I am so glad you addressed this issue. As a renter the Airbnb market has DESTROYED the long term rental industry!!! This has led to a massive decrease in available units for those who cannot afford to buy a home!!! Airbnb is an ECONOMIC website, and lost the Social aspect of the original concept years ago! The rental units for families are not available, because they've been converted to businesses!!! If you want to rent a room in your home, go ahead, but to move out and converting it into a business and pushing local residents out of the area is simply WRONG!!!
@@-chilly-142 you are so right. Sadly, in America, it'll have to become a housing crisis BEFORE laws are put in place to stop this!!!! I hate to say this, but I hope more of these Airbnb home owners get their properties destroyed and thus stop them from continuing to Airbnb their homes!!!

The ONLY Reason that Airbnb even exists is because America, and to a lesser degree the whole West is SO Broke. Is it a coincidence that this firm started after the 2008 meltdown ? I don't think so. I can tell you that it wasn't that long ago when the average American would've thought that it was well below him to rent space in stranger's home while on vacation. THAT was certainly NOT the American Dream as I remember it from the 1950's. The American Dream meant being able to afford a decent hotel while on vacation. SO, What Happened ? What happened is that America started a slow but steady economic decline after the Vietnam War and it's still going on. And since so many Western economies are tied to the American Economy the whole West is going down the toilet economically too. People who say Airbnb is "fun" are just putting a smiley face on the fact that they can't afford better. Saying that Airbnb is a good and fun idea is like the orchestra on the Titantic who continued playing happy tunes as the ship sank. And very soon the economy of America, and of those who depend on it are going to be submerged into the Worst Economic Disaster that the modern world has every seen. But just keep that smiley face going, OK ? ... jkulik919@gmail.com
Yes, but why should you be forced into this out of sheer negligence from abnb? Ppl are wary, very wary now...by this I mean genuine customers n genuine owners. ..
The Airbnb we stayed in on our vacation in the Virgin Islands was a huge part of the what made our trip wonderful! The house was large and high up on a hill overlooking the beautiful Caribbean all the way to the horizon. It was an old Italian styled, very roomy and airy house with a wrap around balcony and excellent privacy - the view of the ocean couldn’t have been better. We couldn’t have had a more excellent and luxurious accommodations anywhere else on the island for the reasonable price we paid for the week! Best experience ever. I’m very thankful for the Airbnb option.
Wait, the host can remove negative reviews? How is that process allowed? You shouldn't be able to remove a negative post, until the client has been satisfied, and then ONLY the client should be able to remove it!!!
I work for Airbnb, negative reviews can be removed from both the host or the guests account depending on a number of things. Some people purposely write negative reviews or threaten negative reviews for a number of reason. If you read to TOS, it will fill you in on everything.
@@yeayyo Yes it is. The same thing happened to me.When I posted the negative review she threatened to have me removed form airbnb. I will never use them again. Its so easy for them to get fake reviews thet are good. Notice every airbnb host is a super host? Its bullshit.
"Basic logic" is that people shouldn't be so broke that they need to rent their home to complete strangers just to make ends meet. But "basic logic" means nothing when the economy is collapsing and you're struggling to stay afloat. ... jkulik919@gmail.com
@@JosephKulik2016 except that's not it. Lot of them are homeowners that just want a quick buck. airbnb is a lot more expensive than regular rent where I live since they are competing with hotels... Yeah I'm sure those poor home owners are starving. Give me a break.
A well balanced presentation. Provides a complete picture, by providing voice to the stake holders concerned. I have been a happy consumer. But now, I would think twice before putting my property on their platform.
I live in a highly tourist area and airbnb is a horrible tourist trap. Prices are double than actual monthly rent around here. You can sometimes find a cheap host that just wants some company and is doing it to meet people but that's rare. Airbnb should have an option to filter out whole cabins or homes and just look for rooms. The idea behind airbnb is solid but humans will always ruin a nice thing given the chance...
I had Airbnb flats in my building that got trashed regularly, the guests would leave their trash all over the common yard, hallways etc. They'd smoke in the hallway and throw the cigarettes where ever and all the flats had to be fumigated regularly cause the guests would bring bedbugs etc. with them ... Yeah, I'm definitely NOT a fan, will never use their services.
On the consumer side of things, make sure you take pictures of EVERYTHING upon arrival. I stayed at an airbnb for 3 months and when we checked out the owner claimed we damaged her chair. Tried to charge me 2300 dollars for it, luckily we had pictures showing the damage we found upon check in. Airbnb backed us and she got nothing. If we hadn't had the documentation we wouldn't have had a case to argue.
Right. Clearly she didn't question the lock or lack there of to the bedroom because she wouldn't have been sooo shocked to wake up being stared at INSIDE the room.
She is clearly idiotic 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ she put herself in that situation and they she stayed there for the night in a room they already used . Smh .
Had a Airbnb where there were cameras in all the common areas but wasn’t told beforehand. Felt so uncomfortable as a women knowing the male owner could watch me. Thank god I saw it before walking around in my underwear
Hopefully there were no hidden cameras in the bedrooms and bathroom there. Best to check that out too - see TH-cam videos warning of that disgusting issue. The Airbnb owners can be charged and sued big time.
I was an Airbnb host for over a year. Pros and cons for sure:). Pros, the extra money, I lived in Ca's wine country and was sold out every single night I wanted to list, I met nice people. Cons: you're letting strangers in your home and now that I've been out of it for a couple of years I wouldn't do it again. The safety is an issue for me. I did have some rules, mainly no guests could stay more than 2 nights; I figured I could handle most people for 2 nights lol. I also wouldn't let guests stay unless they had stellar reviews:).
I’m newer to hosting- but yesterday I posted a video because I was so frustrated with how the guests left my house😩enjoyed your video! Makes me feel like I’m not so alone in this.
@Keith Steward well I know that when I'm a guest in other people's homes I would Never leave dirty diapers inside, not flush the toilet, leave lobster shells indoors in an unlined trash can when there are literally hundreds of trash bags to use under the sink (and I was told so)....so "that's on you?"- no offense but thinking I'd hate to have you as a guest if you think that kind of behavior is acceptable.
I KNOW RIGHT? If I did anything like this, it would be a house I only use for renting. If I was desperate, I'd at least remove my priceless paintings and personal information.
Airbnb is not positive for the hotel industry and long-term renters. Major cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, etc... have really high rents now because most are converted into short-term rentals for tourists. Good thing in Singapore they cannot operate legally, and most people who still do it are given really high fines to deter them from doing it again.
I've been a guest in airbnb's many times as well. Twice I didn't like the host's attitude on the phone and airbnb reserved me a hotel room and let the host know I wouldn't be there that night. I don't remember what the problem was both times but once it was the host was really rude. She kept trying to pin me down on to the EXACT time I would be there and I didn't know the exact time. It was too late to get my money back so I called airbnb and they told me not to worry about it and reserved me a hotel room. I think they put it under the category I didn't feel comfortable with the host. Maybe I get special treatment because I've been a superhost for several years I don't know but I feel they bend over backwards for me. And no, not everyone is a superhost. I lost my superhost status once by canceling a reservation. They now let you cancel two a year without repercussions. I think this video was made a while back and they've ironed out many of the problems shown.
My negative experience using AirBnB as a "customer" was not only one because of the host, but also made possible by the "customer service". I had to pay a penality fee for leaving early after having been on the verge of "bodily damage" - hardly any heating and broken windows, amongst other things. The "customer service" contradicted each other on top of that.
Wait so you didn’t contact Airbnb the first night? I’ve had issues and contacted them on the first night. I know they like you to resolve the issue with the so called host but in many cases the host will do the bare minimum to fix the issues.
No one should rent out their home on AirBnB. You should rent separate apartments on the site - NEVER your personal space where you and your family live. Also, never rent out high-valued homes or apartments on the site. If you do, charge an exorbitant security deposit. That will discourage low-quality renters. This is so sad!
Let a stranger into your home? Lunacy! There should be some ID system...passport confirmed @ local police, n stamped form submitted to owner. Cameras at door. N other side of coin its taking from rentals available!
To be fair, in Europe at least, one must provide such information as far as I am aware (I was required to upload my ID card and verify a phone number, etc.), according to data privacy laws, AirBnB has the information and would forward it to the police, but not to a third-party (the one who received such sensitive information had to store it in accordance with the law).
@@jovantalberg6688 Yes you're absolutely right but why not the house owner have a safer net, in form of local police confirmation... Its no bother to criminals to pass fake docs. Airbnb have NO WAY of confirming validity! FACT! N as a customer I'd prefer taking half hour out to do this rather than give all poersonal details online! Not suggesting abnb using your data for profit, but you never know...show looking at YOUR info! A meet n greet is essential n right to refuse, on both sides in place, as in if it's a kip. Money back immediately n hotel room free! Airbnb are listed at 2.5 BILLION??? How??? This is company's worth! Seems colossal in comparison to revenue in, if you do a quick approx global calculation. So far has been lucky as were on tourist island n shges built up repeat business which is best! Some other friends do also but only to ppl who have been before. Security is a huge issue. @@SirDeanYawl well, in ways, yes. The company needs to have offices in all major cities. Some point of contact. It appears they've gotten to big to handle it all! Jmo!
I rented an airbnb in Dallas. The lady wasn't supposed to be subleasing. They began the eviction process while I was still there. Airbnb didn't want to refund my money for that mess. Since then, I've never used them again. Be careful if you're renting through airbnb if it is an apartment call the office manager to see if they're supposed to be subleasing if not they're scammers. Do not fall for it.
I stayed at an airb&b, not sure if my fiance found it through that platform or not, but that's essentially what it was. They only accepted cards, and before you could even pay, you had to agree to the terms of services stating if there was any damage when you leave, they had the right to charge your card. I wish we would've taken pics of the place when we got there, because we ended up getting a bill for existing damage, so it's not just owner's who get screwed in these situations, sometimes it's the actual "renters". Surely the actual airb&b has an agreement like this set up to protect there owners though right? I don't see how it wasn't possible to track down those people who destroyed those owners' homes, if they had a card on file for the purchase. It's more like they just didn't want to. Still recommend people taking pics of the places they rent though, just in case an owner tries to pull one on you like what happened with us, because it can definitely be a two way street.
I've worked as a case manager for Airbnb for almost 2 years but decided to quit a month ago. They don't charge guest or hosts without approval. As a guest, if Airbnb or host is asking you for additional payment, all you need to do is to decline, unless there is an agreement that you need to pay additional before you make the reservation.
@@marriejames01 ooothe videoing is a really good idea too! Not really sure what Jenelle's point was with their post, pretty sure I made it clear in mine that you do actually have to agree to those charges they can tack on at the end, BEFORE you can even get the room, so I'm not even going to bother with it 🤣.
I’ve never used Airbnb but I assumed the service was like renting a car where all this information about the renter was needed on top of insurance information should anything go wrong. I have rented a house for a long winter break vacation with various family members. When I booked the dates, I was informed that the next door neighbor was aware of rental situation and would be monitoring the house for the owner. Honestly I was relieved that there was someone close if the house had any issues. Luckily the only issue we had was turning on the living room tv. On the last night, we made sure to invite the neighbors for dinner as a thank you for “keeping us safe”.
I had one too many bad experiences as a guest that I totally boycotted Airbnb. For the last situation, the best they would do was give me $100 for a future stay.
How do people think a 21 year old is responsible enough to rent a home for one night, and not to do damage? They have no experience in responsible behavior!!! You get what you pay for! Even the car rental agencies don't let anyone under 25 rent their vehicle!!!
At 21 I was on my second deployment in the military, married, owned a car, was a full time student, and had money in savings. All 21 year olds aren’t wreckless party animals lol
I was more responsible and had more responsibilities at 21 than many 50-year-olds have ever been or had, measured by good European standards. However, when I see how immature many were and always will be in that age-group and beyond, it is true, sadly. The problem is that elderly may act very similar, at least verbally and in what they are able to do physically then.
Well not all 21 year olds are wild party animals. When I was 21 I was rather quiet and introverted and didn’t know (much less, liked) many people. But I would agree that you many aren’t responsible at 21. Charge a higher fee for anyone under 25. Rental car companies do that.
If you spend very little on accommodation (and to be honest most people in use it for that) you will get a very mixed bag. Don't go on a holiday if you are too tight to stay in decent digs.
I rented out my house on Airbnb, and the guest took the collection of Jaeger LeCoultre and Patek Philippe watches that I had left out on my shelf. I’m dumbfounded. From now on, I’m going to leave a “Please do not take” sign next to the valuables I have lying around the house.
Thanks for sharing this documentary, absolutely fantastic and really great interviews. After you hear a few of the “replies” from Airbnb, you start to notice the pattern don’t you. Also, Airbnb say that they “remove” a bad lister and the listing, but then that same bad lister can just relist that property using a different email etc etc. The current version of Airbnb is so so far removed from the (apparent) original ideals they espoused. It appears that absolutely nothing is ever their fault and they rely on customer inaction and then only act (or appear to act) when the press are involved. As a single woman, I’d never ever use their services. I’ve heard too many stories like the ones told here. P.s there’s also the fake listings. The guy that came home to find a family of 5 strangers inside his beach house - someone had listened his property and taken photos from the internet. You can also find multiple listings using the same images. To get around being identified they flip the images and or cropped them to make it appear as a different picture. Airbnb should be ashamed. For me personally, the subletting of community housing properties is the final straw. Thanks but no thanks 🙂🐿
@Matt Sterling - it is true, the house and family arriving was filmed by one the family members. I think they only managed to get inside because the homes owner had popped out and left a sliding door open or something. I’m guessing that it was never the intention that they got inside - by that point it doesn’t matter, the scammer has made their money. The owner and the family that booked the property were interviewed for another documentary regarding Airbnb and their experiences. I can’t remember exactly but I think the property images had been taken from a real estate website as the house had been on the market. I’ll see if I can find a link for you 🙂
I visited the sovereign Cherokee Nation, North Carolina. I only saw one, maybe, Airbnb listing and it was more expensive than the hotels. ❤I’d like to think that the tribe takes care of each other and keeps their nation safe and pleasant.
I wonder how they are "actually", doing right now?, with the pandemic, travel restrictions? And when? or will? it come back to the way it used to be?.....just curious?....
Airbnb will not post any negative reviews on host so you only see good fake reviews. I have had nightmare rentals and not able to get my deposit back. I will never use them again.
Reading all the neg comments about how people would never put their house on airbnb. Thought I'd chime in as I've done it for 10 years. It's mostly a summer thing as I live outside Yellowstone Park and the park closes in the winter. It's the easiest money I've ever made and I've had ZERO problems with guests. I've had a few I didn't particularly care for but no one has caused me problems or damaged my home. I have an apartment in my basement and that is what I rent out. I did it during Covid as well. I never got sick or had guests that seemed sick. People traveled more during the pandemic and I had guests all winter. I'll keep doing it till I'm too old as I enjoy it and like I said, it's easy money.
I was the biggest fan of airbnb...i was the 4th person in my city to rent out and they used to be sooo nice. I had the nicest guests and i stayed in the nicest places. But it changed so much. Meanwhile i owned a nice villa in Croatia, renting out to handpicked guests Airbnb pushed me to take on a inquery from a group of guys lying to me obviously in the first place. Airbnb came around with restrictions if i not take them. Finally i did and they messed up the house totally. Reporting it to Airbnb they totally stayed out of it, leaving me with the mess. A little later they blocked me, with NO EXPLANATION. i cant rent out or travel with them anymore. They stayed unresponsive to all my correspondance referring i have hurt their regulations. but where and how? My friends apartment was covered in feeces-again no support from them. I guess there is so much more than what goes public...they only take care of things that go viral.
*I was bit by a bed bug at an air BNB* the woman got this futon curb side, same one I was refusing to even inquire about on craigslist. Put it in her house, disgusting.😒
Never used it before but I heard that Host can cancel your staying when ever they want...So let's say your coming to some random city and you get notification that your staying is cancelled
That’s true I’ve seen on some bookings that people cancel the day before. Airbnb should charge the host at that point an inconvenience fee for the guest.
Had many good experiences but booked a month long airbnb a couple of years ago where the property lacked amenities claimed and other issues... contrary to stated policy.... but no help from airbnb despite checking out after a couple of days. Was left out a couple of thousand dollars. Not cool for me as a guest with numerous positive reviews versus relatively new host
I will be using one for the first time. We are traveling with extended family for an out of state wedding. My thinking is since we will be traveling with 3 small children, it would be nice to be able to put them doen for naps and at night to bed while we adults played cards or watched a movie. Plus the savings in being able to do breakfast and lunch "at home" helps make the trip a little more affordable since the plane tickets were outrageous! Hoping for a good experience.
Now the have a company that lets you RENT YOUR POOL! Your personal pool in your backyard to total strangers. SO many things wrong with this. What if someone drowns, strangers peeing in your pool, strangers in your backyard drinking alcohol. I could go on and on. I have a pool and there is NO WAY that I would ever rent it out! Nor would I rent my home, my basement in my home or a bedroom in my home. It is all just a huge NO to me!
I've mostly had good experiences with AirBnb-only once did I have an issue that they sort of ignored. Just a heads up in general that the majority of listings in Berlin are scams. I got "lucky" and the one I rented was real but when I turned up the wifi wasn't working and yet the hostess was constantly on her own personal hotspot/wifi device despite there being "wifi continuous" on the listing. I was refunded for that for my whole stay. When I left tho, I discovered that I left my favorite jumpsuit ($70) and asked the hostess to return in. She said she would and then disappeared and all her reviews after me were people saying she no showed them and that they were left without a place. I just lost my jumpsuit and they never helped me reach out to the hostess after she ignored me. Small issue in the scheme of things.
I love airbnb. Im a truck driver who works 5 days a week. While i am at work i rent out my condo. Its gorgeous the back yard has a dock and its on a island in the gulf of Mexico. Ive paid it off and now I’m moving my entire future to airbnb. Im developing properties on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.
You have to be realistic- the fact that Air bnb offers any form of assistance and minimal 'insurance' is actually a miracle. Besides removing listings, black listing people etc, Air bnb actually has close to zero control over any host or customer issues. Both parties must simply accept the risk and mitigate it themselves with their own common sense, own insurance policies, the police etc. Be realistic. Air bnb actually has nothing to do with these issues. It's as unrealistic as going after a newspaper agency for a bad advertisement or listing places in their paper in the old days..🙄😋
The only experience I had with this...we tried to book a place during halloween 2019 only because all hotels in the area were full. Boyfriend completes booking etc they charge his card etc...2minutes later he gets a notification unfortunately the booking will b cancelled because it's a woman only place...NOWHERE on the description did it say it was a woman only place. AND never got his refund back.. $80 gone just like that ....never used it again
I'm a little confused and surprised cause aren't there many, many apps and other options to be able to watch your home and the inhabitants no matter where you are??? Plus in order to be profitable and really get attention (as shown) it's usually people of means in a "good"area. So........
My God, how can people have the audacity to do this to someone else's property? I would be insanely angry if something like that happened on my property. Not even if I called 2 cleaners on Turno could I get the house ready for the next booking in time, since I get so many bookings!
This is not a big deal Based on numbers. There 2 million listings on Airbnb and assume that 0.1% of hosts and guests are bad apples it means 2000 listings and guests are the bad guys, big a number to paint an industry as terrible forgetting the 99.9% or 1,998,000 listings that are excellent hosts and guests. What they pointed out here are isolated incidents you'll never even hear about in reality except once in a while news. I use airbnb for years now and I can tell that though there people who are bad, I'd categorically say that majority of users and hosts are excellent people. I'd go for airbnb forever...
What a stupid comment and what does it have to do with this story. There's no evidence that any God exist- just campfire storied from goat herders. The God of Abraham was the biggest mass murderer the world has ever seen.
I don't think I would ever rent my house or a room on Airbnb. But I have used Airbnb ro rent a few places. Of course it's all about greed. Luckily I have been very happy with the places I've rented.
I live in a building with 2 air b n bs and while some guests are fine, many leave their trash on the porch/in the common area and have little respect for noise rules. The city I live in is very touristy, and there are many blocks that are full of air b n bs. As a result, people cannot afford to rent. There really need to be more regulations. Also, one of the units' guests left the bathtub running and it soaked through my ceiling. I lost electricity for a month and still have water damage. When air b n b was contacted to pay for the damage, they came back with a big NOPE despite sending an assessor out who verified the damage. Luckily, the host is not a monster and paid for my electricity to get fixed, etc but yeah...their customer service sucks and they are clearly just in it for money, not "social sharing."
Don't let 18 yr old teenagers, college students, strangers you've never met, or even party going adults into your house, even if it's listed as an Airbnb. Just... no.
I've attempted to air bnb multiple times but hv just not been able to go through with it. The reviews in America r extremely good if ur spending lots of money or extremely bad if ur not. I want the experience but am still so nervous.
Our family is in love with using Airbnb’s! Whenever we plan a vacation we always book thru Airbnb or VBRO as we enjoy so much the experience of renting a whole home as a family bring us a get together as a family again in usually and amazing city, state or island vacation! We’ve experienced NOTHING but positives! Then again we are not god forbid renting a single room in someone else’s home with them home wth 😳 Read the reviews. We always like to go with a gold star owner thats got exceptional reviews. I think its wonderful if your not trying to do it on the cheap and expecting something more than what you paid for.
From my experience most of them are always overpriced. I had one really great experience staying at a guest house on a property with a mansion. The back yard had a pool, lazy river, hot tub, park, volleyball court and a mini track. We paid $150 a night. The owner worked for the CIA and was hardly in town. Other places I’ve book had less amenities and cost 3-4xs as much.
@@marriejames01 price IS ALWAYS based on desirable location and amenities. If owners have a property with one or the other or both they have every right to price it accordingly. As a potential renter you can choose weather to pass or play. Yes, the nice ones of course are priced high why wouldnt they be? You get what you pay for. I’d rather save up and go nicer for a get away. If it was for business id probably look cheaper and settle for less desirable place/ less amenities. You yourself pick the place, again you get what you are willing to pay for. If I’m renting my home out I certainly wouldn’t be doing it for cheap as it would have to 💯 financially $$ be worth me having others into my home.
Sucked in. Tax dodging ppl who have no consideration for their neighbours then get a bad outcome and are actually surprised. Rent a high end apartment to a 21 year old, what could possibly go wrong? Lol...
And forever i would go for Airbnb. I can tell that there's less than 1% of bad hosts and guests... But if you're a company with 2 million listings, sure if just 0.5% of your people are bad souls, you now have 10,000 bad people to deal with but the industry is just superb and fantastic... Please enjoy your stay
Just like the other apps that people have created to make themselves rich with material things, like Uber and food delivery services, everyone knows by common sense there are risks involved and you should not be turning to the business owner later to fix something that you knew could possibly happen but you took that chance on your own anyway. Don't do ridiculous things that can bring you trouble turmoil or possibly worse! I personally feel cleaning fees that are charged leave people to automatically assume they do not have to clean up after themselves because they paid for the service themselves. Most people will party and leave their messes because they are on vacation and they think they don't have to pick up after themselves and they paid for a maid so let the maid handle it.

But just keep that smiley face going, OK ? ... jkulik919@gmail.com
Yes, but why should you be forced into this out of sheer negligence from abnb?
Ppl are wary, very wary now...by this I mean genuine customers n genuine owners. ..
That's exactly what it takes for them to respond.
We had a owuful experience in Paris and the owner keep the money for a renta we didn´t use and removed our review. STAY AWAY FROM AIRBNB if you can!
No, it's not possible for the host to do that
@@Solmaz_S You could try a similar website, VRBO Vacational Rentals By Owners, it is much much better. Good luck!
@@yeayyo Yes it is. The same thing happened to me.When I posted the negative review she threatened to have me removed form airbnb. I will never use them again. Its so easy for them to get fake reviews thet are good. Notice every airbnb host is a super host? Its bullshit.
Don't keep valuables in your house when you rent it on Airbnb. Should be basic logic.
"Basic logic" is that people shouldn't be so broke that they need to rent their home to complete strangers just to make ends meet. But "basic logic" means nothing when the economy is collapsing and you're struggling to stay afloat. ... jkulik919@gmail.com
@@JosephKulik2016 I'm talking about keeping a Banksy in your house
@@JosephKulik2016 except that's not it. Lot of them are homeowners that just want a quick buck. airbnb is a lot more expensive than regular rent where I live since they are competing with hotels... Yeah I'm sure those poor home owners are starving. Give me a break.
Not giving strangers the keys to your house should be basic logic.
This girl staying with two strangers in an apartment in Paris... Too dangerous 😳😱 she was lucky that she got out so easily... One should never do it!
Smh .
Damn. Anybody ever seen the movie Taken?
Darwinism. It's hard to feel bad for stupid people.
2 girls in Paris. Sounds like from the movie Taken lol
Well it’s a little different if you’re renting your empty house versus an empty room. I wouldn’t rent a room either.
I’m newer to hosting- but yesterday I posted a video because I was so frustrated with how the guests left my house😩enjoyed your video! Makes me feel like I’m not so alone in this.
you are definetely not. I guess we only hear 5% of what is happening all over the world.
I would NEVER EVER rent my home out to complete strangers 🙄🙄
I KNOW RIGHT? If I did anything like this, it would be a house I only use for renting. If I was desperate, I'd at least remove my priceless paintings and personal information.
Especially renting out a room where you live down the hall. You don’t know if you’re inviting in a serial killer
I did it and the money was good but OMG some people are just disgusting. I could not do it any longer:(
Let a stranger into your home?
Lunacy!
There should be some ID system...passport confirmed @ local police, n stamped form submitted to owner. Cameras at door.
N other side of coin its taking from rentals available!
To be fair, in Europe at least, one must provide such information as far as I am aware (I was required to upload my ID card and verify a phone number, etc.), according to data privacy laws, AirBnB has the information and would forward it to the police, but not to a third-party (the one who received such sensitive information had to store it in accordance with the law).
oh, so like a hotel? air b n b is a scourge
@@jovantalberg6688 Yes you're absolutely right but why not the house owner have a safer net, in form of local police confirmation... Its no bother to criminals to pass fake docs. Airbnb have NO WAY of confirming validity! FACT!

Jmo!
The whole point in Airbnb is being able to book very quickly and conveniently. This comes with pros and cons and an inflated price.
Do not fall for it.
good documentary. can't believe no one has mentioned how the guy with the website looks like Gru. He has the scarf and everything
Soo true, don't know how I missed that.
I take video and photos before and after. I’ve had issues before so now I CMA.
@@pinoythegreatestofall97 Isn’t the agreement in the host’s rule verbiage before you book? That’s where I’ve seen it.
AirBnB do not delete the guests who steal or break places.
Don't talk to strangers. Now you let strangers stay in your property? They're probably a serial killer.
Someone who actually knows of Banksy enough to buy his work has to be on another planet to not be aware of the value over time.
If someone wrecks your house that's not Airbnb fault. If you can't accept some of the risk then you shouldn't be renting your home to strangers.
How do people think a 21 year old is responsible enough to rent a home for one night, and not to do damage? They have no experience in responsible behavior!!! You get what you pay for!
Even the car rental agencies don't let anyone under 25 rent their vehicle!!!
not all 21 year olds are irresponsible!! some including myself have repect for others
Omg, that beautiful home at the beginning! Such destruction and filth! 💔💔💔💔
I would have lost my mind over the disgusting mess after these horrible clients destroyed my house/apartment!!!!
Airbnb is misleading his customers!!!!! By the time you finish booking the rates doubled.
You turn your home into a motel business. What could possibly go wrong? LOL
That Mayor is cool love her enthusiasm!
If you spend very little on accommodation (and to be honest most people in use it for that) you will get a very mixed bag.
Don't go on a holiday if you are too tight to stay in decent digs.
Sure - the pathetic prols don't deserve a holiday.
I rented out my house on Airbnb, and the guest took the collection of Jaeger LeCoultre and Patek Philippe watches that I had left out on my shelf. I’m dumbfounded. From now on, I’m going to leave a “Please do not take” sign next to the valuables I have lying around the house.
Be nice 😂
You should know people
Or just don't leave valuables out? Pretty common sense stuff.
Did you contact the guest to get it back??? That’s messed up. I HATE thieves
Why would you to put your personal home on airbnb?
What is wrong with people? You know that they wasn't raised that way. It's the whole, "it's not mine, I didn't pay for it" type of mentality
Seriously, would anyone here rent a luxury, brand new apartment to a 21-22 year old for NYE? Risky, to say the least.
Airbnb is a scam,i rented a house in nairobi only to find the host has another guest and am told to wait for two days, not serious...
Well God bless you!!!! It’s a blessing you didn’t have any issues
New Years party, one crazy guy !
Hoping for a good experience.
the damage is done to the local population who can not afford rent anymore!
Informative stuff, keep it up!
Isn't there some sort of clause that damages need to be paid for?
What makes you say that majority of listings in Berlin are fake?
I don’t understand why you would want to destroy someone’s home... it doesn’t make sense.
Who manages and cleans your property after each visit?
Why are the paying customers described as "guests"? Guests are invited, they do not pay.
Thats what hotels call them. Guests. Even in the definition one of them is listed as “a person lodging at a hotel or dorming house”
May be it evolved from free or covering-expenses-only situations to making (huge) profits.
I have used @airbnb in more than 10 countries; I would rather have my perfect rating than leaving a house in a mess....
I have a perfect rating too. We always clean the house better than we found it. Despite having to pay a cleaning fee. 🙄
So........
Wow interesting! I knew you shouldn't trust Airbnb..So they basically take fees for nothing? Niceee.
Anyway great film!
Not a fan of AirBnB just old fashioned hotel
My God, how can people have the audacity to do this to someone else's property? I would be insanely angry if something like that happened on my property. Not even if I called 2 cleaners on Turno could I get the house ready for the next booking in time, since I get so many bookings!
Ok if people trash hotel rooms why wouldn't they trash an air bnb? I would never trust a stranger to stay in my home, just saying...

Why not just make housing affordable like building more affordable housing 🙄
Just... no.
These tech companies are not in the business of customer service. some of us find this out the hard way

Air B and B just screams BUYER BEWARE
Long story short: public shaming is the REAL customer service.
Lol...
im watching this while staying in an extended airbnb
Nice we just booked one I love it
Hv fun!!
And then what happens to the disgusting renters? Can airbnb still go after them? Make them pay or whatever?
Aren't these renters aware that they can get bedbugs from sleeping in these places? You can even get bedbugs in the finest hotels.
Name & shame these offenders
Just like the other apps that people have created to make themselves rich with material things, like Uber and food delivery services, everyone knows by common sense there are risks involved and you should not be turning to the business owner later to fix something that you knew could possibly happen but you took that chance on your own anyway. Don't do ridiculous things that can bring you trouble turmoil or possibly worse! I personally feel cleaning fees that are charged leave people to automatically assume they do not have to clean up after themselves because they paid for the service themselves. Most people will party and leave their messes because they are on vacation and they think they don't have to pick up after themselves and they paid for a maid so let the maid handle it.
new and advanced squatting!!!!
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR .................SIMPLE
IT WORKS BOTH WAYS
How's that? The first three housings were kinda posh and definitely targeted for more wealthy audience..but people still trashed it.
I am so tired of people complaining that hosts using Airbnb is robbing rental units in cities ! It's MY property . I pay my taxes. I have the Deed. It's mine to do what I wish . I am NOT BEHOLDING to have to rent it out to Joe Blow for a minimal rent per month. Joe should buy his own property or move to a different neighborhood. THIS is capitalism and how it works !
after complaining as a guest and checking out before the booked period i was blocked from entering a review
Not only is airbnb kinda bad, couch surfing is mega ick. NEVER DO COUCH SURFING IN ITALY
She woke up to find her host watching her sleeping 😂 hilarious
If you were a women you would not laugh like that!
Welcome to new AirBnB / Uber / Bolt / Amazon etc. world! Nobody is earning a living but it doesn't matter 'cos - IT'S CHEAP! All taxes, external costs and benefits are paid by the workers. But it's cool - Everyone is their own boss!
I guess you're on your own until the story goes public.
I appreciate the small quick second or two of Nick posing in the mirror in just a towel flexing with and glistening. 🙏🏻🙌🏻❤
Why are they not charging the guests for damages?
This was actually funny
Same people who would trade their cow for a handful of "magic" beans .
Every air bnb I’ve seen says no parties.
For myself I think its a shame they have the dominance that the do. You feel obliged to list with them but personally I don't like them as a host.
