Hi Ali, really enjoyed your last 3 foodie videos and they gave me plenty of ideas. I did my shopping today in TESCO and it came to £102, but that is considering it is for 2 people and it will last us for the next 2 weeks in main meals. I followed your suggestion getting some extras for December and dry goods to draw from when needed. It bugged me that, due to tiredness or being poorly I overspent on Farm cooked meals that I could have done much cheaper so…onwards and upwards batch cooking and freezer here I come! 😊
Well done on the batch cooking front! I’m sure it’s very comforting to know you have all those meals stored away. Instead of meat loaf, I make a nut loaf and freeze it in slices, plus big batches of curry, chilli, lasagne etc and freeze them in meal size portions. Makes life so much easier when you have no time to cook from scratch.
I did a veggie cooking class once and the lady made the most amazingly delicious nut roast, with cashews and mushrooms. By the time I went to make it myself I’d lost the recipe and I still regret it to this day…😔
Wow that’s a great stretch of the meat for 20 meals 👏👏👏. Love seeing ashettes being used still. I had to order one from the UK then I found a beautiful big red one in a charity shop! I live a good homemade steak pie, especially on New Year’s Day. Have a great weekend.
I change the carb and veg parts so it's not really the same dishes. Plus I have other stuff like chicken in my 2 freezers and staples in the storecupboard. I also eat a lot of veggie meals so I have lots of variety :-)
@@aliliveswellonless sounds great, having a variety is good for health, especially fruits and veggie. Glad to hear you are having those as well and not just meat and dough balls
@@aliliveswellonless Thanks- already checked it out, and am considering tweaks to make it even more appealing to my daughter (autistic and SLD, so new foods have to be 'acceptable' to her)
Brilliant Ali! This is exactly how I cook but I dont spend a day batch cooking. So if we have meat loaf for a meal- I will just freeze the other 4 portions, for example. Therefore I have 2 ' ready meals' in the freezer for the CBA days! 😂
Hi Ali, would you mind sharing the model of your slow cooker please. I’m thinking of investing but rather like the crock pot types which can go on the ring / hob as an alternative. Thanks in advance 😊
Thanks! It was a gift from my now DIL a few years ago when I kept my own chickens. It's from Next. I can get 15 eggs in there. They don't have this one any more but they have others :-)
Are the dough balls same as dumplings? Dumplings i rarely have but do enjoy. I use green lentils, which i actually like away, to bulk out mince and literally no one notices.
Sorry I honestly am not being rude but I do chuckle when watching you. You still talk like a school teacher lol. I have been batch cooking as well. Makes life eeasier
That’s why the channel is so good! Clear explanation, humour, honesty. Teaching is a performance after all! Got to keep children engaged! Lots of teachers and nurses in my family and teachers much more interesting!
Ali I went to look for the meatloaf recipe on the blog page. But alas canny find it. Could you possibly post that as well? Pleassssseeee…ps what did you make of the Lidl Worcestershire sauce??
The 'recipe' is under the picture of the sliced up meatloaf. It's not really a recipe but the ingredients are 500g minced beef, 1 grated carrot, 1 chopped onion, 2 rashers cooked bacon diced, 1 egg, 1/2 cup oats and a really good splash of Worcestershire sauce. Just mix well and put in 2lb loaf tin. Oven 180C and bake for about 40 mins. Hope that helps :-)
Inspiring, will start today..thank you.
I also batch cook as its just i tend to put mine into freezer bags as it saves space

Hi Ali! Please can you give us a demo of how you make your doughballs? I’d love to try that too! Thank you! 🙏

Hi Ali, what a wonderful selection of meals you have there besides the chicken when you have stripped it.❤️❤️
I love a nice nut roast but have never tried freezing. Thanks for the idea.
What’s the best nut loaf? 😊
You’re so inspiring with how you stretch your food. Im getting lots of ideas.
Loving the bonus vids! Thanks
Great job, Ali! Love the bonus videos!
Lovely! So many great ideas, thank you!

Having the same dish for two months would make me very sorry for myself, hence I am in awe of your positivity and ability to "live well"

@@aliliveswellonless i could eat those everynight im from belfast and love spuds and anything with gravy 😂 x
Wow- what a lot of meals you got out of that haul! Really interested in the meatloaf recipe- it looked great!
I've also got 7 portions of plain roasted chicken in the freezer plus chicken stock. Meatloaf recipe is on the blog :-)

You're well ahead - great meal prep!

I do that too as I have many CBA days!!! I was feeling motivated this week as I really really want to avoid the supermarkets next month!

Mine is just a basic Crockpot. It's ancient! And it doesn't go on the hob. I didn't know there was such a thing :-)
Well done Ali, some great meals to keep you well fed.
I’ve never frozen dough balls, just wondered if they froze well.
Best wishes A
Yes they do. Not as good as when freshly made but covered in gravy they're fine
Well done Ali.
💕😀xx I love your egg house!🥰

Yes dough balls are dumplings in Scotland! I keep forgetting other parts of the UK and the world call things by different names :-)
I need to do some batch coming, too. Saves so much time and packaging. Interested that you can dumplings dough balls. Is that a Scottish thing?
Ooo it might be. I've never thought about it before. Growing up my gran called them dough balls so I always do :-)
The doughballs look like dumplings.
Yep my doughballs are dumplings, not the pizza style dough balls. Might be a Scottish thing :-)
@@aliliveswellonlessyes we call them doughballs in Scotland but they’re called dumplings in England. I don’t like them either way 😂
Where do I find your blog please? Love how you stretch things.
It's always linked in the description under the video if I've put info on there aliliveswellonless.blogspot.com/
Thanks Ali, great idea, prepping and freezing all those meals.

Lol! I can't help it when I'm explaining how to do something. Once a teacher always a teacher I guess!! :-)

That is quite a lot
Can I ask where u got your containers from?
I got them on Amazon a few years ago. They've held up well. Just put microwave storage containers with vent into their search thingy
@aliliveswellonless thank you for getting back to me I will look into to that .
Please share recipe for meatloaf
It's on the blog now :-)
Well done Ali!
