bullets get ur aim right
Yo-yo/spear classes didn’t even bother to show up.
there is no classes like that lol
As a summoner main, I enjoy being able to use the portal gun from a previous world to just bounce around and slaughter everything with a terraprisma, this is why my friends don’t use PVP anymore 😊😊😊
using post end game stuf in new world is a stupid waste of time
I have never played terraria, so im just going to take this a pure facts.
imagine needing a gun, couldn't be me.
This post is endorsed by the Calamity Bow Ranger Group.
I play melee because even after 10+ years of playing terraria I can't dodge anything
Summoner is my favorite class, but i really hate going through early hardmode with it
The thing with calamity ranger is, its not even the worst class in calamity, its just so boring and not unique enough, like melee gets a fucking murasama and jetsteams his sam all over the place, mage gets some of the most visualy pleasing shit ever, summoner gets the highest dps in the game and cool slav- i mean summons, and rogue gets a unique playstyle, while ranger just gets the same un fun, un unique gun or bow with like the slightest changes and flamethrowers which are the only cool part but they arent that good, thats it, its just boring
You forgot about the forgotten class, the throwable class
My most used class is.... Non i just use whatever weapons i get
That's bad when you reach hardmode
i think that summoner is the best class for the reasons listed in this vider
Summoner is basically jojo's
As a mage, there's so few magic weapon before hardmode
Same with summoner
I rarely ever go true mage pre-hardmode, I typically go for melee pre-hardmode and then immediately switch to mage once hardmode starts
@@otheraccount5193 water bolt? Wand o sparks? Gem staffs? a bunch of drops from bosses and chests?
As a former melee and now mage I wanna say ur wrong. We don't die in 2 secs cuz somehow we get godly at dodging
0:18 bro forgot rouge exists.
what about the guy with no class (me) just uses random stuff
ranger is consistently A-B tier in vanilla
Mage ≠ magic summoners are also magic users, just in a different way, and mod classes also use magic even if it's not for mana like shamans, druids, mystics, bards, healers and more I call classes that use magic magicians
Everybody noticed melee trying to be every class
It isnt a secret ranger is the best class, though thats only prehardmode
Never noticed mage being fragile, and they dont apply more effects than any other class
Summoner
Rogue: I don’t have to move for most of my run and let the other guys do The rest
Healer: probably the best class for 3+ players
Bard: I annoy people more then I help them
Thrower: Rogue but bad
holy shit yes the ranger in calamity is the absolute dogshit, for me it feels like killing DoG with the rogue class felt way easier and enjoyable than killing the providence with the ranger
Wait what do you mean ranger is the worst class in calamity? It was my first play through as a ranger while playing calamity
ranger used to be the best in terraria and calamity and then in calamity they nerfed like every good weapon and accessory while buffing a lot of the other classes. summon is the best DPS now and ranger is by far the worse class
As a ranged main myself, I hate chlorophite bullets because of the valuable metal needed (I’m a big fan of infinite ammo)
Bro just make a chlorophite farm
@@Setiyo9 I don’t make farms for specific stuff
Yup I am a cholorophyte bullet spammer you got me..
0:12 so much cap I tanked moon lord in legendary
What loadout did you use? I’m interested in trying this myself
@@Diavolofromanotherwarudoreforge every item to warding
It's give you 4+ defence every equipment
Rangers are op on console inf musket pouch plus lock on is op
Looks like someone doesn't reforge to Warding
that's a damage loss
Hybrid: "sad noises"
As someone starting to play terraria, I don’t understand. I use the sword with the highest damage number and a gun I found
Respectable
i main ranger and i hate chlorophyte bullets because theyre too expensive and ive beaten calamity twice
The ranger one...that's just for lazy players though. Like...all of the others are pretty spot-on, but there are a ton of bow-mains out there and chlorophyte arrows are kind of crap for most boss fights. My personal favorite ranged weapon in the game is the Stake Launcher...such a good ML killer if you can aim.
