Redline Buys a Civic Type R from North Shore Honda

  • We all know just how strong the demand is for the new Honda Civic Type R. When we drove the car in Montreal, we came away impressed. So impressed that a member of our Redline team decided he HAD to get one. After over a month of searching with no luck, we were just about ready to give up. With mark-up prices north of $10,000 in the DC area, there was simply way too many performance cars out there in the $50,000 price bracket. Luckily, we found a dealer in Glen Head, NY who was willing to sell the Type R at a fair price. Watch the full video and see our long journey from start to finish!
    A special thanks goes to Phill Harvey and the rest of the sales team at North Shore Honda. If you guys are local to them, be sure and stop by and talk to Phill for all your Honda needs!

    Hey guys, we mention this later in the video but the dealer asked us to not disclose what Rob paid for the car. We will tell you that it was no where near the $47,500 they were originally asking. Feel free to take guesses below though! Let's just say it was a very fair price on both ends and we feel very privileged to be able to acquire one :)

    Watching the dude try to load it on the trailer was cringe. Absolutely no idea what he was doing. He didn't even want to get out and look at his clearance? What a joke.

    • @Jeff-bj7rs
      @Jeff-bj7rs 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      he didnt care enough about his new 40k civic to get out. and i bet he wouldve yelled at his friends if he did fuck up even though they tried to tell him.

    • @theupallnateshow5207
      @theupallnateshow5207 7 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      It looked like he was really insecure and self-conscious about his masculinity being at stake. So instead of getting out and trying to figure it out he left it up to his friends to call the shots so that he could throw the blame onto them if he messed up. I don't understand why he'd want to throw it on a trailer in the first place. A 6 hour road trip seems like the perfect thing to do with your brand new car

    • @theupallnateshow5207
      @theupallnateshow5207 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It's fair enough if it was his first time, my main problem is the fact that he didn't want to put any effort in it. Rather than try to be proactive about things and give it a fair crack, he just resorted to delegating things to his friends, and acting catty. He never attempted to put any thought in for himself. He literally wouldn't even get out of the car to assess the situation

      @Danny Obando did you ever buy a car in your life? By you logic every car would have to be towed home from any dealer.
      When you buy a new car all the paper work is done at the dealer and you get your temporary tag, good for about 30 days. At the time you also call your ins. company to let them know about your new car purchase.

      You serious? If you keep it at low RPMs and especially on highway it's much better than constantly putting stress on the engine during start and stops in city cruising. Low RPM without any stops on highway is the most ideal way to break in the engine. In addition it's a fucking type R. You don't pamper cars like these. They're meant to be driven.

    I'll give a few lil tips for getting up ramps without scraping the bumper. use 1-1.5 inch thickness pieces of wood to prop up the front of the car before you hit the ramps. use at least 1 foot long pieces. I use this technique also for car stand ramps when working on my car. Another trick you can do is put car stand ramps in front of the rear wheels of the pickup truck, drive forward and it'll raise the rear or the pickup truck which will raise the angle of the trailer but it'll flatten out the angle of the trailer ramps :) I've done that trick when putting my brothers much lower 180sx on a car trailer.

      Back in 2004 I bought a factory fresh '01 spec Type-R replacement motor from King Motorsports(The Mugen distributor). They told to beat the piss out of it for 200mi then change the oil, and then beat the piss out of it some more. Zero break in time is required for those brilliant Honda motors. Aggressive driving is said to help seat the rings.
      PS. That motor continued to use oil the first 7,000mi, and then it quit using oil. I sold it at 60k.

    I thoroughly enjoyed watching this event come together. Taking delivery of any new car is fun, and a *special* car get extra bunny hops and smiles. But...Whew! Loading the car onto the hauler, and watching the bumper lip contact the ramps! I was clenching my teeth during this scene.
