I went there in the early 90's. There was no airport at Mulu - You flew into Miri, spent a night there - then had to take a series of boats from Miri, leaving at 6am to get to Mulu that evening. The final boat was a long boat - a canoe with an outboard motor on it basically. There were no hotels at Mulu, no proper accomodation like in this video - it was very basic dormitory accomodation. No aircon, no restaurants. Adventure tourism! Looks like it's changed a lot. Wow.
Hey Fred, I read about and heard from friends about the "old ways" of getting to Mulu. I kind wished that, but it really allowed my wife and I to do what we wanted to do within the time span we had as we travelled around the rest of Malaysia. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hey guys, Mulu NP is one of the best places to be if you're looking for deep bio-diverse rainforest adventures. What's your favorite spot?
The caves in my opinion are one of the SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD. Absolutely stunning. I was just amazed being in this amazing location.
I agree. When were you there?

@@gearupaaron Looks like they cleared a lot of forest at Mulu to build that airport - when I was there, there wasn't any open space like that at all.
I was at Mulu 2010 ish. Magical place. Deer caves sheer size is impossible to capture on camera.
And the variety and abundance of flora and fauna you see on any walk there is crazy!
What is d name of the hotel?
The one at the end? It's called Jinhold Hotel and Apartments. Hope that helps!
@@gearupaaron is that d hotel u stayed in mulu?
Oh, the one in the Mulu itself? That would be the Mulu National Park's Rainforest Lodge, within the park itself.
Thanks for the info... Good day...
Malaysia is truly a Paradise!
Yes, indeed!
