Set aside 3 hours per/day. Think about how good you will be in a year from now! 3 hours is a lot, but that’s over 1,000 hours of practice. That and the 1.5 years you already have will make you pretty capable. Good luck🎸
Bro! Been playing for 30 years and watched many TH-cam videos. Your teaching style is Top Notch! The knowledge of what you are playing is just as valuable as the technique you use while playing. Thank you!
Out of all the guitar instructional videos I watch yours is the one which broke the wall I have been up against for so long. Just yours. You have a gift so... Thank you very much.
This was one of my fav instructional videos for beginners that I've seen in my year of searching for guitar lessons! I love the blues and this was fantastic.
Just bought my first electric guitar at 62. Got an AP 2 Strat. Don't have a clue how to play lead. Want to be David Gilmore B4 I'm dead. What a great place to start. Thanks so much!
I’m 61 in the same boat but I bought a $245 dollar Squire Telecaster. I told myself that if I work hard and start actually playing well I’ll go and get something nice:)
@@MarkandSandieInMotionI tried that then I got an epi les paul then a mim tele then a am pro 2 then…. Now I am settled in with an AVii strat and Gibson LP classic lol
My best advice as a self taught is learn Hendrix I wish I was a catfish and little wing and also learn the Stevie ray versions, Lenny is also a great beginner srv song that impresses me
I am.getting back in the groove on my 🎸 playing and I enjoyed the 10beginners thanks for your usefull hacks.Coming to u from Riverview,FL keep it going bro.
I’m a beginner. The biggest problem I see is ppl always want ‘fast’ and ‘easy’. The ‘diet pill’ mentality:). Once you abandon that bunk and understand it requires persistence and dedication, it becomes more gratifying.
Exactly right! Theres no fast or easy shortcut, its practice an dedication. Ive bn playing for 45 years and still learn something i didnt know on a regular basis.
Please! This is not difficult. So it is, by definition, fast and easy. You just have to “work” a little bit. Maybe get a blister on your thumb, or something.
I'll keep it simple. I like your interest in helping beginners. Thank you. I'll just agree with everyone below. Well done, no extra chatter, just the fact's, Man !! Cheers, Dk.
24:41 ❤ great lesson. I’ll work through them until perfect. Bonus is the theory that comes through. You have a relaxed style of teaching. And humble. One question: which keys are the best/most popular to play blues? My favorite is E.
Just found this channel. Great teacher. Short and to the point. I’m 65, I have been trying to find this kind of teaching . I think you’re spot on. I now I feel like I can actually put these things together and make better music. Thank you.
I've been playing daily since about Christmas and this lesson came up just at the right time. I spent about an hour pickin through all 10 lick in the lesson. I'm really good at the minor pentatonic but i don't have any mojo, just a scale. I got all these licks played fairly easily except #10 but I'll get it. I'm planning on going over this video daily until I get all these licks down pretty good. Thanks!
10:38 Ah, I see why this works. The G triad is the upper three notes of an Em7. So when you bend up a 1/4 tone, you get neutral third (bluesy), neutral seventh (very bluesy), and slightly augmented fifth (filthy).
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have trouble with the way most videos are put together, but this video really gels with me. The only thing i would ask if you wouldnt mind showing us what effects pedals and settings you are using to get your tones/sounds.
I am not really a beginner when it comes to chords etc but I am a noodler. This was a great video to wake up the discipline side! Wish you had made it years ago lol!
Thank you for the slow and detailed break downs especially the explanations of why a particular method works. I am an older player getting back into playing guitar. I'm especially interested in blues methods. Oddly enough I work at the PRS factory in Stevensville Md.
Great video! Playing licks over a 12 bar blues backing track is exactly what I have been working on. I just wish someone would do a video on the proper way to release bends though...
Playing is a skill.Teaching how to play is a very difficult, because so much depends on communication ability of the teacher.I think you are a rare commodity, you teach as well as you play. This is something that makes you complete as a guitarist and a decent person willing to contribute to your fellow musicians,For this you have my deep respect, and thanks!
Yeah nice, this makes me wanna pick up my Fender which i haven't played in ages... relearn /learn some stuff. Black aswell, black pick guard with hot Jeff Beck pickups. Ive just been on a hard rock/metal fix lately with the other guitars but this is cool. Thanks bro👍
Thanks for the video, beginner here looking for "tips and tricks" if you will to pick up moving around the neck faster. One thing I've noticed while watching TH-cam videos of guitarists is whenever they are talking about the strings to play, the fret board is always talked about in the inverse of what is actually being watched. What I mean by that is at the beginning of this video in Lick #1, he is saying to play the "top two strings", but as I am looking directly at the screen, those are the bottom strings being played. Now, if you go to Lick #3, when he is talking about pull-offs and hammer-ons, at about 7:45, he says he is picking the string like he is "flicking his fingernail towards the ground". So, if the top of the fret board is really on the bottom, then how are you flicking towards the ground, which would be the bottom?
You are welcome! I don't remember what I said in the video. But, when describing what string to use and direction, I go by how it sounds (higher towards the high sounding strings and frets and lower towards the low sounding strings and frets). I've had many left handed students and some flip a right handed guitar and some play left handed ones. So, going by how it sounds makes it standard for everyone.
I gave up years ago with my guitar i broke my fingers on my left hand and can't get my fingers to stretch to the strings properly now only really get to use two fingers correct on the guitar sad to let my les paul go😢
I’m a beginner player at age 61. I watch a lot and I mean a lot of guitar playing videos very rarely. Does someone mention how to set the tones on the guitar and set up the amp where you can actually have a similar blue sound.
No so bro start out with two chords and a little lick blended together play 5 minutes a day build finger strength. When you start to get smooth add more. And doing it in bed before you go to sleep soon you will getting it. If this is to advanced learn some major chords then add a bar chord then add some. Search two or three chord songs you like play you're guts out but have fun do it 5 minutes a day soon you can do it with your eyes closed.

Any time you bend a note you need a target note.
David Gilmour: Target notes are for kids 😂😂😂
Can’t do the first lick because my middle finger on G string 13th fret keeps muting the B string on 12th no matter how hard I try.
