Politics at the Olympia is quite common, like Yates and El Sonbaty, or Hadi and Derek. Even during Pumping Iron there were attempts to keep Serge Nubret from competing. Mentzer ultimately should've handled the situation like Hadi and use it to try and come back even better, not fly off the handle and quit.

Lou was awesome in his 1992 comeback! In 1993 he was bigger but his midsection had thickened. It's a shame his best years were lost to "The Hulk" TV series!! He could have been a dominant champ after Arnold, but obviously he made way more money playing the Hulk!!
Mike Mentzer nearly defeated Frank Zane in the 1979 Mr Olympia. In 1980 Frank was only 85% of himself after the accident and Mike was at least 10 to 15% better than the previous year. He looked amazing and was peeled and muscular and had worked so hard. How could Zane have placed above him? How could Arnold with those skinny legs and a physique that was 20 pounds lighter than his previous Olympia and who refused to do mandatory poses and even had Franco come on stage, wiping him down with a towel. Not to mention a full film crew shooting this documentary on him. Arnold went into business for himself and regardless of what you think he should’ve won or not it was a very selfish thing and he set bodybuilding back for many years. The decision was so obvious that CBS decided not to air the program because it was so blatantly, horrible. Not to mention his buddy Franco came in 1981 looking terrible with gyno and zero definition in his injured legs. And they gave him 1st place. No wonder Mike retired in disgust.
