Watching the Terran counter the mutas with the wraiths is so epic.. micro from both units .. so much more fun to watch them marines and medics stimming around trying to counter.. such a great game
Just a little nerd-up: some units in the game may look like they're dual-shots, but they actually are not. Wraith is one of them, their damage counts as a single shot, so the carapace armor really does reduce the damage by only 1, and is not as effective as it may seem.
Are you talking about their AA missiles looking like 2 shots?
The laser looks like a single shot I think. Had never really considered that it looks like 2 but good to know that it isn't anyway 😅
@@Broockle I was talking about the AA missiles. You know from Zealots that their damage get's reduced by two for every one armor the target has, because their damage-output is split between their two armblades.
The wraith shoots two missiles, but the damage does not get split up here, it counts as a single projectile for armor.
@@STORMCALLER.
Is there even another unit that double attacks like a zealot?
In SC2 there was the marauder for like a month until they changed that again.
@@Broockle Yes there is - Scouts AA and Goliaths AA missiles are both 2 shots attacks, similar to the Zealot and they get reduced by x2 times the armor of the target, not taking into account unit armor types and splash damage radii. Those are the 3 units in the game, whom attacks count as a double shots. For example: A Goliath's ground attack is named twin auto cannons, but it is considered a single attack for the damage calculations.
This is correct. Wraith aa missiles are always 1 hit.
Firebat is the funniest unit in terms of the number of hits, although game says 16 damage, it actually do 8x3 but that third hit do not hit small target right in front of it, units with larger hitbox like hydralisk do take 3 hits. So they deal 16 damage to zergling in a single attack, but 12 damage (8*3*50%) to hydralisk, or 10.5 damage (7*3*50%) to lurker. If a zergling takes the attack at slightly further than melee range, it can actually take 24 damage.
Crazy to think that when I got into the game, people were calling Fantasy weird for his vulture valk builds. Now the concept is standard for both games and no one even speaks the mans name.
those who make history wont be acknowledged in their time
TvZ is my favorite match up. Love how bishop perfectly timed the switch to his natural after depleting his main. Excellent play
GG, Dewalt wins this too somehow
LOVE this. so much more fun when terran is pushing zerg and makes the zerg work for it. 2 base vs 1 base. great stuff
god damn i love me some TvZ dogfighting
ZvZ muta battles are kinda boring because it's a mirror and corsair/valkyrie vs mutas are too one-sided.
What a game! I'm so excited to see wraiths used. I didn't know they have a chance against glaves! I wonder what would've happened if Bishop went for 1 ship's armor. Would it help mitigate glave damage by much? I mean some engagements wraiths used cloak so only glaives hit the cloaked wraiths.
I'd say this is the absolute best time to get optical flare for medics. It's a lot easier to use flare on the overlords than kill them with the wraith/marines. Even a zerg that sends 6 overlords could easily be shut down.
When glaives bounce they don’t hit cloaked units if a unit is cloaked they’ll only take one glaive and not the others that bounce off
@@xxXKogasaWe3dL0rd420Xxx Really? Glaves ignore stealth units? How much damage does bouncing glave does to uncloaked wraith?
@@Ziegfried82 Might be the best time for it but isn't, building turrets and teching to irradiate just much better? Cost seems similar and vessels scale so much better
@@blacklight4720, glaves ignore stealth units as long as they are undetected.
What ended up happening with the tie for 2nd in Ascension?
They split the money. There was no tiebreaker
why nobody upgrades mutalisks into guardians? they would have destroyed those tanks.
the defender become the agresor with wraiths, because he was mining on one base he could easily defend a drop, and he even placed a bunker before pushing to not get coutnerattacked, most complex game and player i ever seen
Wraith openers used to be more popular, glad to see them come back. VERY strong vs zergs that don't spore up.
dude bishop strategy incredibly mixed, wraith, marines and doctors, and then what, upgrades to TANKS, but wait its not over yet, RADIATES
Love this Terran play, using Wraiths and ScienceVessels against Mutas.
So many Terrans just go Medic Marine vs Mutas which isn't as interesting to watch imho.
super match
This was an awesome game, very interesting play by both sides.
Wouldn't Ship Armor be good for wraith against mutalisk? Negate the glaive damage.
Why not use Ensnare on Wraiths?
pro's can dodge ensnare, you might catch them sometimes but mostly you're just gonna get your queen popped
Because soulkey lost ASL like that... No Zerg player ever will go ensnare against wraiths after watching that game ...
Interesting that a more dangerous ability «Plague» is instant while «Ensnare» is a projectile.
The way regen works is basically what Artosis said in practice, but technically it's a bit different. Every tick, zerg units recover HP unless full, and protoss units recover shields unless full. So it's not instant, it takes one tick (42 ms on fastest speed) in either case. The thing is, if a protoss unit has less than 1 full point of shields, then the next time it takes damage, shields are bypassed completely. Those shields aren't lost, they just get ignored and HP is lost instead. So for instance, if a vulture fires at a probe twice, then the first shot will wipe away all the probe's shields, and it will regenerate shields every tick starting on the next one. But shields don't regenerate that fast (just 7/256 shields per tick), so when the vulture hits it again, the probe still has
From more sc2-ing and just playing terran since remastered, the factory open feels more natural.
im not a pro player but i think if Fengzi just went all in with mutas alone just make 36 mutas w 2/2 or 3/3 and finish the terran before he can expand. wouldve liked to see 36 mutas attack 20 rines and 11 wraiths lol T wouldve been dead if so
So i played SC back in school, was never good at it. That is to say that i know nothing about the game. That being said i was watching a match the other day where protos used mass carriers while terran went in to tanks&goliaths. Terran's economy was pretty good but his goliaths could never catch the carriers and could only zone them off while loosing tons of those units. He eventually lost to the carriers after they hit a critical mass. And that whole game i was thinking - why wouldn't he switch to wraiths?? They fly, they stack, they could be invisible and they do about the same dmg against air as goliaths... so wouldn't they be perfect to counter mass carriers? But for some reason i don't rly see wraiths at this level of play... Even if it looks like it would make perfect sense to make them. So why is that?
Personally i am a big simp of wraiths. I love their visual design and i loved to combine them with tanks.
Artosis you really need to watch the minimap more. There's literally nothing else except the harras happening at 3:40 which even kills drones and we're just zooming on a starport...
And then you see the guys in the chat complaining how RT is on 2 bases at 17 mins and yet this guy is getting his 2nd base at 17 Kappa ArtoFat
We did enjoy the tournament, thanks. Looking forward to this series
Can't you just optical flare the overlords here?
The wraith dance was beautiful!
I thought the best anti air was the missle turret?
Can u cast some great games with Flash?
this is why RT needs to go mass wraiths now
Bishop just toyed with Fengzi
Bishop's play was downright inspiring here. The Wraith usage is just so thrilling to watch.
do interceptors have double shot so being reduced double by armor?
No
Fengzi HYPE!! come on!!!!
Bishop leads one... oh...
Love this game. First of all, it is not one sided, both players are playing with their best effort. A few harassment on both sides. It is an exciting game. Thank you Artosis for bringing such a great game!
Would of loved to see what the outcome would of been if Fengzi went for the full surround while Bishop was still outside the natural.
it's good when it's a TvZ series because no matter who wins or loses there will always be wonderful salt to mine in the comments before too long :)
I'm pretty sure that's all the match ups except maybe the mirrors.
Love seeing Zerg crushed
great CAST. really easy to understand and lots of knowledge . very cool
GG!
gg
What would happen if we changed sc1 to start with 6 workers?
6 pool would become a thing
@oldscoolest would anything actually change though? Since the others can also defend faster?
I'm SO EXCITED FROM THIS THUMBNAIL
My favorite BW match all times. What a game!
Hydra lurker is not effective against bio.
stacked lurkers are death
@@valentinomanontroppo4675 where are they here?
lov u
Wow interesting game. Very entertaining
Wow that was exciting!
wow, what a game!
Very cool game.
Great game
Wrights!
Hi artosis its my birthday today
Happy Birthday!
Happy one more year older
Thank you!
such an amazing player, hes definitely my fav of all time now, this guys knows the real strategy of terran against they natural enemies alliens ,and order of everything, ON ONE BASE DUDE, ONE BASE MINING
How old is this game?
love u artosis
Sp anything inside a defiler swarm is protected by ranged, but are the ranged attacks of Zerg in their own swarm work against the outside?
Ranged units can attack out of the swarm. So putting hydras inside dark-swarm to take out BC's is like... gold lol.
@@skyvipers ah ok just making sure. I thought of mass hydras and some lurks with like 2 Defilers with Swarm would be insane just making sure it worked that way
@@PULAG Yeah hydra / lurker under dark-swarm is more powerful than nukes lol
Yeah
The Dark Swarm only protects the units that are under it (friend and foe).
If there are ranged units under the swarm, it is possible for them to attack any units outside the dark swarm or flying units.
zerg player should be in bronze league, not anywhere close to terran player's skill level. it doesn't look like zerg player understands how muta harass works - you dont trade 2 mutas for 1 scv. he was diving on scvs with uncloaked wraiths between his mutas and the scvs
Please dont talk like you know anything...
@Major Mononoke it's a long standing tradition to pretend to be better then pros in the comment section.
That zerg is not a bronze league, could crush most diamond league players if we are using SC2 terminology.
@@majormononoke8958 i know zerg player got CRUSHED in this replay!
