I am so glad you are repairing the Punto to keep it on the road. I love the Mk1's. So rare now though.

Nice - my second car was a Punto 55EX 6speed - a bit of a rarity in the UK - I loved it. Great looking, with a nice interior, and although it didn’t have much power, quite peppy. HGF did for it (it didn’t like the daily commute I put it through everyday), so it was traded in for an Alfa 145. I drove a 75SX a few years later - the extra power made all the difference. Great to see another one saved!

That Punto is in amazing condition I had a little Turbo Diesel Punto in 1996 it was the most economical car I have ever owned it sipped Diesel used to get 65 to 70MPG on the Motorway which saved me a packet on my daily commute from Edinburgh to Dunkeld, I traded it for a Brava Petrol it was a real piece of Junk. Soft spot for these 90s Puntos.

I have an M reg Uno, one of the last to be sold, I believe. The Punto was such a huge step forward and I’d happily own one again except I’d like to stay married! Glad you’re saving it. It looks too good to go.

They really are great cars and the best Punto ever made 🙂.
    .
If you notice ....... they are like old carburettor cars ............. they drive better and worse depending on moisture in the air 🙂

If replacing the complete panel then spot welding is allowed but patches must be seam welded.

Can't really fail that on an mot . Yes it's corroded but it doesn't seriously affect steering suspension or braking . It doest even seriously weaken the structure of the vehicle.

If it’s within 30cm of seat mounting I would fail it.

Never been keen on puntos only the MK1 turbo but they are rare and big money now but to be fair looks clean body wise but people would of scraped it because of the welding as if you can't do it yourself or no someone who can do it for a fair price as garages are expensive but that's wat I've done for 25 years welding and fabrication so I do welding at weekends for extra money but not just for any body as I'm fair but people expect it really cheap and if the job turns out more and you tell them costs more then it's even worse can't be dealing with idiots anymore fun trying to get under the car on axle stands but you did a good job not easy ive seen alot worse mate
