My overall experience of Malaysia is 7 out of 10.
Malaysia resorts are 10 out 10, perfect discovery of tourism.
When my first tour in malaysia I could only visited kl, cameron higlands. Next time definitely visit gentin higland, lankavi and batukavs. Love malaysia from srilanka

I live in Malaysia for my lifetime. I love Malaysia and shoukd explore more place in Malaysia rather than oversea . Malaysia still a good place to live because of the sunny weather all year and beautiful beaches and diving spot that is No 1 in the world
The diving in western Malaysia, where most people visit, is average at best but even then only on the west coast and at certain times of year.
We also really loved visiting Malaysia with our 3 small children! Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands, Penang, and Langkawi…we needed more time to really enjoy all of what Malaysia has to offer!

Malaysia is in my top 5 favourite countries that I've visited and have visited there 5 times. From this list I have visited Penang, KL, Malacca, Perhentian Islands and Langkawi. Other places I've been to that is not on your list are Putrajaya, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kapas Island, Redang Island, Tioman Island)
I need to do one more trip to Malaysia and see the Borneo part (Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Sarawak, Semporna, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Mabul Island, Sipadan Island)
EDIT - UPDATED: I have now visited Malaysia for the 6th time and been to the Borneo parts of Malaysia (Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Semporna, Sipadan Island, Mabul Island)

Every South East Asia countries have special and fascinating places to visits. But if you has limited time and budget for it, just visit Malaysia. Its have all the cultures, languages and foods. Maybe some of it Singapore also have, but Malaysia offered with plenty, cheaper, affordable for any budgets.
Pulau Pinang or Penang is the worth place to visit and holiday cause they have many beautiful island and 2 longest bridge.

Great country with great people
I lived in Malaya in 1960's as Malaysia was born. We lived in Kluang about 70 miles north of Singapore surround by wild and fantastically impenetrable jungle. I went to school in the Cameron Highlands, Kuala Lumpur and finally Singapore itself. Malaysia has changed significanlty as is shown by this film.
I loved my years in Malaysia even though the Malaysia I enjoyed is gone forever unfortunately. I ran wild in the jungle - it has to be the most exotic playground on the planet.
I would dearly love to return to the Cameron Highlands and to see Kluang again before I die.

Warning: if you are not from a hot country and not used to the high temperatures you may not be able to handle this extremely hot country. It was 90 degrees Fahrenheit everyday. I learnt to go out early in the morning and in the evening and stay in the hotel in the middle of the day to escape the heat.
It also rains everyday because it's a tropical country. For an entire week I've been caught in the rain everyday. One of those times was an absolute downpour and by the time I got to the metro station I was completely soaked.
The people are nice and helpful when you ask for a directions.
The Metro system in Kuala Lumpur is very confusing and even a Malaysian like my hotel reception lady had trouble understanding it in order to give me some directions.
