Assembling an American Girl Doll Display Case, Part 1: Failure!

- As you’ll see, things didn’t go so well. Once I get the replacement parts, I’ll make a follow up video of a proper assembly.

As a colector I can only say I am so envious. I can also say you have a curated collection that you deserve. You have strategically hand picked. Research, time and money has been spent respect must be served.

The case will be nice once you get the right parts. The bigger case is awesome! Your scene in it is great!
I love the case so much! I’m in the process of setting up another scene on top of it… because I’m sick and I can’t be stopped!
I would let them know about the other larger one with the flaws. Let them do you good. They should send you another panel for that one too. Those dolls look wonderful. Your display case with the dolls is out of the world. Your customization is just... wow! Thank you for sharing.
They’ve already sent me tracking for a brand new display case, so I’ll see if I can sand down the edges on the big one myself. I’ll be happy enough to get my Tiana display sorted at this point 😊

So true! I call it my doll room in videos but in real life I call it my doll gallery because it feels more like a museum 🥴
I would enjoy seeing your chucky collection! Child’s play was the first horror movie I ever saw so I have an affinity with the series. Really appreciate all the different characters that they’ve brought to life in doll form. I personally think the Mattel skullectors set didn’t do them justice. Obviously AG themselves would never do this but chucky and tiff inspired customs would be so cool!
My Chucky dolls are in my storage locker, but I might be able to track down a picture I can pop into a video or my community tab. I’ve been a Chucky fan almost my entire life too. I was so small when the movie came out my older brother put me in a hockey bag to sneak me into the theater 😂 then I got in trouble for telling all my classmates evvvvverything that happened lol.
The case displays do not seem too expensive to me. I love how they look! My problem would be space. I'm sorry you have to send your case back for replacement, but while you are in NY, you might check out the AG store to see if the salon could do your Addy's hair? I bet they can!😊 Thanks so much for sharing your fun collection with us!
Oh that’s a great idea! I won’t be near the AG store when I pick up the panels, but whenever I travel to a city that has a store, I’ll take some dolls to get their hair done. I don’t think indigo did that (in Canada) so I never thought of doing that.

Awww thank you! The only time I visited an actual AG store (not indigo) was back in 2017 or so, before I really knew what AG was. But it was a week-long trip to Chicago… so I visited a LOT 😉

Yes I’m sure there won’t be any problems getting it fixed. It was really awkward while I was filming though 😂 Now I have time to figure out where I’ll put it lol.

I'm SO SORRY about the display case! How very disappointing for you. But I think it's actually really good for viewers to see things like this; it helps us understand some of the realities of how this stuff works, rather than the idealized, cleaned up version. So I'm really glad you shared this, despite the frustrations and disappointments. And loved seeing the dolls and hearing your thoughts on the hair. I have a 35th anniversary Addy, and every year I JAM her hair into that snood, and it's... unfun. It's not great. It looks great when on, but then it does take some love to make it look beautiful again when I take the snood out. Thankfully, Addy's hair is so thick and so versatile that it doesn't seem like a big deal so far. I hope you're able to find a way to get that snood on at some point!
You know, after I recorded, I worried this was a really weird video to upload, so thank you for saying that! I actually told myself if there were negative comments telling me this seemed mean or stupid, I would archive it 😆

I'm interested to see what they say about the gap at the top of your larger one, too. Because for that money, it should definitely block dust as it's designed to. I thoroughly enjoyed this video - And I agree with @eliseelliot - it's good to let ppl see some of the hiccups. I'm looking forward to seeing part two once Brick Case sends you the correct parts.

Do you think I should mention the gap from the larger case? I only emailed them about the mismatched panels. But maybe I should tell them about that too.
I was hesitant to upload this video since it got so weird, but you’re right, that it’s good to show. And then I can do a follow up when they correct the mistake 🤪

@@DisBlaine I would still reach out to them. You could tell them you're willing to try to sand down the edges but want to see what they recommend first. They may appreciate you be willing to try to save them some money and may have tips. Or they may prefer you go another route. But if you sand first and consult later, it's a done deal. (just my two cents you didn't request ;P
Yes, I know all too well about them taking over...in the course of one year of getting back into collecting, I more than doubled our collection, from like 16-47, and that's not including the few I still haven't unboxed. And I'm only talking 18" dolls and not even other dolls, animals, outfits, accessories or furniture!! Oh, My!! 😂
It also didn't register at first what Kristie @agtakesover meant by her screen name... I thought she meant AG was taking over TH-cam, but then one day it hit me, Ohhhh, she meant taking over her house, her life, her family, etc. Not the Internet. Lol!
Yeah it’s all the other stuff that really takes over! The dolls are already big, but the furniture and accessories?? ☠️

Sorry your display case didn’t fit together. I know that can be frustrating. It is a really nice way to display dolls. I like the big case a lot. It seems like no matter what type of display case we use the dust somehow finds its way in! Your shoe display looks really cute!
You’re so right about the dust! I don’t mind the upkeep, it’s part of life as a collector.
I felt stupid as I was recording and couldn’t figure out how to assemble the case, but I’m sure they’ll correct the issue. Luckily I have to drive to that UPS soon anyway. No real harm! ❤

@@donnamcclam haha yes I will definitely make another video when the display case arrives. Melody is wonderful! I have a few of her outifts that I alternate in her display.
For my first AGFashionWeek video, I’m going to have Melody model all her outfits I have as a sort of fashion show. Maybe you’ll want some her other clothes if you watch it. Collectors are such a bad (good?) influence on each other 😆
@@DisBlaine ohhhh sir I am in for a fashion a show I am all in. I am a fashion girl like for real I look at all the vans stuff you wear. I collect vans/ converse my hats match my shoes etc. so my dolls need to be up on fashion too… lol this is so fun having doll friends

I had given away 😭😭😭 all my AG Doll's, furniture acessories and Playset's, clothes 😭😭.Now for like 8 or 9 month's I've started collecting AG Doll's, furniture,acessories,Playset's once again 🤦🏾♂️.Curently i have 11 AG Doll's a few Playset's , acessories and clothes/ shoe's ☺.I wanna reach 100 AG Doll's then i can relax😅. I would spend that much or more on a AG Doll house❤❤❤.Looking for like 6/8 room house for my collection.I was soòòo Happy 🤗 to get my fav.AGOTY Doll back -Marisol Luna her trunk some of her outfits💗💗.Also i never owned any AG Boy Doll's but this time do☺.First AG Boy i purchased was Logan Everett and also Malik a our generation Doll.Ther are a few our generation Doll's i do like but mostly i dont's care for alot of them. AG Boy's/Doll's are much Better😅.At the moment my ice cream truck w/ soooòo much food/ ice cream stuff is Awesome❤ ❤it.And the kitchen set is 👌 for now but really want AG kitchen,love when ice cubes drop down into cup from frig. door 😂😂😂.Also only table i have is from a pizzarea but want the AG $100.00 table 2 chair's an acessories.I love the lemonaide w/holder it comes w❤❤❤.Keep up the Good work Blaine ,i like ur 📹 and ur AG Collection 👏😷.Nycc video Blaine.

Yes, some items are way too expensive-and not worth it-for all collectors, so it’s nice to share to let others see. Don’t be jealous! All collections are beautiful in their own way. Even though I LOVE my babies, I’m very often envious of those who have smaller, more intimate collections. It’s so beautiful that you have your beloved items away. Imagine how happy you made them!
