I think they need to look at the higher tier bench ui with this, either adding tier tabs or making the bench crafting ui larger to make it a bit easier to see the crafts.
I love my weekly Icarus update! Lots of minor changes. I think the bench progression changes are missing one thing - the ability to convert a lower tier INTO a higher tier. Might be a little complicated, but I think that would make sense. For some benches, like the crafting bench series I think it makes a lot of sense to have multiple benches for two connected reasons. First, these benches have a lot of useful and often used recipes at each tier. Second, these recipes rely on the bench having mats that are more suited to the recipes within a given tier. It might be that I would change all my crafting series benches to have a bunch of fabricators - but I'm not sure. Currently I dedicate a machining bench to electronics, one to aluminum construction pieces, and one to everything else. I've been thinking about making one just for ammunition. IF tier one and tier two recipes are indeed crafted faster in fabricators that might be a decent reason to change all these benches to fabricators. Another thing that would be useful would be the ability to toggle the recipes in a bench to just display tier one or tier two or tier 3 etc recipes. To make finding the item you are looking for faster. Finally, I think the storage within the benches should expand, increasing at tier two and again at tier three. This is because each tier usually uses different sets of materials and it is convenient to stow them in the bench. Alternatively, we could get what other games have which is crafting based on mats that are stored anywhere within the base (the best option). OR perhaps just let us assign particular storage units to particular benches (more complicated, clumsy and less useful but better than we currently have at least). I am most excited that we now get noxious crust for stone and salt. YAY! Reducing grind for stone in particular is very very welcome. Might need to be careful however when mining a big one if you have the ability to instantly get the whole thing. Because now your inventory will instantly fill up with noxious crust! BAM! now you are carrying 800 noxious crust! That will be funny to see. Thanks as always my friend, for a fun and thorough update! Cheers! JW
Pyritic crust? Is that the same kinda thing as the miasmic stuff? I'm new to icarus just got my miasmic axe for infinite epoxy it's soo good 😂, also thank God for the bench update so tired of back and forthing between all the benches to craft stuff...
newer benches craft faster though, so it's better to have 3 fabricators then fabi, machine and workbench :D This is such a great update, and looking forward to more
Thanks for the update video as always Josh. I'm wondering if you are lower level and don't have access to the higher tier benches, for example the fabricator, if stuff like the workbench will display in the fabricator for that low level character. Logically it should, but I wonder if it actually does. It's probably something I'll check out this week.
Btw, do you and Dee have a good system on the placement of the troughs so that the animals can all access food/water without preventing each other from getting to it?
Well if your a lower level looking into a fabricator you should only see the things unlocked that you have learned. Otherwise they work the same as before just consolidated. Also on the trough's you just need a few sets of them so they can go to different ones at a time. That way they wont huddle.
I left this game a while ago even though I loved it, but the tremendous amount of stuttering that occurred whenever I got too close to a large base, just became untenable. Also, my wife continued losing Workshop items virtually every time she did a mission. We very regrettably left but I continue to check in to see if any of the problems have been fixed. The consolidation of the crafting benches is a good first step since the database will have fewer objects to track. But is it enough? Those of you still playing, how is the stuttering now, has performance increased at all? I'm a builder and I loved building in this game but it quickly becomes apparent that too large a base = too much stuttering. How are things now?
Studer's are still a huge problem & so are bugs. Things still disappear sometimes. The game seems to be getting worse with performance if you ask me, instead of better. I'm unsure if they will ever fix the issues plaguing the game, they keep adding new things to the game but not fixing the things that really matter. You can add everything to the game, but if people cant play it what's the point? Always boggles my mind...
Happy Days Josh. I can again play. Spent hours and hours getting my tiny 4gb gpu to exert itself. Thanks to AMD new drivers and everything working on that side. I am up and running. Now have a major issue. Going to start a new home on Styx, I can not make a decision on where. That's women for you, I'm just running around like a looney. Any suggestions ? does Dee have a favorite place? Oh and thank you for the mention I wasn't expecting that lol
Tiler - I found the J6 area to be a nice one to build in. I put a base over the water where two rivers meet and connect their flow into a single river. Gave me panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the whole valley. Plenty of resources around, although you will want to tap deep veins as there is no "mega cave" for easy thumping. Big lake and high ridges that overlook it provide other possible sites for a nice base.If you like island bases G7 has some opportunities (note that crocs may make island bases less favorable, but creature deterrents work on them). I actually started my icarus journey in the ring lake portion and wound up finding M9 as the best place for nice views etc. Good luck with the base! JW
@@johnwilkinsoniv1746 I had a nice base in K6 at the top of the hill before the snow. No critters ever came to my base unless i was being chased lol. I Know the area like the back of my hand from memory. Maps always used to crash pc so couldn't use the map. looking forward to doing missions now map is somewhat usable. I have 1500 hrs on the game and only done about 3 or 4 missions..J6 it is then and another at Josh and Dee's south Oasis. Cheers
Yah. I keep saying to myself it’s their game they keep changing, but I guess we don’t have to play it anymore if we’re not having fun. And I haven’t for more than a month or so, I think our content on Icarus is coming to an end shortly. Oh well
How to do feel about the changes? Comment let us know!

Yah its a whole lot of stuff in there now. Separate it into tiers. For now you can use the search options in the benches.

All great suggestions. I’d love more room in benches
Wish they would increase storage on the high tier benches. They get full quickly! Also really need a water hook up to the animal water troughs!!!
I agree! They did state they will have more advance troughs but I fear they will be part of a DLC at least that's the way its is looking.
@@LateNightStream same, not a fan of DLCs that don’t include what they promised originally.
Finally, I saw no reason that higher tier food making benches could not make food from the other ones.
Yah seemed kind of silly. Glad they decided to do this update.

someone needs to make a mod that pulls mats from your chest when crafting
Yep that would be noice
I just wish they'd fix losing a pack animals entire inventory when they get killed. :(
That's absurd that happens! Never knew it was an issue.
It would be nice if they would work on optimizing the game. Only way I can log in now is in windowed mode or I get timed out.
I really wish they would too and work on bugs before adding or “fixing” things

We personally love the south east oasis and the middle of the great Styx river if your looking for a challenge then ring lake 😀 thanks for watching!
