I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran , Thank you for your Respect for the Free World's Military's & there Veterans , You are just the kind of Folks who are worth the cost of fighting , In the Words of a Marine Lt a few years ago who said , Its not about the War , Its about the Warrior & as the Lt. Col stated He would salute him before WELL , its a requirement even the Chief of Staff for DOD is required to Salute a CMOH awardee , Thats how much Honor is earned by that Metal a Hand Salute to you and your Mrs. for your support THANK YOU , Vietnam 1972
My neighbor when I was a kid, was Duane Dewey. He also received the Medal of Honor for throwing himself on a grenade while serving as a Marine in the Korean war. He was getting care for his wounds from being hit by an earlier grenade. He and his fellow gunner were in a pit made by a different explosive when a grenade landed next to him. He yanked the corpsman to the ground and threw himself over the grenade and said something like "Doc, I've got it in my hip pocket", and it went off. He had such a sense of humor, and I loved hearing his personal account of it (what he could remember that is). He had a place down state and one next to us upstate. He'd invite his friends over to drink homemade wine and play every sort of instrument around a campfire. He at some point would be asked to tell his story. I must have heard it dozens of times over the years but never got tired of hearing it. While it did some major damage to his body, he saved several lives that day. After a lengthy recovery, he was able to walk and for the most part live a normal life. The president said when presenting the medal to him, "You must have a body of steal". RIP CPL Dewey.
Kyle is a very composed man and Marine. He enlisted in the Marine Corps for all of the right reasons including to unselfishly serve others. The brotherhood and sense of obligation to each other can be very strong in the Marine Corps. I am blessed to have been able to serve 21 years in the Marine Corps and Marines like Kyle continue the lineage of our lore.
A little back story - I worked as a teacher and was always a afraid the kids (they can be cruel) would make fun of my scars to my face. But after they got to know me, they seemed to not notice. One morning the school had an idea that on Veterans Day (or maybe it was on Memorial Day), that they would have me read that over the announcements through the school that morning. I know it by heart, and I was reading it loud and proud like in the song, but when I got towards the end, it was obvious I was starting to struggle. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. Our announcements are shown over a school-wide Television, so I know all the students saw this strong veteran cry. But I made it to the end. Again, I thought they would laugh and point, but for days, all the kids would see me and come running up and give me a hug and thank me and asked if I was okay. I miss those kids (today they are adults).
It seems to be mostly the younger generation today in 2024 that show such disrespect for everyone not saying my generation did have our own disrespectful moments I'm in my 40s but I feel most of the people I grew up with had a line we wouldn't cross. Maybe I'm seeing things asked because I was raised to show kindness to everyone but your story is beautiful and makes me all the sadder that I see so many younger people today being so cruel and hateful
I can relate only in the blacking out and worried about how my mom would feel. I woke up in Bethesda Naval Hospital in ICU when I woke, and they showed my mother in. I was so excited to see her and yet I saw the look on her face and I was feeling so bad. It was obvious she was hold back. I had no idea how bad I looked. Then they escorted her out. I couldn't talk and I wanted to cry and ask her to stay with me a little longer. Later on, during recovery, the doctor asked if I was in any pain. I was so strung up on pain meds, I honestly answered, "I don't know, I can't see my mother's face." - I gaged how bad things were by the look on her face and when she went behind the curtain, I couldn't see her face to know if I was in pain. LOL, that became a joke between her and I. I did not get the MoH as I did nothing heroic. I received some medals and was sent home and receive 100% VA Disability for the rest of my life. So, I can relate a little to his story. - Just in the recovery and the worry. He was in Walter Ried, I was in Bethesda. I was in and out of ICU for many months and recovery for 2 years. War sucks. Like him, I also still have the scars to my face and my left back/shoulder. I hate to be in pictures and have low self-esteem. The VA has me on all sorts of stuff... He is a much better man then I as he seems to take ti better then I do.
I am a female veteran, never served in a war zone, but so very proud to have served and to have served with some who did serve in war zones. Medal of Honor recipients are a special breed of people and to many Americans have forgotten the sacrifices of veterans who have fought and died or been severely injured so that they can go out and freely demonstrate against whatever they want to! They do not appreciate the sacrifices made so that they can continue to enjoy all the wonderful freedoms we enjoy. We have become a very selfish nation!
All our veterans deserve respect and recognition and their families also. Occasionally you have a military, individuals that goes above and beyond thinking only of their brothers and sisters, for this they need to be recognized, especially if they are injured in the effort. God bless all our veterans past, present, And future. You are the backbone that keeps us free. Freedom is not free, 🇺🇸 there always will be a price to pay, And individuals that are willing to pay it. God bless our Republic. 🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏿🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸

They did a hell of a job with the reconstruction surgery considering half his face was missing
I have family members who’ve served in all branches of military(including my dad) , in peace time/at home,& in war. Thank you for the respect you show our military 🙏
There is also a video of the ceremony of his receiving the Medal from Barack Obama. Oh, and the Marine he saved? He was at the ceremony, and I think he was one of Kyle's groomsmen at his wedding. Such an amazing man. So proud of my WWII navy veteran dad, army mama, and out of my brothers and me, one brother was a LEO, while my other brothers and me all followed our dad and became sailors.
Kyle... is the truest definition of "Hero". All of us who have served, and wrote our names on the dotted line to protect our country, our friends and our family, from ALL Enemies, both FOREIGN and DOMESTIC can only HOPE that we'd show the amount of courage that Kyle did, if we're ever in that same kind of position. Kyle, my fellow Marine Corps brother, you have made all of us here in America more proud of you than you will ever know! Semper Fidelis !!!
Yes the show with David Letterman is a must watch. He tells about the many wounds he had such as eye injury, many fractures etc. Yes the rescue of Jessica is a great video
One of the things when I joined in 1988. Everyone that wanted to be there already accepted they are dead. I know a lot of people that are not warriors don't understand that. Mentality. But U.S soldiers do.
“Patriotism is a word which always commemorates a robbery. There isn’t a foot of land in the world which doesn’t represent the ousting and re-ousting of a long line of successive ‘owners,’ who each in turn, as ‘patriots,’ with proud swelling hearts defended it against the next gang of ‘robbers’ who came to steal it and DID - and became swollen-hearted patriots in THEIR turn.” -- Mark Twain

There's a video of him on the David letterman show explaining the list of injuries
Yes please show Kat ‘How Seal Team Six Rescued Jessica Buchanan.’ Has she seen The First Medal of Honor ever Recorded? I know you saw it on your channel but you need to show it to her if she hasn’t seen it. All are stories of selflessness and bravery.
To receive the MOH, he probably needed to be briefed so much its like on auto pilot when he talks about it. He, for obvious reasons can't remember a lot.
Based on your comments on the clip, I know you would very much enjoy two movies that are both true stories, "Hacksaw Ridge" and "Taking Chance". I don't think you do movie reviews but these are movies you would enjoy for your own watching. There are a lot of good military related movies out there but I believe these are the best simply because they are true stories.
Jono, I really think you both would love reacting to another video titled "I Will Defend - The Michael Monsoor story". It is similar to this and is an amazing story that more people need to hear! thank you for all you do!
As someone who did 2 tours in Afghanistan and 2 in Iraq. I've had some friends die in combat and it's never easy. Especially when you get back home and have to look their wife in the face.
Jono, please get rid of all of the Fluctus videos. They are copyright claim channels for your videos. Even if it's positive. I'm just giving you a heads-up!
Always hated fluctus anyways, lazy channel / content. Forget them & watch Shawn ryan & fat electrician for example who encourage ppl to react to their content & will NEVER copyright you or strike you
Please consider watching his interview on David Letterman. You see a bit more personality (not a different one, this man is unbelievable). It's an interview so it's not as produced as this is. It also goes into the hardships he dealt with along that 3 year journey he mentioned. I believe this first premiered during one of the super bowls. I hope thumper is suggesting the David Letterman one, and I definitely suggest the seal/Jessica Buchanan if he hasn't already.
Jono, try showing Kat the Fat Electrician's video on the Most Gangster Marine ever (Dan Daly). He earned two Medals of Honor and personally I think that it should have been three...
The top story in the world this week was the release of Julian Assange from prison, the heroic Wikileaks journalist/publisher. He has arrived back home in Australia, a free man. Julian sacrificed nearly 15 years of his life, enduring conditions that amounted to torture, to protect *freedom of the press.* Without a free press, democracy cannot survive. I know it's a bit out of your comfort range, but perhaps you'll consider reacting to Assange? There are hundreds of videos on social media.
This is a wonderful/heroic/sad video. Please add to your reactions the first Medal Of Honor, John Chapman, ever recorded. And the Rescue Of Jessica Buchanon by Seal Team(not sure if it was Seal Team 6). Also, the Story Of The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier, and the changing of the guard of The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier. I really like your reactions! When you can take a trip to the USA, I hope you come to New Mexico! Great food, great scenery, great people!
There are many great American civil rights activists, whistleblowers, labor leaders and anti-war activists who have risked their lives and freedom to defend the democratic rights that we cherish. Would you consider reacting to them?
Retired Lt Colonel here I would salute him first before he has to salute me just because of that MOH!
Please don’t apologize for stopping the videos. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions and those of your family ❤

I’m a former Army attack helicopter pilot with combat experience… the Medal of Honor is no joke! This man is awesome! Thank you for your reaction!
Valor! greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends! Be safe, be blessed. 🙏🤟🔥⛪👨👩👧👦🇺🇸
US Navy Veteran. This video is awesome!! He went on David Letterman and I was amazed at his humor and quick wit. Funny Guy, great personality!!
Yeah his Letterman appearance was great and went into much more detail about what happened.
Heros aren't born. But perform under the eyes of God maby can tell ther story.

Thanks for reacting to Kyle. I know his mom. Kyle lived just a few minutes from me here in Mississippi, USA. I’ll send this link to his mom.
