Rainbow Salad I've seen it and listen to it regularly. Yes its remarkable, especially considering he wasn't even formally trained. But the difference between Forbidden Zone and say The Wolfman is huge isn't it?
Just saw an interview with him and Anthony Mason this morning. His whole career was stunning to him, but he went on to become one of the most prolific sound trackers of all time. Thank you Tim Burton for getting him started. TRIVIA....He is a Fonda....Married to Bridget Fonda!
...we should all be so lucky to claim this masterpiece as our best. Danny kinda did do ok after this though. I mean he did make the Batman theme song. And Beetlejuice. And...
Is there honestly anyone sexier than Danny Elfman in the 1980s? I hear this music and I want to cry, the energy of the whole band in this era is so beautiful and I wasn’t even born yet when it was happening.
Great story - I met Danny Elfman in 1982 at Licorice Pizza in La Mesa, CA (an inland suburb of San Diego). Oingo was there promoting a new 45 single of theirs and I had no idea who they were. I went over and they not only gave me a 45, they all signed it! Danny was super cool and so were the rest of them. I have no idea what happened to that 45, but I wish I still had it. Later they would explode in popularity, so it was a cool ‘80s story.
Who knew Danny Elfman would become such a creative composer for movie soundtracks? Every soundtrack is different but somehow he has a signature sound...if it’s off-kilter or weird, it must be Danny! LOL.
I grew up a metal head, am now a middle aged metal head, and will be a metal head until the day I die, but Dead Man's Party has always been in my top ten all time favorite songs. It's just good old fashioned right in your face fun. Not to mention, it's makes a really good metal cover, so there's that as well.
There’s another version of this song done in the last couple of years. Several commenters say they want THIS song played at their funeral! I agree. I don’t want people crying and moping around. I want them to have a party and be laughing and smiling!
2021, quarentena total e estou aqui com saudades desta banda fantástica. A variedade de Danny é incrível. Um grande cantor, compositor de rock e uma das melhores vozes por aí.
Hello for All I wanted let know Great Performance Of The " Danny Eifman Of The Oingo Boingo I Like So Much Of All Songs The Oingo Boingo special Performance Of The Danny Eifman So Cool 😊
I heard this during this years Halloween Party at Disney. My boyfriend and I were over by the pirates ride enjoying a cold beverage and it came on the pirates radio station. I had to hear more! Pretty cool that it’s Danny Elfman.
I just learned the lead singer "Danny Elfman" is the SAME DANNY ELFMAN who did the music for The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Desperate Housewives, and dozens more! That guy has more talent than a legitimately elected politician who never lies! Mind = Blown
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this performance was sponsored by cocaine. Either way, to command a band this large and sound identical to the recording is super impressive. Wish I had been at this show.
Since you seem like an expert, do you have to know if the woman who introduced them was anyone specific or notable? I have a theory, but it might just be a coincidence. Love your uploads.
She’s Donna Donna, who was a DJ from the New York radio station WLIR at the time. (I guess they collaborated with MTV on it?) You can hear the full audio of the WLIR broadcast of this show here: th-cam.com/video/dNCK85emFUw/w-d-xo.html

It's so nuts to consider this man became one of my favorite film composers ever! Starting as basically a new wave art rocker
Dig back deeper, he scored his brother Richard Elfman's film Forbidden Zone as The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo

Nah the best part is the unborn devolpment
@@flippy101mph9 Do you mean the poster boy for birth control?
Back then I couldn’t have imagined Danny Elfman older, now this seems bizarre to see him young.
...I guess that applies to myself as well.
I love the energy of this version, the drums are much more prominent and it feels almost like a march. The funk is real

I used go to the Licorice Pizza in Huntington Beach, CA back in the early eighties. Great times and memories.
@@daveland3183Totally, especially that area at that time.
lived La Mesa and El Cajon in the 80's while in the Navy, best city at that time. love from Long Island!

You know it's the 80's by the use of the Roland AX-1 Keytar! Even with that, the music is absolutely timeless, still great all these years later.
And how could I have missed the Roland JC-40? Absolutely wonderful amp.
Was he using that keytar to play the bass?

Still listen to this song 🎶

This is the best version of the song.
This is STILL such a cool song, as was the movie......so so addictive to watch and listen to.
Good old Days. Miss it so much!
At that time who would have known that Danny would become one of the greatest film composers of all time!

The callout for one more measure... you know he's in the zone.
So much talent on that stage
Such an underrated band

I keep rewatching this video and I swear I find something new to marvel at every single time.
This is Amazing, i love it
Recently found this song since Halloween since I someone was playing it, and if I was live and this was played, I would be singing along.

Here we go for Oingo Boingo!
The BYU Math, Science and Chess Clubs got together and formed Oingo Boingo and invited their professors to help. One of a Kind MAGIC!

Not Steve Bartek, but another later guitar player for Boingo built me a Geek Screamer OD guitar pedal that I still us to this day.

That's perfectly fine John. Use that!
Eugene Levy on the keytar is fantastic!
Aah man, i was looking for this comment for a while, I really get the Eugene Levy reference ther.
Awesome dude.
Can i give more than 100 likes for you?
I almost peed myself when you brought up the Gene levy on keytar. I totally saw it.
A wicked synth-bass player (whoever he is)
Such a great band to party to/with. Danny was a lil on the wild side but great talent to put together such a large group and incredible arrangements.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this performance was sponsored by cocaine. Either way, to command a band this large and sound identical to the recording is super impressive. Wish I had been at this show.
@@VENZUL0 Yes sir! The only other band that could pull that off live with so many people and soumd amazing was the Talking Heads.

This whole thing is awesome. But I just noticed how filthy that bass line and bass tone is.
Fuckin love it
John Hernandez wore the same shirt in the video.
Love this, but the upped the tempo for the live version.
Anyone here watching for Halloween (or whenever) do yourself a favor after this and watch the cover on the Two Minutes To Late Night channel!
This song Kills me...
Anyone ever see another rock band in which someone played a baritone sax? The size of those instruments is positively bizarre.

I forgot about 'keytars'! Strange times.
Thornton Mellon forever
