This beaver is being raised by wildlife rehabbers after being orphaned as a newborn. Her parents were killed and their dam and lodge destroyed. Beavers are classified as nuisance animals in many US states and can be killed anytime. Beavers need to spend 2 years with their human rehabbers. They need to have lots of opportunities to practice instinctive behaviors. This beaver enjoys playing this game inside the house but lives with the other orphaned beavers outside most of the time. We hope you fall in love ! This misunderstood and unique species needs lots of it!
If you want to make donations towards our wildlife rescue fund, it’s called Woodside Wildlife Rescue. Every penny helps.

I need to be like this beaver. You know they picked all of this stuff up later when he was done. And he'll wake up the next day, see the dam gone, and be like "alright time to build another one" without even flinching or getting mad. Pure grind-set. Doesn't get paid for it, no one's forcing him to do it, will be sheltered and provided for regardless of whether he builds or not. But it's written into his DNA that he's gotta build, and nothing's going to stop him from it. I need that mentality when I go into work.

Definitely right that beavers are highly intelligent. The writings of Grey Owl (Archibald Stansfeld Belaney (1888-1938) particularly his ‘Pilgrims of the Wild’ give a close up of Beavers that had never before been heard of. Grey Owl had gone from trapper to conservationist at a time when the beavers had nearly been wiped out due to overhunting. His stories are insightful and humorous. When you stop and think for a moment it's crazy how deep the effect of genetics go and how many complex bbehaviours are the effects of genetics rather than immediate environment and learning.
This beaver never saw other beavers build dams, it did not learn from them by observation and repetition, he didn't go to beaver school and get its little beaver degree in building dams. It just knows where and how to pile up objects to form a barrier to stop the (real or perceived) flow of water, it's genetically encoded up to the point the beaver will start doing something as complex as building a structure meant to stop the water flow on its own without anyone having taught it how to.

I love that beaver. Just going along steadily doing what he does best. We can learn a thing or two from them. He’s precious.

What a sweet little animal. I'm glad the beaver has a safe, comfortable life.

For those who didn’t read the description:
    It’s a female beaver.
She’s in a wildlife rehab program for orphaned beavers.
She spends most of her time outdoors with the other orphaned beavers, but occasionally enjoys these dam-building activities indoors.

Thank you! It is so annoying the way people call all animals "he" when sex isn't known. All animals shouldn't automatically be called male. How biased our language is! It's very revealing as to how people think.

Thanks for catching us up. I'm glad she will have a life outdoors with other beavers because building dams with stuffed animals that don't stay stuck would be eternally frustrating for her. Thanks for sharing the fun.

@@mygirldarby same. I purposefully read the description to check if it’s male or female. There’s like a 50 percent chance the animal is not a male. Not sure why everyone ALWAYS says he or him.

Yeah we definitely can’t be assuming animals genders. Think of how upset this beaver would be if you misgendered it.

Philosophy of Emmanuel Kant at work! Just as Frost is a “perfect artist” creating icy designs on windows, this Beaver is a perfect Natural architect! Nature deserves our Respect!

I wish I was blessed with a fraction of a baby beavers' ambition and motivation. Look at his little achievers face. He doesn't understand the why...and he doesn't care. He just loves the toil.
