It’s a small world when you are watching rock hounding videos and find one of your high school teachers from 10 years ago has a TH-cam channel. Keep up the great content Mr. Hurd! PS, Still have my Helmet and Shield.
“The key to trading success is emotional discipline. If intelligence were the key, there would be a lot more people making money trading… I know this will sound like a cliche, but the single most important reason that people lose money in the financial markets is that they don’t cut their losses short.”
Dan, your editting, energy, and just whole vibe behind your videos make me so happy, especially in your intro - your vibe just makes me and i'm sure hundreds of other people stoked to go about life man , and youve done more than earn my subscription bro. Cheers o7
Dan! This channel is incredible. I have never had much of a interest in prospecting. However the way you teach is really awesome!! So grateful that I have the opportunity to watch and learn things from folks I never would have ran into otherwise. Thank you so much. Stay safe - Cheers!
There is nothing more beautiful than the BC wilderness. Dan always has fun exploring with his pack mule friends 😃 and giving us a good geology lesson in the process.
☑️ I couldn't agree more! The "BC" (Bayonne & Camden) regions of New Jersey are just FILLED with natural beauty! I've been searching for lost mountain mines in the Camden area for years, although I still haven't located any mines(or mountains)..... 😁 Seriously though, I wish we had more of ^these sort of attractions here in the Delaware valley area
My first Dan Hurd comment. Dan Hurd happy guy contagious smile real fun to watch world needs more happy people like him. I'm finding myself binge watching and thoroughly enjoying every minute. Thanks a bunch.
@Dan Hurd you are a joy to watch! Your attitude every video is so wonderful. Makes me laugh and smile just seeing how nice, happy and positive you are!!!!!
We just bought a claim up in warren, idaho with 12 old gold mines and watching your videos has helped so much. My grandpa is the miner of the family but there’s still a lot we don’t know. Thanks for all your videos!
I've been watching your videos, Dan, for quite a while now, this is the first time I've made a comment. I love your vids and look forward to every new one you put out. please accept my best wishes to you and the family.
The real gold and silver was the beauty that was all around you! Gold and silver, come and go... But the memories of the natural beauty around you, will be a keepsake you take with you all the rest of your days!
I wish I could stand on the top of your claim and enjoy that breathtaking view. You are a lucky man being able to enjoy your passion with your son too!
I think I have watched at least 50 of your videos and this is the first time I have commented. You are so good at explaining things and it so makes sense. I love the goof ups and how you show it as it is in reality. keep making awesome videos
Your love of prospecting is evident though out your videos. Keep up the work and pass on your passion to your children. A great hobby or part time adventure.
Lots of work put into those shafts-- mines. You have to be real careful where you walk. Just starting to watch your wonderful adventures, learning from a experiencent person. Thanks, Looking forward to the next one
Thanks Dan. As I watch I am always reminded of my rock hound mother. She would have packed the station wagon by now and headed to Canada. Your a gem, Dan. Thanks again
I subscribed to your channel a few days ago and have always had an interest in panning and prospecting for gold and would like to thank you for such an informative and educational series you have Very Entertaining
That was the most interesting video for a while! Not that the others were boring - I'd have stopped watching if they were - but I learned a few things today that I had no idea I wanted to know about. It's no accident that you're a teacher Dan!
For those of us who are newer to your channel.... what would be really cool is a geology/rockhound 101 video, describing some of the basics about rock formations and how minerals come to be located in certain areas.
Hi Fellow Treasure hunter... Love you're vlogs. Exstreamely entertaining and educational. Showing my fellow hunters some much deserved love all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦. Keep them comming mate.
Exploring those old mines looks like a lot of fun I will be keeping my eye open on my claim. And oh by the way I finally got a Garrett super sluice. What an amazing pan. Super strong love the shape of the riffles. Can't wait to use it. Have a great day Dan another great video
Thank you for sharing your video, the scenery is awesome, good luck on the new mine. Hope you’re doing ok with your health and are staying safe and well from this pandemic. All the best to you and your family 🤞🤞🤞🤞🍀🍀🍀🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🇦🇺
That was really neat to see the view through the microscope. I was wondering how you get your gold or silver, or whatever you are hunting for, dry at the end. Do you pit it in an oven? I do know that a blow dryer does not work...my carpet is currently worth more then it used to be...
Dan reminds me of the gold prospector in the old Christmas cartoon movie of Rudolf the red nose reindeer! I love your podcasts. I'm a rock nut too and gold puts a cherry on rock hounding!
Very interesting Dan, around where I live there are several shafts and adits some dating back to Roman workings. They mainly found lead and some silver. After watching this I will be looking out for more.
Man, i love this! I may be new but I'm not giving up! Thanks dan, for sharing all your valuable knowledge :) this stuff is so exciting! Have lots to learn, and have lots of fun while gaining this experience!
You are such an awesome guy dan. Hope to meet you someday and have some fun finding some gold or whatever. You have such a great spirit and a joy to watch. Thank you for the viddies and glad you are doing much better. Take care dan the man! From Redding California! We have great gold here if your ever interested in coming this way I'll show you around my friend.
Gabbro isn't "like a form of granite", btw. Gabbro is an ultramafic rock, while granite is silicic. Composition also differs significantly. Gabbro contains Olivine, granites normally consist of biotite/quartz/feldspar. Granite typically forms in the continental crust in batholiths or other intrusions. Gabbro is typically formed in ophiolite sequences in the oceanic crust at Mid Ocean Ridges.
Yeah, that's the same thing i commented. The rock dums are for lesser samples that the original miners didn't think were worth processing, they kept all the good stuff they took out already, so dan needs to get samples from the inside the mines to get a genuine reflection of what's in the highest quality samples there.
It is very hard for me to definitively decide which comes first. Listening to your amazing, fascinating and packed to the rim ,videos- or the breathtaking scenery you are blessed to be surrounded in... Just magnificent!! 👍🙏🏻
That was cool! Thanks for taking us along! I really enjoy how you keep it real. Sure you found 7 chunks of gold... even if only 1000 mesh. None of this “we pulled 100 oz nugget from the mud (with gold paint on their fingernails)” garbage I always find in my recommendations. Lots of people dream of leaving the rat race and mining for gold, but you have shown that even though it’s possible, it’s not guaranteed nor will it be easy. Cheers Dan!
Holi cow Dan, I just saw you on free to air Australian TV! You were on the Fraser doing some panning and showing us a view of two Canadian railway bridges. The show is called The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys. Nicely done sir!
I enjoy all your videos but my favorites are when you are exploring new claims and doing your research. Really enjoy meeting your friends too, they all seem like pretty awesome humans. Thank you for sharing. Angry Old HIppie Hermit Peace.
Wish my father was still alive , I’d almost Guarantee he’d be a viewer big time of you Dan , and maybe a few more but if TH-cam was as good as it is today back then he would of loved watching. Today was actually his birthday 🎁
Hi Dan ! Just adding a comment because.... why not ?!?!? Exploring those adits ( addits ? ) looks like a lot of fun ! Looking forward to any smelting videos you might make for this claim in the future.
Great videos Dan, I’ve never panned for gold but I’d really love to try. I live in Kamloops and actually saw you on the highway the other day just after Kamloops headed east. Keep the videos coming

Super cool story man
I was hoping he was a teacher. Glad his kids are interested. Dan definitely reminds me of some of my favorite teachers.
Hopefully he sees this
He wasn't my teacher but I saw him around school too lul
So I'm guessing Dan is a science teacher.
I keep on asking myself what i would have done in this world without you. Thank you so much for the help.

Dan, Your videos make me want to add BC to my bucket list. Your passion for nature and rock hounding are infectious.
Ive always wanted to see a gold prospector(who really knows there stuff) explore old gold and silver mines to see what they can find! Awesome stuff!
Is this the most wholesome person on the planet?
The real gold and silver was the beauty that was all around you!
Gold and silver, come and go... But the memories of the natural beauty around you, will be a keepsake you take with you all the rest of your days!
Agreed!
Thanks!
We love watching your videos! Thanks so much for taking us along. We are hoping to get back out soon and do some prospecting.

Don't forget Dan your collecting out of the mine dump .your collecting what the could not see when they where mining.
I can't tell if his hat is Indiana Jones or Freddy Kreuger...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣But the shirt says Freddy Kreuger..😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Since what you took was on the mine dump it is very possible that the ore they kept and processed was far richer than the samples you took from the dump.
The mineral files on this mine were all done from the mine dump. That is why I went there for my sample.
