QUEDADA 2013 - Seminario Joaquín Marcelo

El primer día de cursillo Joaquin dió una pequeña charla sobre los estereotipos erróneamente enseñados en las típicas clases de defensa personal. Se enfatizó el correcto uso del footwork y el juicio de la distancia, tomando en consideración que el adecuado control de estos dos factores puede constituir la mejor herramienta de auto-defensa sin armas.
Se analizaron las formas de realizar unos pocos golpes básicos desde una posición neutra, aplicando la máxima economía de movimiento y uso de la propia mecánica corporal para dotar al golpe de la necesaria potencia.
El segundo día, puso un gran empeño en que la gente desterrara mitos enseñados desde siempre en las clases de defensa personal, como desarmar a un adversario armado con un cuchillo, etc...

The first day of the seminar Joaquín gave a little talk about the stereotypes wrongly taught in the typical classes of self defense. He outlined the correct use of footwork and the judgment of distance, insisting on the fact that the adequate control of both of these factors can be the best tool for self-defense without weapons.
He analysed the ways to perform a few basic strikes from a neutral position, applying the maximum economy of motion and the use of the own body mechanics to provide the necessary power hit.
The second day, he put great effort in people to banish myths always taught in self-defense classes, such as disarming an opponent armed with a knife, etc...

I always analyze the movement of the students to judge the quality of 'JKD' being taught. The video showed a lot of good movements from the students in varying levels. This can only mean that they are getting quality instruction in an environment that promotes excellence. I wish there's a gym and instructor like this in Sydney, Australia.

Joaquin Marcello is an excellent instructor. I've had the pleasure of meeting him and attended a training seminar with him in Sept 2016. Indeed, footwork, economy of motion were high on the agenda.

Amazing guys! Just more combination work in your Videos. Although the straight line is the metric of JKD, angles are important for all variations of geometric physiology.
