I love it!!! The soaker gun debates are heating up lol!!! Joe I completely agree with everything you are saying. A year ago when I started experimenting with it when the hype of the soaker guns started, I was told by a certain channel that will remain nameless that it wouldn’t work. I didn’t believe that and neither did you. The only thing I will say is that by turning down your unloader you are essentially turning down the volume of water. Everything else is spot on and I love watching your tests to prove if your opinion stands against the industry standards. I love it!!! To many other people think they have all of the answers and when something comes along to test their beliefs and standards they turn a blind eye to it. Keep up the great work man. I support you!!!
I take my comment back about the flow test. I commented prematurely and didn’t watch through to the end. I was just excited to add my 2 cents about the gun debate lol!!!
Last year was my first year and I just upgraded to a 8 gpm machine and an AR45 gas system. I love my red gun. After watching your videos, I’m considering changing my unloader to the K7 and downstream as a backup. I know your videos are to track your progression, but you help so many people with these. Thank you sir!
I had a feeling you were going to do this test after the other dudes vid. It’s almost like the red gun is acting just like your ball valve except you can control the pattern with the gun. Good vid!
Probably the most versatile and efficient setup for house and flat work ! I bought some 1/2" flexible pressure hose cheap on a whim, running 1500psi on my k7 i got right at 9gpm out if a 7.5gpm on a 390 honda Frankenstein buiild. Run the red gun with all 1/2" fittings and ball valve. Seems that alot of fittings have a different id and arent consistant so the friction just builds thru the lines. Fun stuff man !! Thanks Joe
Hey Joe love the video’s mate, you have got me started on my side hussle! I almost enjoyed building my rig from your vid’s as much as washing. 1. I hope I don’t steer you wrong as I have zero experience but I believe that small spike you see is what the unloader requires to detect the flow has stopped so it can divert the flow to buffer tank. 2. Cutting the unloader down shouldn’t really affect your flow until you start reaching higher PSI values near the setting you have it too. EG if you set it at 2500psi you most likely won’t have full volume at 2500 but should be fine softwashing at 150 👍. It is more recommend from other channels to drop pressure using tip size as it puts less pressure of the unloader. 3. Watched an old video the other day when you had the mixer connected to downstreamer and tried to cut SH% with the SH valve. That would only strangle the suction flow, you would be better just adding in small amounts of water to cut % down. You might run SH at 3/4 and water at 1/8 for example 👍. Like everyone has mentioned you are such a great example for so many people to get out there and follow there dreams. All the new idea’s and things you try are what we all wonder but can’t be bothered trying to everyone gets so much excitement from them 🤙🍻
Hi Adam. Thank you for following. You are correct about the spike. I flow tested at 2000 psi and no drop in volume. The proportioner theory is correct but doesn’t necessarily work as expected in practice because the valving is so much larger than the draw line. Valving would need to be 1/4”. At least this is what I’m finding in practice
This test was with the k7 unloader on my 8 gpm pressure washer a couple years ago. I did not run this set up very long and switched back to the Sutner gun and m5 because I preferred the sweeping spray pattern
Hey Joe. Because of your channel i have upgraded my rig to having a flow pro and red gun. I also have a K7.3 unloader but with the igx800. It has made me more efficient and extremely happy. It's all your fault! By the way we got 8 inches of snow in Western NC today. Should be the last of the white stuff this season.
I wonder if it surges at all if you slowly release the trigger? Seems like a trigger stop would make sense but have it setup so it can be moved that last 1/4” so the gun can completely close. Like the clip that folds out preventing the ability to pull the trigger.
I was using a jrod. So went from switching between multiple tips down the the M5 and a shooter. So now I only have to change between the two. The red gun just makes it a no switch adjustment. Just squeeze for the spray you want. Only issue I see is getting the projectile spray I get with the Davis shooter tip. Will I get it with the red gun or will I get the same spray as I get with the M5? I’ll have to try it.
@@darrendeblance6235 so far the red guns has a nice beam. Plenty of slap and much less fray than the M5. However the m5 and shooter tip is still a killer combo
Joe, have you tried that red gun on the 12v yet just to see what it would do? Just curious if it would work at as good as a wand or a Gilmour. 🤔 btw, you take whistle request… Andy Griffith show. 🤣
I have not tried it yet. I’m assuming it will be weak because my 12 V is only four. 9 gallon per minute. As a boy I watched Andy Griffith almost daily.
What size green tip are you using? Is it for your 8gpm or for your 5.5gpm? Your pressures will vary greatly. The red gun shouldn't be used with a pressure trapped unloader. Your flow sensitive unloader doesn't put out that kind of pressures because of the size of the red gun nozzle.
I have a similar setup. 3 questions please. What size DS Injector? What do you think your percent of sh is? And have you tested that? How much hose in on your reel? Thanks for all your videos. You are upgrading everything so fast its awesome.
Test one using the wand with a tip(green) inserted is creating back pressure, but your follow up test on the “red“ gun is never going to have back pressure as it’s basically a wide open orifice which is allowing flow. From what I recall more flow = less pressure More pressure = less flow 🤔😳
I have not. I would not expect much performance. It’s made for a much higher flow rate than my 5 gpm pump. But who knows? Could be an interesting little experiment
There is no question the Red and Blue guns are far better constructed than any PW gun available. It is all stainless steel and over moulded unlike PW guns which are two piece. If you are putting 2000psi into a 50' 3/8" hose the psi at 50' would be 1985psi, 1880psi at 100' and 1522 at 200'. If you reduce the pressure to 1000psi the psi at 100' would be 880psi, at 200' 522psi. 3500psi x 100' x 3/8" = 3022psi 3500psi x 200' x3/8" = 2545psi
Seems to be working okay, but for hotter mix for tough jobs; like roofs you will have to change machines. A roof pump is cheaper, and you can regulate the percent of sh for all percentages with a proportioner.
Question Joe, do you have a line back to your water tank that recirculates water when you are off the trigger and not flowing? I have to be careful of how long I am not flowing water so I don't over heat my pump.
