    RK3 Designs started as a way for Rhonda to showcase her creativity but has blossomed into a way to help others find theirs. Her obsession with painting led her to start refinishing furniture and kitchen cabinets. She found customers wanted a nicer option than laminate but more affordable and customizable than natural stone, which lead her to countertop epoxy! Since then, she’s helped thousands of students, from across the country (and even Canada eh?).

    I’m experimenting with tinted metallic texture medium and using the roller…..and then adding more color. I’d like to see videos taking a textured surface to another level by adding color, glitter, paint or whatever. Maybe on a piece of furniture as an accent piece.

    Love this. So many possibilities!
    I have played around using a graining tool on epoxy that was almost set and topping with a flood coat. It didn’t hold the ridges as much as I liked, but the mica powders created really cool deposits in the grains.
    Your technique allows for better control of the texture and color. Thank you for sharing!! 🥰

    Just gorgeous 😍 I'm no faux finish expert by any stretch but I do try. I wood grained my front door and garage door this fall and tried so hard to figure out how to get that dark shadow in strategic areas. I failed because I was using gel stain and didn't know what to use on top of it that had controllable coverage. It came out fine without the shadowing but I'd still like to know how to get that with oil based products.
    Thanks so much for your expertise! You are bomb!

  • @Paula-po9kx
    @Paula-po9kx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you Rhonda. I like the side you made the planks, that looks so realistic. Doing it this way would you still have round you edges or could you have sharp edge? Could you tape the edges and let the epoxy set up for a little while then pull your tape to let it run over the edge? Both sides are stunning, your creative abilities are amazing you are so talented.

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You probably could get away with keeping a 90% edge. I would use my hand thought to apply extra epoxy on the edges. 😊😊

  • @CeruleanBlue1967
    @CeruleanBlue1967 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Could this finish be done on a floor? Would it be cost effective? It’s really beautiful and someone could make it truly unique to their taste/style.

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn’t recommend it be applied to a floor with this texture medium, just because of the excessive weight and traffic of a floor. There’s maybe another medium that is durable enough for flooring. I would have to do some research.

    • @deliciousness5688
      @deliciousness5688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have used a technique that involved painting my subfloor a lighter color then using a dark brown gel stain and a wood grain rocker then sealing it with a fast drying clear acrylic sealer. Yes yes I know painting sub floor is “bad” but the worn and stained pink carpet from the 80’s had to go and it was the only option. It’s lasted for over 10 years. I have no regrets. Anything was better than the carpet. I have pets and kids, my floors get a lot of traffic but it’s held up surprisingly well.
