Hi Ciara!! I must say… 80 books to read is not very much, as I have 200 😅 counting like, graphic novels, non fiction, novels… it was actually 199 but I bought one last week. No more books! I don’t know, there are books in my shelves for the next four years. But the worst is that i work in a library that has everything 😅 such a temptation… I will be reading soon Anne of Avonlea, I want to keep on the series, Anne of green gables is such a heartwarming classic… I have read The Secret Garden and it was not what I expected… maybe I was too old for it but that book was, well, okay but nothing more. I actually don’t like Taylor Jenkins Read books, but i’ve only tried the last ones, not the romance ones, should check that out. And omg! I went to Nice on vacation last year!! It’s a lovely place, I really loved it. It has cultural places (I recommend to visit the orthodox cathedral), there is the beach… be careful with the beach, there are rocks, no sand at all. Have a lovely vacation and good luck to read all of your books 😊
When your video notifications arrive, I get an instant smile. 😊 Maybe you are like me, and don’t want to read those sad, depressing books. I stay away from unhappy endings on purpose. 😂 Do what feels right! I’m reading Anne of the Island right now! I made the mistake of watching Anne With An E on Netflix first, so I’m struggling because the books are extremely different. But still enjoying it.
Loved this video, it’s so interesting to see the common themes in the books on your tbr! ❤️ The Book Thief is my fave book of all time! I’ve re-read it a few times and I wouldn’t say it’s fantasy - Death is the narrator, so just like another character’s view. So don’t let that put you off reading it, but be emotionally prepared! 🥹
Thankyou Ciara. I am new to your channel but enjoyed hearing about your TBR. I must say that Milkman was a book I hated so much as was Cleopatra and Frankenstein.. one of only two books which I never finished. The other was Ulysses by James Joyce. One of the best books I have read in the past year was Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The characters were some of the quirkiest and most lovable I have met in my reading travels... even the dog.
I love hearing about all your books! I have a similar amount on my TBR. In addition to a compelling, non-linear storyline, Black Cake does, indeed, contain wonderful foodie bits about the baking of the culturally significant cake! It may make you want to attempt to bake a vegan black cake, which I would love to see! 😍
I feel like fiction books that really dive into the role foods can play in life/culture are few and far between so I’m excited to read that one and, who knows, maybe I will be inspired to veganise black cake!
When God Was A Rabbit is such a lovely (and heartbreaking) book. I read it a long time ago but it still sits with me, and Sarah Winman has become my favourite author by virtue of her four novels. Tin Man is my favourite book of all time 🌻
So many of these books I have read and loved. Although- I picked up Milkman after seeing it on your channel, and still have yet to read it... Looking forward to hearing you talk about these!
Heyy Ciara - so good to see you - Ive read every single Agatha Raisin books and I really would recommend you start at the beginning with The Quiche Of Death - they’re definitely books where you get to know all the characters as the series goes on - some are really funny and good and some are meh! However I will say just the setting is just so cozy ( The Cotswolds ) . Yes they are really far fetched but they’re nice easy reads and fun xx I read the House on the Strand as part of yours and Sarahs A-Z of classics readathon and if it wasn’t for you guys I’d never of even heard of that Daphne Du Maurier book - Its not for everyone , but I absolutely LOVED it x x Enjoy reading your shelves - I must do the same !! Xx Glad your back x
Hahah The Quiche of Death sounds hilarious! I think I took A Spoonful of Poison from my mum so didn’t realise there was a dull series, but will definitely make sure to get to them in the right order!
@@ciarascorner the characters are hilarious - sir charles being one of my favs … the only one I haven’t read is the very last one . I didn’t read it because it was written by someone else as MC Beaton died a few years ago now … As I say they’re definitely not great pieces of literature but they are most fun …Ive read at least 17 of them twice a few Ive felt were really weak and books written just to fulfil a contract . I hope you enjoy reading them , they’re just nice cozy mystery fillers for in between , a brain cleanser if you like xx 😘
recently, I wrote down every single book I own and which ones are still unread! it was a long process, but very fun and insightful as well 🌸 loved this video 💚
I picked up Cleopatra and Frankenstein last week. A Little Life is one of my favourite books of all time so it's promising to hear it compared to that! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it 💕
I read the book "Midnight at Everwood" and it's great. It's a darker retelling of the nutcracker so I would wait for Christmas time for this but I would love to see it in your vlog one day. Also my mum read me the Anne of Green Gables series when I was little and I cried when we finished it. It was my first ever book hungover 😂
I've read some of those. I happen to very much like Nathenial Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter, in particular the way he develops an alter ego to narrate the story. The Green Mile too is a favorite, though I don't find it painful at all. Actually, as I read it I find myself wondering how accurate are the facts that the captain of the prison guards imparts. Having seen the movie certainly you're aware of the highly unlikely nature of the events, which should trigger our unreliable narrator alarms. Additionally, the book goes deeper into the captain's life, who is possibly as much a main character as is the unfortunate prisoner he befriends.
I bought a new pair of bluetooth headphones, which are convenient but apparently the battery is low now, So, Ill need to signout and come back later to hear this in its entirety. However, I did want to let you know that I did read (listen on Audible) Little Women this month, and did - as expected - enjoy it a lot. So thx for the suggestion, and I'll be back later.
First, LOVE your sweater 😍 Second, math doesn't add up...🤔 I have 450+ books, 95% are hardcovers and I can fit them in 2 standard Billy bookcases without doublestacking:) How 260+ books of yours take 4 shelves??? They already look full!!!😲🧐🤗
Thank you! Hahah you’re right - it’s because quite a few of the shelves are Jay’s books that I don’t intend on reading so I didn’t include them in the total! Also the top and bottom shelves that are out of the camera shot are also empty for a couple of the shelves!
Well done for only having 80+ books on your tbr. If I am honest I think mine is closer to 300. I adored One True Loves so read that if you loved her others like it. I also adore Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden.
Per the Classics... Read Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon as it is not as bleak as Beloved. It still has deep themes, and I think it is better, in my top 10. I highly, highly recommend it. Yes, Tess is depressing but I have liked everything by Hardy thus far. I think Scarlet Letter is more inspirational than depressing (your own feelings and opinions, what you love and mother's devotion is more important than what other people think). Yes, Joe Hill is Stephen King's son. I read about 20 pages of that book and frankly I couldn't tell the difference between King and Hill. Salem's Lot is early Stephen King; the book is better than the movie. The Book Thief is a really good book. Not a fantasy, but Historical Fiction. A tear-jerker.
Fire and Blood was such a good read and i didnt expect to like it. First because there is little dialoge and second Targ were really not that interesting to me. But when i started i got totally pull in to that world, and i even liked the part before the Dance more. Not to mention George is such a good writter.
Hi ! I really like your accent, it's different from other accents I've heard. Where are you from ? Or is it just the way you speak, because it's very "chic" (it's the best way I can describe it), like a noblewoman. Thank you
@@ciarascorner Ahhhh really hahaha ! It really sounds lovely to me ; I speak french actually. I think the "chic" element has a lot to do with your voice and your intonation, it is very special (in a good way), Have a great day ❤
i think you'll like cleo and frank but i don't see the a little life comparison at all. it's like sally rooney with richer, brighter dialogue and characters.
You have become my comfort youtuber and I think it's partly to do with you usually starting your videos holding a warm cup of tea ☺

That’s impressive! Definitely with you on Anne of Green Gables - such a feel good series!

Aww thank you so much! I have to be in the right mood for a sad book but generally, I love a happy ending! I really loved Anne with an E!
I can't wait for you to read One True Loves. I loved it so much and I'm very excited for the movie coming out this month!!!

I definitely agree that TJR has a refreshing take on romances. Her books feel like they're based on the what ifs that we don't want to consider.

I have about 538 on my TBR- I’m trying to get it down a bit this year but most of them are classics so those take a bit longer for sure 😂
Classics definitely take me longer!
Absolutely loved this video as always, Ciara!! ❤❤

I feel like it’s so fun to do a bit of a book inventory ever once in a while!
When is your next video coming Mary? ,,, it has been such a long time
I picked up Cleopatra and Frankenstein last week. A Little Life is one of my favourite books of all time so it's promising to hear it compared to that! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it 💕
That comparison is definitely what made me decide to purchase it!

Ooh I didn’t know that, will save it for Christmas!
16:17 the Comoran Strike fictional series is about a Royal vet that lost his leg during war and became a private detective.
Ciara, I have to smile because you do know you resemble Rory Gilmore, right?! 😀
Aw thank you!!😅
Thank you for this video! I love The Maid! You have lots to read and so do I! I am afraid to count them! :) 🤗
Hahah let’s look at the positives - we have lots of great books waiting for us!
I've read some of those. I happen to very much like Nathenial Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter, in particular the way he develops an alter ego to narrate the story. That does sound interesting- definitely excited to get round to it at some point!
i have so many amazing things about toni morrison, beloved is on my tbr for sure
I’ve heard such good things!
I have 69 books on my physical TBR! I downloaded the 'spin the wheel' app to help me lessen the number, hopefully 😂
Ooh I’m going to look that up! Thank you

I’ve only heard good things about it!

26:14 Salem’s Lot also has a movie. It’s very 1970s.
Per the Classics... Read Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon as it is not as bleak as Beloved. It still has deep themes, and I think it is better, in my top 10. I highly, highly recommend it. Your subconscious was telling you that romance shelf is forgettable!😂
Hahaha romance is fun, but you’re right, sometimes out of sight out of mind!

Although I owned it, reading it wasn’t really on my radar until House of the Dragon came out and totally changed my mind haha!
@@ciarascorner i bought the book right after the show ended 🤣, and now im super excited for season 2 👍❤️
A Walk to Remember is also a film with Mandy Moore and Shane West.
Ooh interesting
Please do a readig vlog for cleopatra and Frankenstein
I definitely will!
Hi ! I really like your accent, it's different from other accents I've heard. Where are you from ? Or is it just the way you speak, because it's very "chic" (it's the best way I can describe it), like a noblewoman. Thank you
Hahaha I’m from Leeds which is in West Yorkshire in England - don’t think the leeds accent has ever been described as chic before haha

My physical TBR is about 190 books....
The way I look at it, that just means you have lots of great choices for your next read!
just think, rory gilmore reads loads so (when you can) you should too ;)
Hahha it definitely must be easier to read lots when you’re a fictional character😂
i think you'll like cleo and frank but i don't see the a little life comparison at all. it's like sally rooney with richer, brighter dialogue and characters.
I think it will have to be my next read as I can’t wait to get into it! Big Sally Rooney fan here so that comparison sounds great!

sorry, what?
