You can learn all the button positions on the remote and be able to skip tracks, adjust levels, mute, make calls (start/end) adjust volume and navigate through folders/files without needing to look at what you're doing. Which is great if you have a car where the radio is low in the dash because taking your eyes off the road to find a song can be a bad idea.

You get the rear camera to only work when you are in reverse by wiring the power to it from splicing it into the reversing lights

IR Blaster is likely for use with an interface module for retaining steering wheel controls. Most Android based radios will have a key1 and a key2 wire that act as an ohm meter to determine different button inputs, this will work if your steering wheel produces analog signals to the radio. If your steering wheel controls produce a digital signal, an interface module will be needed to convert those signals to something that the radio can read. Either a variable resistance to represent each button, or via the IR Blaster port.

The remote was useful when I participated in car shows and wanted to show off radio and sound capabilities from outside the car. It was also useful for those in the backseat to have some control over the radio without having to ask or reach up (like kids) especially since this unit came with a DVD player.

A remote is great in the car, it’s just like at home where your thumb learns the TV remote and you don’t have to look at it you just change the channels or the volume or whatever from memory. It works the same in your car that way you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to do all the functions of the radio. Takes a little practice but it works awesome I’ve been using a remote in my car for over 15 years

Thanks for the review, I know it's not recent, but, actually I use my remote all the time in the hooptie 'cuz I lack steering wheel controls, mainly to avoid plowing up a field in my car due to looking at the radio vs. watching the road like I did once (the joint I had just smoked prob didn't help); however this looks like just the setup for my 92 accord...

re remote control: I had a Chinese all in one head unit in my Civic that came with a remote control. Had the remote worked, it would have been handy to use, because I did NOT have steering wheel controls. Holding the remote in one hand would have allowed me to adjust volume, change tracks, switch stations etc while keeping my eyes on the road. Sadly, my remote would only work when it was pitch black outside; daylight overwhelmed the IR sensor.

First question is, It had Video In/Out If that is for DVD where it can be linked to head units in the rear of the front seat head rests then that could be a use for the remote as whilst travelling this unit locks out displaying DVD on the unit display? Could also give the rear seat passengers the ability to control the music? I do not see the use of the and Hand Brake On detector for the rear view Camera? If it is a Back Up Camera then that infers for use whilst Reversing the vehicle so actually needs a Reverse Selector Detection Unit which could then have a Automatic or Manual select. In Automatic I would presume it has a unit that detects the Reverse Gear Selection trigger which would then switch the Unit display to the Rear View Camera. Then turn back to the previous selection when Gear Selector is moved out of Reverse? I think that would be a pain after a while and a simple On/Off button for it so you can turn it On/Off when you want would be easier unless there is a delay so it does not turn On/Off when you shift from Park to Drive?

I've never understood a remote control, for something that's half an arms reach away. Same with wheel controls.
My current cars has wheel controls, and I use them. But my last car before , had a radio with wheel controls, but it had no USB or aux so I swapped it out and lost the wheel controls, but I never gave it a second thought.
Before that car I had many with remotes, I never used them once. Thry lived in the glove box for the life of my ownership.
Never understood them. Wheel control are a nice addition, but I wouldn't be a deal breaker. Though it's unlike I'll get a car that doesn't have wheel controls, as ive not seen a new one in years not have them.

Even if it reports it as one, it is obviously not a phone, and therefore is expected to have a significant difference in looks, and technically, my opinion is that 4.4 had a more car driver friendly look and feel, at least in general...

I used the remote in my old chevy truck ('92 K1500 Blazer). They mounted the radio controls in a small dash pod and the tape deck/main HU controled by the part in the pod is the only single din space mounted in the center of the dash maybe somewhat closer to the passenger, you really couldn't reach it without leaning way over so the remote was useful.

I use the remote that comes with head units all the time in my big truck. Not big like pickups, like my kenworths and peterbilts. The are older in truck standards and the radios are way up tucked in the headliner basically. So I really have to reach to get to it, and all it takes is a second of eyes off the road and I'm in a ditch somewhere or rear ending someone. So that's why the remote is gold for me personally!

IR is useful if you want your passengers in the backseat (assuming you have a 4 door car or 4-seat 2-door with people in the back) to change radio station source and other stuff while driver is driving. I have a Kenwood single DIN stereo (FM/AM/BT/USB/HD Radio) in my 2000 Nissan Frontier regular cab 5-speed stick base model and use the remote sometimes since I have no steering wheel controls. My truck has space for a double DIN, but I opted for a simple single DIN since it came with a factory storage pocket from Nissan where a double DIN would take away that space. Orginal radio was a single DIN cassette player. I replaced speakers in it as well as the orginal Panasonic ones were shot.

And just an FYI… These things are absolute junk! They work OK for a little while and then they just fall apart. I’ve had people bring me these things to install in a few weeks later they’re back wondering why half of it doesn’t work. Also the specs on these things are horrible… The internal Mosset amp might be good for five or 6 W without distortion but anything above that is pretty much a straight square sine wave and sounds horrible. If they do come with RCA outputs and there such low voltage was so much distortion they’re not usable in my opinion. Just bite the bullet and buy a Kenwood pioneer or Alpine unit… Hell even Sony and clarion Make you much much better stereo on this. Myself I am a pioneer fan have been for 40 years and I still have pioneer stereo is sitting on a shelf from 20 years ago that still work great! You get what you pay for.

To be honest, for those with fancy audio setups, these radio's aren't for them. Also, not everything made by china is bad. There's quite a few good android radio's out there, but they cost more then a 100 bucks. The one I have from Erisin in my ford works great, sound quality is better then the standard ford radio and it's built very well.
I would have loved to buy a kenwood, pioneer or something though, but seeing as they are lacking in features n pretty much all radio's they just arent worth their money to me.

The things that are wrong with this stereo is that the chassis isn't your typical double din, it is oversized, meaning it won't fit most of the double din dash kits available for vehicles. Another thing, although the features are cool, they sound really bad, and the preamp output voltage on the rca outputs is very small, like 1 volt or less, which makes for a terrible signal going to any aftermarket amplifier.

but isn't there an oversize install kit available? I was looking at one for my vitara then I found it was too large but found that they offered an install kit that deleted that space around the kit for units that are 7 plus inches instead of the standard 5.5 and 6 .

Noticed a little bit of probably unintentional misinformation there, in some countries and I imagine maybe some states in the US, that handbrake wire has to be hooked up correctly due to not complying with annual safety inspections if it isn't.

Hard to say. I bought one over 5 years ago from Eonon for my daily driving Nissan and it only developed the white screen of death two days ago. I suspect its a video cable connecting the video chip to the monitor that is the issue. My experience and yours are not the same. Hopefully the new one I just ordered from Eincar will do just as well.

I have a flip up unit which I use in my car and the remote is actually pretty useful for rear passengers, mainly my much younger siblings who aren't really old enough for smart devices but need entertainment during a long road trip. As I am driving I prefer not to have to mess with screens and, as long as a passenger or I can change the discs they can watch movies from the rear seat.

The IR remote is designed for the kids in the back seat mate, not really for the driver lol. However, if you mod cars then you should be happy that they include one, because you can easily use the remote's circuit board to add additional buttons to your car that aren't present on your wheel.
Power the remote off 12v using some resistors, a voltage regulator or a little 12v power supply board/kit from China for a battery-free installation. Remove the IR sensor and remote wire it such that it has an unobstructed line of sight to the unit, then solder wires to either side of the desired switch contacts and solder them to momentary switches of your choice. You can mount said buttons on any removable 'optional feature' button panel in the car, just get some from a junk yard, or make a custom button plate.

I use the remote because I sit back from my steering wheel where it's easier to just click buttons on the remote once I memorize the buttons. Sometimes the controls don't work with my steering wheel when I put in a head unit, or I don't feel like hooking them up. In cases where I do, sometimes it's easier giving it to my passenger to be my DJ

Hey, I enjoyed the video. Would have been nice to get some sound happening, and get your impression of the sound quality. Maybe do a followup when you get it in your vehicle.
I've just done kind of a twist on what you did: I chose the highest spec deck I could find, and then found the lowest price for that product on AliExpress. Took a deep breath, plugged in my credit card and hoped. 3 days (!) after I clicked purchase, DHL dropped a box in my hands (the shipping from China to Alberta was included in the purchase price). The unit runs Android 8, uses the Octacore 1.5 Ghz Cortex A53 processor, has 32Gb ROM and 4Gb RAM... and I paid $387.22 Canadian. Now, in terms of bang for the buck, you definitely did better than I did. But when I compare what I got, and what I paid, to the stuff on Crutchfield... man. If I were Panasonic, or Sony, or any other high end head unit manufacturer, I'd be kinda worried right now. These Chinese units are blowing them out of the water.
Good luck with your channel! >Charlie

Hi, Efrain - I purchased a Chinese head unit for my last vehicle, a Honda Civic, back in 2014; it was still working great when I removed it a month ago. Times have changed, Android is the dominant life form and Windows CE - which my Civic head unit runs on - is virtually extinct. So I probably won't put it in another vehicle; it might be born again as a miniature stereo for the exercise room. But in terms of trouble free, it has been. I paid about $350 for that unit, and it was a great investment.

I came across some of these in my country, here's are the verdict:
    1. Media playback wise, it playback all the tricky format, 1080p H264 video with audio of Dolby 5.1/DTS 5.1, AAC, MP3, M4A, all can be played without any issue. It also play lossless audio format FLAC, APE, and WAV file, but is normal CD lossless 1411kbps, 44.1khz file, Hi-Res audio file that goes upper than these figure is not supported. But can install third party apps to play it via software emulation. Of course, CD/VCD/DVD playback is ok. Media file stored on DVD disk (MP3 for example) also can be played. However, there are lag while navigate in between video file for playback via USB, it lag on first few 10 seconds of playback, probably due to the limitation of USB 2.0 transfer speed.
    2. This one, unlike the normal MP5 car player, play the USB drive without hiccup and restarting, it even detect the NTFS file system on USB, so MKV file that stored H264 1080p video that is more than 4GB (max tested 15GB) can be played without any issue. Small thumb drive tested up to 128GB has no issue.
    3. The android system actually has capacitive touch screen and very smooth in navigation, much better than non Android player.
    4. Radio reception sadly is very poor, much worse than branded player.
    5. Screen wise, one of the most important part, is just awful. Viewing angle and colors reproduction is just sub par. Despite being able to play 1080p file, the screen simply isn't, I guess the screen resolution is only 800 x 480, the video playback show very obvious pixelated artifact.
    6. Audio output from the amp is very poor, should be less than 10W on true output, sound fidelity and quality is not very good. Must need extra external amp to improve the sound quality and volume power.
    7. All WiFi, back camera, GPS actually works, it even has internal memory to store media file and apps. It almost function like a cheap Android smartphone.
All in all, if sound quality is not your main priority, then this is the true media king at very cheap price, just like any high end TV box or media player, but with limitation. I don't want to comment on it's durability, much of it are based on luck. At least this one feel much like a high end player with very responsive touch screen than those non Android players.
    My Suggestion:
A similar priced smartphone or tablet integration that connect to your current Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, JVC unit via 3.5mm (AUX input) is a much recommended option than this setup, you can get much higher quality screen with much better resolution, and it does sound much better where your branded amp handled these better than these cheap players.

I figured you can use the remote outside of a normal vehicle application. Boats, RV's, limos, and possibly when you're driving for Uber or Lyft and you can allow your passengers to control the music. I personally wouldn't use it for driver controls because of the ir sensor. I would make a custom Bluetooth panel instead.
