Couple of things to mention about MBK. They have a government office there where you can certify marriage certificates etc. And a big shout out to P&P Mobile (C96) on the floor where they sell all the mobiles and repairs. the only place I could find in Bangkok (I went to fortune town as well) willing to attempt to do a repair on my 5G Portable router. Nobody else would touch it, lol. Fixed it for 500 baht. still works fine to this day. If you need something awkward that needs fixed they might be able to help you.

Great video Peter! very informative. I was taken to this multi floor shopping centre about 20 years ago by a friend on my first Thailand trip. Back then it was nearly entirely all electronics and pirated DVDs📀 on every floor. Also thanks for mentioning the DIY store. I wasn’t aware Thailand had a decent discount variety store like this .
I really enjoyed that look about mbk centre brought back good memories I spent many an afternoon in mbk as I was training Muaythai in a gym in the national stadium I stayed in a hotel just across from the train station it’s a nice area there in patumwan 🙏👍🏻

My shirt people are against the wall on 3F, but they move around. If I like what I see, I buy 10 or 15 with a discount. Sometimes they won't have the stock, and they'll need a day. I stay in the Mercure or the Ibis across the road for MBK shopping days - I buy too much for the train. If you are buying leather bags here, check that it is real leather. I was stung. I think you need coins or B20 for the toilets, they're on alternate floors on the car park side. As you say, Peter, weekdays are better. Some merchants have a superstition about the first sale of the day, going early might fetch a lower price.

Brilliant video. I really miss MBK. Before the smartphones, I bought a used Nokia (2000 B), and got it reprogrammed with the Russian menu (500 B), so that I could send SMSes in Russian. It didn't last long as I gave it to an Estonian dancer in Pattaya.
1st stop for me could have been the candy shop. watch how fast your bill can run up to more than $20 USD just grabbing small handfuls of your favorites.
I love going there, 1. For the air on 2. For a bargain 3. Nice bit of food there too. Definitely weekday visit as less crowded but you always end up getting the hard friendly sale. 👍 Haggle friendly but do look around to compare prices. I always found the vendors deep inside are less than the ones you first see funnily enough.

Great video Trev, can I just add of a word advice, about something that happened to me in MBK, please delete if not allowed. But just a quick word about being aware of exactly what you're buying, back in oct last year I bought a sim card from the tech floor, I asked for 3 weeks unlimited, I was told I would have to buy 30 days, ok no problem. I kept checking definitely everything unlimited and definitely 30 days, yes I was told. I paid the amount, which was for 30 days. However 10 days later whilst in Jomtien I ran out of data. So I visited the sim brand shop in Pattaya, but they couldn't help, as the shop that sold it to me wasn't a proper outlet for that brand of sim. So beware everyone double, triple and even quadruple check what you're buying

As far as I know ANY genuine designer/luxury goods in Thailand are crazy expensive.I just buy the clothes in the local shops and markets.Just check the quality carefully.I've been buying clothes there for years,just don't waste my time or money on genuine.I buy that at home cheaper.
As I said in the upload I can't buy regular clothes that fit me from the local markets here in Thailand or the mall shops and as I'm not returning to the UK my only option is to buy what fits me on a side note I've never seen good copy Rolex watches in any clothes shop in the UK 🤣
I don't agree with that, I would love to purchase a brand new Rolex, but can't afford to do that right now. The one I bought, I'm very happy with. It looks real. I tested my Rolex, which is a Sea dweller, against all of there best sure they could look the same or close, but when I unscrewed the crown and pulled out the stem for manual winding there is a big difference, same as a honda engine to a Mercedes, once you have wound it and set the time a few thousand times like I have, I do know a fake from a real one, it was a good experience to test though, great mall though, I compared the fake Rimova suitcases to the real, they have 3 levels of copy quality and even the highest the suitcases still will not glide the same as the real ones. cheers

Good video Peter. I enjoyed the walk through the store. I actually thought MBK Center was better pre covid. It was more chaotic and interesting. Felt like a treasure hunt. During covid they refurbished the store and it has become a lot like any other mall - too neat and structured on most floors. Personal preference I guess. I thought the Indian dish you had for 300B was a little steep for a food hall. From memory I was paying less than 150B a meal.
Where is the electronics..hifi setups ...speakers. If you can cover categories in detail would be helpful to many people all over the world...cos lot of people come to Bangkok for shopping
Buying copy brands are passe. Fakes are overpriced. Homage watch is the new trend. Good quality of similar design with Seiko or establish movement mechanism. House brand so its not fake copies. Cheaper too.
For me it's good and bad. Homage watches give the confidence for its quality because it's the house brand you know and trust. But at the same time the copied design always mocks with feeling cheap that is obvious to everyone sees it on your wrist.

If you think MBK is haggling you obviously don't know how to haggle, just asking for best price is not haggling. Most of the vendors sell the same stuff and I am sure they agree on a minimum price, but it is cheap or fake stuff anyway, so who cares if you want to 'haggle' over fake TShirts or fake watches. You are being conned by yourself anyway 😉

5xl is the biggest size they do when you come in from the BTS go right down to the far end left hand corner on the same level

On my last trip last year I came here to try and get my phone unlocked and no one could do it so had to make do with a wi fi gadget, not ideal at all.
That was unfortunate that you didn't get it done because there are a lot of shops in there that can unlock your phone easily
remember to always make a shopping list of what you want buy, otherwise you will end up with a garbage bag of unwanted stuff at end of trip.
Buying the cheaper model rolex is the better one to buy. People don't expect the cheap model to be fake. Diamond platinum always a fake.

A little bit, but mostly fixed prices in the mall.
It's expected to haggle if you don't you'll be paying about 30% more than everyone else

@@ThailandBound MBK is mostly fixed prices and you get discounts for buying 3 or 4 items. If you think MBK is haggling you obviously don't know how to haggle, just asking for best price is not haggling. Most of the vendors sell the same stuff and I am sure they agree on a minimum price, but it is cheap or fake stuff anyway, so who cares if you want to 'haggle' over fake TShirts or fake watches. You are being conned by yourself anyway 😉
