    I just purchased my first home and this noise was so loud. Because of your video I flipped the grill 180 and noise is completely gone!!! Thank you so much!

    I LOVE that sound!!! I could fall asleep to that sound! It sounds like a CT Scanner, and I LOVE getting my CT Scans!

      Well I guess that’s a good thing. 🙂

    Thank you! This worked. The other video i watched said to install a larger or additional air return. This was slightly cheaper!!

      Appreciate that. It’s always worked for us. ⭐️😎

    Simple, but effective. We always just cracked our door to the AC unit. I bent up about half of the fins and the noise is gone. Thank you for this!

    Just a tip, in the trade we paint the inside of the can black and you won’t see the sheet metal

    I love these little tricks that I wouldn’t have thought of myself to solve irritating problems around the house. On a side note, do you mind telling us the brand of that handy little lighted screwdriver?

    Did you put a filter in this HVAC Air Return? If you did not, you should, because that would also probably fix that noisy HVAC Air Return. 😊

    • @diycollaborative

      We did not on this one. HVAC tech advised it wasn’t needed here, due to one after this one at the unit. Might try some time though. Thank you. 🙏

    I'm confused. Why did you turn the vent around. Would I do the same for my wall vent?

    • @diycollaborative
      @diycollaborative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In our case it was so you wouldn’t be able to look up into the vent from in front of it. The front of the vent faces a kitchen counter with four chairs. While sitting at the counter you could look up and see all the way to the inside of the vent tubing. Yours may not be that way but we showed it just in case. I hope this helps.

    Why does my vent make this noise only when my ac is running, but not when the heater is running?

    • @diycollaborative
      @diycollaborative  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s interesting. You might want to consult a professional. You may have something else going on.

      The unit should be set up for a higher fan speed (cfm) on AC than heat. There is a way to change that on the circuit board but varies by brand.

    • @SC_RC1478
      @SC_RC1478 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffflowers729 that could be it!

    Can you also put a filter in there to?

    • @diycollaborative
      @diycollaborative  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some have them here. This unit has one in the attic at the main unit.

    Any chance the turbulence is stemming from too little cfm of return air? I know my return air is way too small, and I'm going to increase the opening/duct on my main level for improved overall operation. Oddly, it only makes noise like yours with the furnace on, never the ac. Maybe I'm just hearing my burners roaring through the ducts?

    • @diycollaborative
      @diycollaborative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could be the case. If only when heat is on and not AC, I suspect it’s burner noise. Can you lay your hand on the grill while heat is on to see it it stops? If the grill is vibrating that should at least change the pitch.

    I've got one like that. You can just push on it and change the tone. The vent is crap.
