    We are going in June,
    Thank you for putting the heat and temperature into perspective
    You probably saved the lives of amateur hikers like myself,
    lives.

      Yeah -- the heat can be really crazy there in the summer. Enjoy your trip and thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌

    We camped there when our kids were little, maybe 8 and 10. We arrived after dark, and had to set up our camp in the dark with the van headlights.We listened to coyotes and a great horned owl all night, and it got super cold! I think it was March. Next morning we awoke to all these bizarre formations! Great place!

    LOL! I guess what you are saying is...don't go in the summer when it is 111? One of these days I'm going to get there - but in the winter! Thanks for sharing Jamal!

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah... it's funny because on many of my spring videos I'll often say that I much prefer the heat to the cold, but... this was a little TOO hot! On the upside though... I did have the place all to myself! 👍😀 Thx for watching and the comment.

    Just there, the end of April, was getting too hot and got heatstroke. 🥵 Loved every minute, except 🤮 over the rocks. Had to keep taking pictures as I was escorted out. Looking forward to returning 😊

      Awesome -- glad you had a good trip. I just read that they are now closing some of the trails during the summer because of the extreme heat. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌️

    Great place. I haven’t been there. I have a lot of paintings from Valley of Fire. My friend’s mother lived in the area on her retirement and painted all the time. I was the one who admired her paintings and after her death I got around 20. Next place to explore. Thank you for the inspiration.

    Thanks for sharing! I visited this park about a year and half ago on my first trip to Zion. We only had time for one hike and it was a toss up between Fire Wave and White Domes loop. We ended up doing White Domes because we wanted to see the small slot canyon. I enjoyed seeing the Fire Wave on here and it makes me want to stop there again next time I'm in that side of the country! :-)

    Valley of Fire is just one huge adult playground. There's just tons of ways to explore and have fun out there. I climbed to the top of that mini "Yellow Rock" at 3:19 and the views there are awesome.

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! I had my eye on that yellow rock -- it just wasn't the day for exploration for me. I also passed on "Crazy Hill" and a few other short hikes. There's some longer unofficial routes there that looks cool too. Thanks for watching and hope all is good for you! 👍

FYI.. I found it!!! I am taking my niece on her first backpacking trip this year. I've got permits for wire pass all the way to Lee's ferry beginning July 1st

    • @Acrossutah

      That's great -- so many people don't make the short side-hike to get to that spot, but it really is worth it IMHO. Hope you enjoy your next trip as well. Cheers! ✌

    That is one beautiful park. I tell anyone going to Vegas to rent a cheap car and visit Valley of Fire State Park. I don't think hot weather is when I would go. Each of the dozen times I've been there, I was escaping the cold Great Lakes area.

  • @hectorclavijo886
    @hectorclavijo886 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Which of the two do you suggest? Can both be doing the same day? Is the total hike 1.5 mi from the car and back or one way? Heading there Monday.

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just 1.5 miles roundtrip, so definitely time for another hike or two (as long as it's not too hot.) White Domes loop is probably the better hike, but the Fire Wave is a better destination. I'd do both if possible. Have a good trip!

    Quite the “hidden” gem offering a lot of variety without being rundown by crowds

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I know it's gained in popularity over the years, but it still seems far from overrun (though... mid-day on a Wednesday in August is probably not a true indicator!) Actually... parts were crowded during my visit; but not with tourists, but instead with a large film crew shooting something. They even had the scenic drive shut down for a while and took over one camp area.

      @Stinky Piece of Cheese Compared to many parks in the southwest it is not "busy".

    I don't know if you will see this I'm taking a trip in Dec to Vegas and I wanna spend a day or couple of hours in valley of fire is there clear directions to get to the trails and are there clear markings on the trails

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya -- yes, trails are fairly well marked and there's decent signage throughout the park. I don't think the Fire Wave itself has a sign for the parking area, but there is a sign/kiosk at the trailhead for the trail itself. Stop in at the Visitor Center to get clarification/overview of the options. Have fun. 👍🌞
